Chapter 30 Truth or Dare

"What are you afraid of? This isn't a live broadcast. You can say whatever you want, and the director can just cut it out. Of course, if Miss Xia feels that I've invaded your privacy, you can choose not to answer. I just hope that we can relax a bit while recording this program and have a chance to confide in each other." Shen Li smoothed things over, deftly extricating herself from the situation.

Shen Li always chooses Xia Wan when making comments, not only because she wants to generate buzz, but also because she harbors a latent hostility towards Xia Wan.

Xia Wan didn't understand why Shen Li disliked her. It was their first meeting, and perhaps it was because she was too outstanding that she attracted hostility. After all, this wasn't the first time something like this had happened.

Host Li Le tried to ease the tense atmosphere: "It's okay, everyone can chat freely. If you don't want to talk about something, then don't. Let's continue watching the screen. I'm very curious about the barbecue that Zhuang Yan and the others made tonight."

Just when everyone thought the matter was over, Xia Wan unexpectedly answered the question that Shen Li had just raised.

"I don't understand Zhuang Yan. Before this, everyone around me said he loved me very much, but now I see that love can be acted out. Perhaps, as netizens say, marriage alliances only have interests and no true feelings. I am very fortunate that I have kept my heart and not let myself fall into it during the three years I have been with him."

Gu Qian was moved. He reached out and took Xia Wan's hand. To outsiders, the two looked like a very loving couple.

Xia Wan's inner feelings were not as calm as her face showed. When Gu Qian held her hand, she subconsciously clenched her fist, and did not loosen her grip even in his hand.

Xia Wan cared about Zhuang Yan more than she had imagined. Perhaps she herself didn't realize it. When she said these words, she felt a sense of loss and anger at being abandoned by Zhuang Yan.

Her eyes were fixed on the live stream screen. What was she thinking at that moment?

She wanted to rush in and confront Zhuang Yan, asking him if his kindness towards her over the past three years had been genuine, and why he could say he didn't love her anymore.

Xia Wan's mind was in chaos. It wasn't until Gu Qian held her hand that she slowly came to her senses. She and Zhuang Yan were over, and asking these questions would only humiliate her.

Why should she waste her time and energy on "unimportant people and things"?

Zhuang Yan has now been kicked out of the Zhuang family by his parents, which means that from now on, whoever he dates or marries will be someone he truly loves, and will no longer be involved in family interests.

If Zhuang Yan's love for her was just an act, what will he be like when he truly loves someone in the future? Will he treat her a million times better than he treated her?

The thought of the person who had been insincere towards her turning around and being deeply in love with another woman suddenly gave Xia Wan a lingering, aching feeling that surged through her body.

Gu Qian held Xia Wan's hand and said, "Anyway, I can't do something like deceiving a girl's feelings for the sake of profit. Here, I also sincerely hope that Zhuang Yan can treat the people around him with sincerity in the future. You can't act forever."

...

At the cabin, Zhuang Yan had already prepared all the dishes and was ready to grill them.

Fang Chen and Ling Xuan had already set up the barbecue grill, and the female guest was in charge of helping out, bringing out stools, drinks, washing dishes and chopsticks and bringing them over.

Zhuang Yan was in charge of grilling the meat. He was sweating profusely, his cheeks turned red in the smoke, and his hair was wet.

Zhuang Yan is not only good at cooking, but also a first-rate barbecue chef. As soon as he sprinkles the seasonings he bought, the staff watching all swallowed their saliva.

As evening approached, the temperature dropped, and the cool evening breeze felt particularly comfortable. The night sky was like a tilted Milky Way, and even the moon seemed rounder and brighter than it appeared in the city.

Not only was there a moon, but there were also fireflies in the grass. Such a scene was extremely rare for these city dwellers.

Ling Xuan sat on a recliner, looking at the night sky, and said, "Eating barbecue skewers, drinking cold beer, feeling the breeze, and watching the stars and moon, this is such a great life, I don't want to go back."

Although there are many inconveniences in this village, escaping the hustle and bustle of the city and immersing oneself in nature, one's restless mind is gradually replaced by tranquility, allowing one to enjoy the peaceful moments of life.

After everyone had eaten and drunk their fill, the director suggested playing Truth or Dare, hoping that the two sides would get to know each other better through the game.

Each guest harbors many secrets, especially Zhuang Yan. You might be able to get some information out of him by asking him to speak the truth, and you might even be able to push the conflicts and contradictions between the guests to the forefront.

An Xinrong asked, "Want to play?" She didn't care anyway, since the night was still long and she had nothing to do. The production team didn't provide cell phones, so she could only stare blankly and try to sleep when she got back to her room.

Zhuang Yan: "I'm fine with anything."

Lu Yan chimed in with her opinion: "Shall we play for a while?"

How do you play?

Zhuang Yan looked around and picked up a wine bottle: "The question is about spinning the bottle; whoever the bottle tip points to is the one who is being asked the question."

"Sure, I have no objection."

"Then let's play."

Zhuang Yan was the first to spin the bottle, and Fang Chen ended up with the bottle opening facing the other side.

Zhuang Yan asked, "Truth or Dare?"

Fang Chen: "Truly speaking."

Tell me about your profession.

"I founded a game company. It's only been around for a short time, and we do everything..."

An Xinrong asked curiously, "A game company? What kind of game?"

Fang Chen mentioned a game name, which was immediately recognizable to a gamer like Ling Xuan.

"I've played this single-player game, it's quite fun, and it was pretty popular for a while. I never imagined it was developed by you."

[I didn't expect Fang Chen to be so amazing. At such a young age, he developed a popular game and founded a company. He's probably the most impressive among these guests, considering he comes from a rural background with no money and had to rely on his own hard work, unlike some people who were born into wealthy families.]
