Sang Jiang's mind went completely blank as she stared at the black-clad man flying towards her.
When death actually came, she wasn't as honest as she thought she would be; she was afraid...
But then she thought that maybe this way she could go home, and she became indifferent.
But after waiting for a long time, she didn't feel any pain; instead, she fell into a warm and familiar embrace.
As if remembering something, Sang Jiang quickly opened her eyes, and upon seeing what was before her, tears welled up in her eyes...
The man in black's sword pierced straight through Long Jingchen's back.
The remaining men in black were all killed, except for this one. The guards had intended to spare his life, but he committed suicide by poisoning himself.
"Long Jingchen! Long Jingchen!" Sang Jiang cried out loudly as she hugged Long Jingchen, who was slowly sliding down, "How are you? Are you still alive?"
At that moment, she felt utterly helpless, as if a sinister snake had coiled tightly around her.
Her legs went weak instantly, and she clung to Long Jingchen's body as she sat down on the ground.
Yang Qi finally realized what was happening. He rushed to Long Jingchen's side, crying and shouting, "Guards! Quick! Take the Emperor back! Summon the imperial physician!"
Yang Qi glanced around and saw that the area was very close to the residences of the fourteenth and fifteenth princes, so he quickly ordered someone to send Long Jingchen to the fourteenth prince's residence.
Long Jingwei was painting when he heard the report from the person outside. He immediately threw down his brush and ink and ran out to move Long Jingchen to his bed.
Even after the imperial physician arrived, Sang Jiang was still shaken by the fear she had just experienced. She stared blankly as the physician treated Long Jingchen, unable to utter a single word.
Long Jingwei looked at Yang Qi and instructed him, "No one is allowed to tell anyone about this. Yang Qi, send a message to the palace saying that the Emperor is staying here because he got drunk, and he will return tomorrow."
Yang Qi quickly nodded in agreement.
It wasn't until the imperial physician applied the medicine and bandaged up Sang Jiang that Long Jingchen slowly came to his senses.
She walked over to Long Jingchen and slowly sat down next to him.
She gently took Long Jingchen's hands in her own; her hands were icy cold, and Sang Jiang's heart sank.
Long Jingwei wanted to go forward and say something, but Yang Qi stopped him. Yang Qi looked at him, shook his head, and pulled him out.
Sang Jiang stared blankly at Long Jingchen, not closing her eyes all night. She only slowly closed them the next day when Long Jingchen woke up.
Long Jingchen felt a sudden panic when he saw her.
He tried his best to call for someone to come in, but when he opened his mouth, his throat was so dry that he couldn't make a sound.
He glanced at the jade pendant by the bed, gritted his teeth, took it off, and threw it to the ground.
The jade pendant shattered upon falling to the ground.
Hearing the noise, Yang Qi immediately pushed the door open and came in. Upon seeing Long Jingchen, he ran over, crying and laughing at the same time: "Your Majesty! My master, you've finally woken up!"
Long Jingchen ignored him and looked at Yang Qi, speaking in a hoarse voice: "Quickly go and call the imperial physician to see what's wrong with the Imperial Noble Consort."
Yang Qi nodded and immediately turned to the side to call the imperial physician.
When the imperial physician tried to take his pulse, he refused, saying, "Let's check on the Imperial Noble Consort first. She's really fine."
The imperial physician hesitated for a moment before turning around to take Sang Jiang's pulse.
After a long while, he looked up at Long Jingchen and said, "Your Majesty, the Imperial Noble Consort is fine. She just stayed up too long and fell asleep."
Long Jingchen was finally relieved. The imperial physician then came to his side and took his pulse...
