Sang Jiang didn't care what he was thinking. She kept glancing around at the vendors on the opposite street.
She was more interested in the food than herself.
Long Jingyu saw through her thoughts, put an arm around her waist, and pulled her down.
The two of them stood steadily in front of a stall selling roasted chestnuts.
The stall owner was slightly taken aback when he saw the two of them; they were simply too outstanding in appearance. The man was gentle and refined, while the woman was quite flamboyant.
The stall owner followed Sang Jiang's gaze and saw her looking at the roasted chestnuts he was stirring in his hand.
He filled a bag and handed it to Sang Jiang, then looked at Long Jingyu and said, "Your Majesty is so beautiful. You are truly blessed."
Long Jingyu was perhaps pleased by his words. As she watched Sang Jiang, who had already run to another stall with roasted chestnuts, her smile deepened. She took out a piece of silver and tossed it into the stall owner's hand: "Consider the rest a reward."
The stall owner, while taking the silver, said, "Thank you, sir. Thank you, madam."
Long Jingyu didn't refute, and simply followed Sang Jiang's steps.
The deepening curve of his lips revealed his excellent mood. Deputy General Chen saw Long Jingyu smiling brightly from afar and hurriedly ran over.
"Eighth Prince." Deputy General Chen clasped his hands in greeting.
Long Jingyu glanced at him, the smile on his lips vanished instantly, and he nodded: "Mm."
Deputy General Chen was a rough and uncultured man, so how could he understand what she meant? He looked at Long Jingyu and scratched his head in confusion: "Eighth Prince, what are you looking at?"
As he spoke, he looked in Long Jingyu's direction, but after a few glances, he couldn't figure out what was so funny that Long Jingyu was smiling so happily.
Long Jingyu stepped forward, subtly blocking his way: "It's nothing."
After saying that, he walked directly towards Sang Jiang, who had already gotten the candied hawthorn she had been longing for from the old man from that day.
After paying, she took a bite. The sugar coating slowly melted in her mouth before she took a bite of the hawthorn inside. It was so sour that she squinted her eyes.
Looking at the candied hawthorn skewer in her hand with one bite in it, Sang Jiang couldn't help but recall the first time she ate a whole skewer of candied hawthorn skewers.
She had a high fever that wouldn't go down. To cheer her up, her mother bought her a string of candied hawthorns. She never used to eat candied hawthorns, but she ate the whole string in one go. After that, she fell in love with the taste of candied hawthorns. However, the candied hawthorns she ate later gradually lost their sourness.
She was overwhelmed with mixed feelings. When she finally composed herself and turned around, she found that Long Jingyu had disappeared.
Sang Jiang frowned and took a few steps forward, but still couldn't see the man. She was a little anxious. She wasn't worried about what would happen to Long Jingyu, but she was afraid that she would get lost.
After walking about two hundred meters, she finally saw Long Jingyu at the corner. A burly man had appeared beside him at some point. The man looked somewhat simple and honest and kept looking at Long Jingyu while talking to him.
Long Jingyu seemed a little impatient. He frowned slightly, but his handsome brows relaxed the moment he saw Sang Jiang.
Because they were too far apart, she didn't know what he said to the man next to him. She only saw the man chuckle憨厚ly and then jog away.
The moment the man left his lips, that signature smile returned.
He walked slowly but quickly to Sang Jiang, who glanced at him but didn't say anything.
When they arrived at a pawn shop, he looked at Sang Jiang and said, "Wait for me a moment, I'm going to get something."
Sang Jiang nodded, then her gaze shifted and she saw a familiar figure. She subconsciously frowned, and was about to leave...
