Jingren Palace.
"Your Majesty, please don't panic. There might be more to this than meets the eye." While trying to calm the Empress, Lin Mama angrily rebuked the young maid, "Are you sure that's the Emperor? Did you see clearly?!"
The young palace maid nodded repeatedly upon hearing this: "Everything I said is true, Your Majesty. I happened to get up in the middle of the night and heard people talking on the roof of the Fourth Miss's room. When I looked up, I saw the Emperor and the Fourth Miss... embracing each other."
By the end, the little palace maid's voice had become so soft it was almost inaudible.
This time, the Empress slammed her chopsticks on the table with a loud "bang": "I'll tell you! That little slut!"
Lin Mama looked up at the young palace maid and said, "Alright, you can go back now. Keep this to yourself, or you might lose your life if it gets back to the Emperor."
"Yes, ma'am." The little palace maid lowered her head and slowly retreated.
As soon as the maid left, the Empress looked directly at Granny Lin and gritted her teeth, saying, "Go find Xuan Yu and tell him the plan will proceed ahead of schedule!"
"Your Majesty, please reconsider. This old servant believes it is not the right time yet," Lin Mama gently advised.
The Empress's eyes flashed, and she stared fiercely ahead: "I can't wait any longer, let's go now!"
As she spoke, she waved to Granny Lin, signaling her to go and prepare.
After hesitating for a while, Granny Lin nodded: "This old servant will go right away."
After saying that, he walked straight out of Jingren Palace.
She usually handles these things herself because she doesn't really trust anyone else.
...
Jinghe Palace.
Sang Jiang squinted at Sang Rui while constantly putting grapes from the table into her mouth.
Sang Rui didn't even glance at her, her eyes fixed on the medical manual in her hands.
She's become immune to what Sang Jiang has shown her these past few days.
Seeing that she wouldn't eat or drink anything, Sang Jiang was at her wit's end and decided to go back to sleep.
“My dear Kou’er, what do you think Sang Rui likes?” Sang Jiang sat on the bed, frowning in thought.
Kou'er shook her head: "This, this servant does not know."
Sang Rui grew up in the countryside, so she didn't know Sang Rui very well.
Sang Jiang smacked her lips, just about to say she was going to get something to eat, when a palace maid walked in carrying a food box.
Her eyes lit up, and she immediately sat up with a somersault.
It was her favorite mung bean cake. Kou'er sighed and went over to hand it to her by the bedside.
Sang Jiang chuckled and praised Kou'er, "You're really perceptive." Then she lay back down, sipping her pastry and lost in thought.
"Sister Kou'er." A palace maid walked in directly from outside the door. She was slightly taken aback when she saw Sang Jiang on the bed, and then gave her a proper bow: "Fourth Miss."
Sang Jiang raised an eyebrow: "You all say what you want, don't worry about me."
The young palace maid glanced at Sang Jiang and then at Kou'er, unsure of what to say.
Kou'er smiled and said, "Let's go outside and talk."
The young palace maid glanced gratefully at Kou'er, nodded, curtsied to Sang Jiang, and then gracefully followed behind Kou'er.
Sang Jiang wasn't particularly curious about the matter, so she ignored the two of them and continued munching on her mung bean cake.
Gradually, she suddenly realized that something seemed off about her, and she felt inexplicably hot.
She kicked off the blanket beside her, went downstairs to pour herself a glass of iced tea, and the cool sensation as it slowly slid down her throat made her exhale comfortably.
It was already quite hot outside, but she had a habit of not being able to sleep without a blanket, so she assumed it was just because of the heat. However, when she felt waves of heat rising from her body again, Sang Jiang realized that things might not be as simple as she thought...
