Chapter 45 My name is Wei Qing

The Empress stood in front of the two peonies and looked at them carefully. Liu Mama then spoke up, "Your Majesty, look how beautiful this one is, how much it resembles you."

"Is that so?" The Empress glanced at the other peony, then reached out, plucked it off, threw it on the ground, and kicked it into the dirt.

"Your Majesty, what's wrong?" Granny Liu looked at the Empress in confusion.

The Empress bent slightly and gently touched another peony with her hand, which was painted with bright red nail polish: "Where is a single flower more beautiful than a pair of flowers blooming together? And you said this one looks like me, so what about the other one?"

"This..." Granny Liu was momentarily speechless. "What Your Highness says is true."

After looking for about ten more seconds, the Empress straightened up and said, "I'm tired too. Let's go. There's nothing much to see."

Sang Jiang wondered if it was just her imagination, but she felt that the Empress had glanced at her almost imperceptibly before leaving.

After the Empress had gone far away, Sang Ruo took Sang Jiang out. It wasn't that she was afraid of the Empress, but she was too lazy to play along with her. Sang Jiang thought the same way, so she went along with her.

Seeing that Sang Jiang was very interested in the flowers and plants, Sang Ruo took her for a while longer. When they returned, Wan Ting had already prepared a large table of food.

Sang Jiang couldn't help but gasp at the sight of what looked like a Manchu Han Imperial Feast: "So much! Can we finish it all?"

Sang Ruo frowned slightly. She usually wouldn't make so much stuff; she felt it was a waste.

Wan Ting saw through her thoughts and curtsied slightly: "Your Majesty, this was sent from the Empress Dowager's side."

When Sang Ruo heard the Empress Dowager's name, her brows furrowed even more. After a long while, she waved her hand and said, "Alright, go and thank the Empress Dowager. Tell her that I appreciate her kindness, but there's no need for her to send any more gifts in the future."

"Yes." Wan Ting accepted the order and went to carry it out.

After Sang Jiang finished her business, she sat down and licked her small, red lips as she looked at Sang Ruo: "Your Majesty, may I eat now?"

"Dry rice?" Sang Ruo asked, puzzled.

Sang Jiang smacked her lips: "It's just eating."

Sang Ruo chuckled softly as she watched her drooling, "Mmm."

Seeing that she nodded, Sang Jiang immediately tore off a large chicken leg and began to devour it.

While eating, they also commented on which dishes were delicious and which were not.

Compared to her wolfing down her food, Sang Ruo appeared much more ladylike. She didn't eat much and mostly just watched Sang Jiang eat.

Sang Ruo couldn't help but wonder to herself, "Doesn't Mother feed Sang Jiang? She's like a starving ghost."

She knew that Sang Jiang was having a hard time in the Prime Minister's residence, but she didn't expect it to be this bad. Thinking of Sang Ruo, she couldn't help but soften her heart towards Sang Jiang a little more.

After Sang Jiang finished eating, she took Kou'er back to rest.

In the middle of the night, she suddenly felt an itch on her nose.

"Achoo!" Sang Jiang sneezed loudly and sat up while rubbing her nose.

She rubbed her eyes groggily, and when she finally saw what was happening, she started wailing.

It wasn't that she wanted to make a "woo-woo" sound, but her mouth was covered, so she could only make a "woo-woo" sound.

Sang Jiang frowned as she looked at the man in front of her. He wasn't very old and was handsome, but his white hair looked very strange under the moonlight.

Sang Jiang subconsciously thought she had encountered a ghost, so she closed her eyes and lay back down. When she opened her eyes again, the man was still sitting at the head of her bed.

Just as Sang Jiang was about to cry out, she saw the man raise his hand, and she quickly covered her mouth, not daring to make a sound.

Is this a ghost or a vampire?!

But that shouldn't be the case; she didn't notice there were vampires in the novel when she read it before.

Sang Jiang hugged the blanket and shrank back while speaking softly, "Big brother, I have no money. If you want to rob someone, go find the emperor. He has money. He is the richest man in the palace. I have no beauty either. I am just a little palace maid. Waaah, you should leave now."

"My name is Wei Qing."

Seeing her like this, the man couldn't help but speak up, his words and face full of contempt.

Upon hearing these four words, Sang Jiang frantically searched her mind for everything about him.

"Wei Qing..."

Her pupils suddenly contracted, and she froze completely...
