When Lord Zhang arrived, Sang Jiang was sitting there in a daze.
It was only after Kou'er pushed her a few times that she realized what was happening.
She raised a slight eyebrow at Lord Zhang and said, "Lord Zhang, it's been a long time."
Lord Zhang lowered his eyes slightly, clasped his hands in greeting to Sang Jiang, and bowed: "Your humble servant greets the princess and pays his respects."
Sang Jiang sat up straight, shifted her posture, raised an eyebrow, and asked, "Does Lord Zhang have something to discuss with me?"
Lord Zhang hadn't expected her to be so direct. He pursed his lips, looked up at Sang Jiang, and stiffly asked, "Does the princess have any words for Princess Ni Chang? She... misses you quite a bit."
Sang Jiang raised an eyebrow slightly in surprise upon hearing his words, and her eyes became more serious as she looked at Lord Zhang: "Didn't Lord Zhang already reject Ni Chang? Why are you still concerned about her now?"
Lord Zhang's expression stiffened slightly. He pursed his lips before continuing, "Your Majesty, I am only acting in accordance with official business. It's not just Princess Ni Chang; His Majesty and His Highness the Crown Prince also miss the princess. If the princess has anything to say, I can bring it back with me."
Sang Jiang looked at him and chuckled softly, "Is that so?"
Lord Zhang didn't know what she meant, so he didn't say anything for a moment.
Sang Jiang didn't expect him to say anything. She turned the cup on the table and said casually, "Actually, the truth is sometimes not what you imagine. Wouldn't it be a pity to miss out on your life because of some unfounded things, Lord Zhang?"
Lord Zhang paused slightly with his hands hanging at his sides, and after three seconds he smiled and said, "Your Highness is joking. I don't know what Your Highness means by this."
“Hmm.” Sang Jiang nodded and continued, “Lord Zhang, there’s no need to rush to respond to me. The choice is yours. If you don’t think so, then so be it. I was just saying it casually. But some things still need to be looked at carefully.”
Her tone was casual, as if she were saying something ordinary.
"Since the princess has nothing more to say, this humble servant will take his leave." He said, bowing and clasping his hands in greeting to Sang Jiang once more.
"Wait." Sang Jiang called out to him and turned to Chunhe beside her: "Go and get the things prepared for Ni Chang."
"Yes, I'll go right away." Chunhe nodded and turned to get the things.
Now only Sang Jiang and Lord Zhang were left in the courtyard.
He looked at Lord Zhang and shook his head slightly.
Based on the plot he had seen before, he knew that Lord Zhang was actually the crown prince of a small country that was subordinate to Xifeng Kingdom.
Later, that country was destroyed by the soldiers of Xifeng. Lord Zhang always believed that the emperor of Xifeng was responsible for this, so he went into hiding and became an official in Xifeng, waiting for an opportunity to take revenge.
In fact, Lord Zhang wasn't entirely without a chance for revenge, but when he thought of the Emperor's love for the people, he felt that the Emperor was a good emperor, so he kept hesitating between taking action and not taking action.
Now that there's another woman, Nangong Nishang, he's even more hesitant.
Lord Zhang felt slightly uncomfortable under her gaze. Her eyes were so innocent, yet there was a sense that she knew everything.
Just as Lord Zhang hesitated whether to speak, Chunhe handed him a box: "Lord Zhang, this is for you."
Lord Zhang accepted the item from his hand and nodded slightly.
Sang Jiang looked at him and said slowly, "Lord Zhang, go back and tell Ni Chang that there is something he wants here. You can also think about what I just said..."
