Chapter 27 Wolfish Ambition

An Xinrong takes a long time to shower. She not only needs to wash her body but also her hair. After showering, she needs to style her hair, put on some light makeup, spray some perfume, and apply sunscreen... The whole process takes an hour.

Jiang Ning called her twice before she came out of the room.

An Xinrong didn't feel hungry at first, but when she saw the dishes on the table, her stomach started rumbling instantly.

Just as she was about to sit down, she saw a large plate of meat in the middle that she didn't recognize, and a bad feeling arose in her heart: "What is this? Is it fish? I've never seen fish meat like this before."

Fang Chen gave Zhuang Yan a look, reminding her not to say it was an eel, otherwise who knows what kind of trouble this young lady would cause if she got angry.

Zhuang Yan received the message, but he still chose to tell the truth: "These are eels, the two you brought back. I thought we'd be having vegetarian lunch today, but we ended up having meat instead."

An Xinrong's expression changed: "What...didn't I tell you not to make it? I won't eat it!"

"If you don't eat, does that mean no one else will? This isn't your home." Zhuang Yan calmly picked up a piece of eel, put it in his mouth in front of An Xinrong, and said while chewing, "It's delicious. This should be eaten while it's hot. You guys should eat too."

Apart from An Xinrong, everyone present was not picky about food, and immediately picked up their chopsticks when Zhuang Yan said it was delicious.

"It's really delicious. It's my first time eating eel."

"It looks quite scary, but I didn't expect the meat to be so tender and boneless."

"Zhuang Yan, your cooking is amazing. Why don't you consider opening a restaurant?"

Ignoring An Xinrong, the group at the table gave the dish high praise and raved about it.

An Xinrong sat down, fuming. She dared to say it but not to do it. If she were really asked to mess things up, she didn't know how much she would be scolded.

An Xinrong has always presented herself as genuine and straightforward, perhaps out of habit, she says whatever comes to mind.

It's a typical case of the mouth talking while the brain follows, and afterwards, they regret what they said, even though that's not what they really meant.

An Xinrong silently picked at the white rice in her bowl, but her eyes kept glancing at the eel in the middle.

She wanted to try it and see if it was really as delicious as they said.

An Xinrong also likes Sichuan cuisine, which is strong in flavor. She rarely eats foods with chili oil, as she needs to maintain her figure.

But she had been harvesting rice all morning and was very hungry and craving something, and the bland cabbage and rice were hardly enough to satisfy her appetite.

Sitting opposite her, Zhuang Yan could see very clearly that An Xinrong clearly wanted to eat but didn't dare to pick up any.

"Try it, it's not as scary as you think." Seeing that An Xinrong didn't react, Zhuang Yan changed his strategy and tone, "Or are you afraid to eat it? It turns out that Miss An is so timid, even more timid than a mudfish."

"Who says I'm a coward? It's just a mere eel!" An Xinrong picked up a piece of meat with her chopsticks, but the thought of a live eel still made her a little scared.

But since she had already taken the food, she couldn't just throw it away. An Xinrong stared at it for two seconds. "I don't want to eat it. I'm just curious about the taste."

After saying that, she opened her mouth and gulped it down. The meat was tender and smooth, and very appetizing.

It turns out it wasn't so scary after all; it really was as delicious as Zhuang Yan said.

Zhuang Yan looked at her with a smile: "Isn't it delicious? Not as hard to swallow as you imagined?"

An Xinrong muttered, "It's just so-so." But as she said that, she picked up the next piece of food with her chopsticks.

Zhuang Yan looked at An Xinrong like a child who didn't know any better. Seeing her eating obediently, a sense of relief welled up inside him.

An Xinrong, who had been vehemently refusing to eat it even if she died just a moment ago, suddenly found it delicious.

The "it smells so good" principle will never go out of style.

There wasn't enough eel in this pot for six people; they wanted more after they finished eating.

Several grown men decided that if they had nothing to do in the afternoon, they would go to the fields to catch eels and loaches, which would solve their living expenses problem.
