"Huanyun," Nian Shihua interrupted her, one hand clutching the bleeding wound on his chest, "Have you forgotten the rules?"
Huan Yun pursed her lips and shut her mouth with a look of dissatisfaction.
Nian Shihua sat down in his room and pulled down the black veil covering his face, revealing his deathly pale face.
He wasn't originally that fair-skinned; after more than two years without sunlight, he's now deathly pale. And it's not just him; Huanyun and the other two are too.
Huanyun quickly brought over a bottle of wound medicine. Nian Shihua glanced at her, gently tore open the small part of her clothes at the chest, took the wound medicine from her and sprinkled it directly on her wound. She then took a piece of white cloth from her and bandaged herself up.
Huan Yun frowned as she looked at him. She wanted to help him, but Nian Shihua had never allowed anyone to touch him. Huan Yun silently withdrew her outstretched hand.
She took the wound medicine from Nian Shihua and was about to say something when Nian Shihua lay down on the bed: "You go back first, I want to rest."
Huan Yun pursed her lips, nodded, and silently walked out to close the door behind her.
Jinghe Palace.
Sang Jiang knew that Sang Ruo was upset, so she consciously chose not to disturb her. It wasn't until dinner time that she got up and went to Sang Ruo's bedroom. Looking at Sang Ruo lying on the bed, she said in a cheeky tone, "Get up."
Sang Ruo is actually very strong-willed. If Sang Jiang makes her feel sorry for her because of this, she will only feel worse. So what she needs to do now is to act as if nothing happened and give her enough space.
Sang Ruo stared blankly at the ceiling. Only after hearing Sang Jiang's words did she blink and look at Sang Jiang, asking, "What?"
Her voice was a little hoarse, clearly indicating that she had just been crying. Sang Jiang sighed slightly. She was now only grateful that she was free from love and care. Apart from missing her parents who were far away, she thought she had successfully become someone who could be waited on hand and foot.
This is the kind of laid-back, carefree life she wants.
"Damn it!" Sang Jiang said irritably.
As a perpetually single, straight woman, she couldn't understand why these people acted so dramaticly after a breakup, so seeing Sang Ruo like this made her feel sorry for her and a little angry.
Sang Ru blinked her slightly dry eyes and shook her head.
Sang Jiang: ...
Can she scold her?
How do you comfort a woman who has just broken up with her boyfriend?
Someone, please help her! This is really messed up for her.
She looked at Sang Ruo, somewhat at a loss, unsure of what to say next.
After a while, Wanting sneaked in from outside. When she saw Wanting come in, Sang Ruo's eyes were noticeably brighter than before.
"Your Majesty," Wan Ting curtsied, "This servant just inquired, and someone in the Empress's courtyard said that the young master went to the Empress's place and was... was punished by the Empress..."
Towards the end, her voice was so low it was almost inaudible.
When Sang Ruo finally reached the end, tears streamed down her face again. She got up and rushed outside, but Sang Jiang quickly grabbed her arm.
"Where are you going!" Her tone was very unpleasant.
Sang Ruo turned to look at her and said, word by word, "I'm going to save him!"
Sang Jiang pulled her back with a strong force. Sang Ruo, who hadn't eaten all day, felt weak all over and was thrown onto the bed by Sang Jiang. The dull pain in her waist gradually brought her back to her senses.
She looked up at Sang Jiang, her face streaked with tears.
Sang Jiang turned her head away from her: "You believe the Empress's words? If you go now, who knows what awaits you?"
