Chapter 149 Reply

When Nan Wusi woke up, it was already the next morning. She sat up abruptly in bed, checked her clothes, and breathed a sigh of relief when she saw that they were all intact.

When Nan Wusi got up, she found a note on the table that said Xiao Yi had returned to the manor to handle official business and that breakfast had been prepared for her. She could simply call for Mother Yang.

"Mother Yang?" Nan Wusi tried calling towards the door.

"Miss Nan, you're awake." Madam Yang bowed respectfully. "Breakfast has been prepared for you. Would you like to eat now?"

"Please fetch me some water to wash up first, and then we can have our meal. Thank you." Nan Wusi didn't put on any airs, which won over Mother Yang.

After Yang's mother served Nan Wusi the water to wash up, she also set out breakfast on the table.

Looking at the abundant variety of snacks, Nan Wusi asked, "Mama Yang, did His Highness Prince Yi ask you to buy all of these?"

"Yes, Miss Nan, the Prince specifically requested that I buy these snacks," Madam Yang replied truthfully, making Nan Wusi feel very pleased.

"Xiao Yi, thank you," Nan Wusi murmured to herself.

"Sisi, you're up? Did you enjoy breakfast?" Xiao Yi replied.

"Yes, it's especially delicious," Nan Wusi replied with a smile.

"Okay, sure." Xiao Yi replied, and then there were no further messages.

However, in Xuan Li's eyes, the prince, who had just been looking serious, suddenly started grinning foolishly.

Xuan Li sensed that the prince seemed to be acting increasingly strangely lately, but he didn't know why. In the end, he could only attribute it to the fact that love makes people stupid.

Although Xuan Li initially thought that Nan Wusi was not good enough for his prince, after spending so much time together, he saw that their relationship was getting better and better. So now, even though Nan Wusi was ugly, he no longer felt contempt for him.

Xuan Li now actually hopes that the two of them can be together openly, because he has noticed that the prince has been smiling more and more in recent months, and these are genuine smiles.

After finishing her breakfast, Nan Wusi climbed out again through the spot where she had previously slipped away; she dared not casually walk through the main entrance.

Upon returning to the general's mansion, Nan Wusi found that there was no commotion inside and secretly breathed a sigh of relief.

When she returned to her courtyard, she found the bedroom door wide open, which made her suspicious.

She peeked in through the doorway and met Nan Wuyu's bloodshot eyes.

"Ah!!!" Nan Wusi screamed, so frightened he almost jumped up.

"Second Brother? What are you doing sitting in my room in broad daylight? You're scaring me half to death." Nan Wusi patted his chest, trying to calm his frightened heart.

"Where did you go last night?" Nan Wuyu didn't answer Nan Wusi, but asked in return.

"Huh?" Upon hearing this, Nan Wusi thought to himself, "This is bad. It's such bad luck to get caught like this on a rare outing."

Nan Wusi's eyes darted around, and he stammered, "I didn't go anywhere to play, I just went out to relax."

"You went to a brothel again?" Nan Wuyu could tell from Nan Wusi's expression that she hadn't gone to any decent places.

"This...I..." Nan Wusi couldn't think of an excuse for a moment, so he simply gave up and said, "Second brother is really wise and powerful, he can guess everything, hehe."

"Just smell the perfume you're wearing, and you'll know pretty well where you've been," Nan Wuyu said casually, glancing at Nan Wusi.

"Huh?" Nan Wusi raised her arm and sniffed carefully. How come she couldn't smell it? Was her second brother born in the Year of the Dog?

"Second Brother, you didn't sleep all night, did you?" Nan Wusi looked at Nan Wuyu's red eyes and knew that he had stayed up all night.

"Who gave me this trouble?" Nan Wuyu was furious. This little sister was still so troublesome.

"Hehe, I was wrong. Second brother, have you had breakfast yet? I'll arrange it for you right away," Nan Wusi asked solicitously.

"No, I'm too angry to be anything but." Nan Wuyu rolled his eyes at Nan Wusi.

"Oh dear, I was really wrong. I was just feeling down yesterday and went out to relax, but I mistakenly took wine for water, which is why I didn't come back," Nan Wusi explained.

Little did she know that her explanation would only make things worse. "What? You've been drinking?"

Nan Wuyu knew perfectly well what Nan Wusi was like when she was drunk. He hadn't expected that going out to play last night would end with her drinking, even though it wasn't her own choice to drink.

"Who are you with? Xiao Yi?" Nan Wuyu asked, staring at Nan Wusi, making her scalp tingle.

"Ah, um." Nan Wusi nodded honestly, "But he left a long time ago, and I slept in my room by myself."

The more Nan Wuyu explained, the darker her face became. She thought to herself, "This is it. My second brother didn't like Xiao Yi to begin with, and now he probably hates him even more."

Nan Wusi could only silently light a candle for Xiao Yi in his heart, feeling powerless to do anything about it.

Xiao Yi seemed to sense something, and frowned, startling his subordinate who was reporting to him, who was afraid that he had said something wrong.

Do you know why I came to see you yesterday?

Originally, Nan Wuyu hadn't planned to come looking for her, but coincidentally, he received his parents' reply, and since Nan Wusi had been thinking about this matter, he came to find her.

But no one came back after waiting all night, which led to this scene this morning.

But Nan Wusi had no idea and shook his head blankly.

"Take a look for yourself." Nan Wuyu handed over the letter in his hand.

Nan Wusi took it and exclaimed with delight, "It's a reply from my parents!"

So Nan Wusi began to read it carefully. Although her handwriting was ugly, it did not prevent her from reading the letter.

Jiang Zhirou first greeted her two children in her heart, and then told them about their current situation, in essence, that they were doing well and asked the two siblings not to worry about her.

As for what Namo Yu mentioned in his previous letter, they are now aware of it and will carefully observe the military's movements to reassure them.

At the end of the letter, Jiang Zhirou also scolded Nan Wuyu for daring to conceal his injury and told Nan Wusi to keep a close eye on him and not to do anything dangerous.

"Second brother, Mother told me to keep an eye on you, haha." Nan Wusi said with a hint of schadenfreude.

"Hehe, why don't you give it a try?" Nan Wuyu looked at Nan Wusi with a forced smile.

"Haha, just kidding." Nan Wusi didn't dare to question his second brother; it was just a joke.

"I didn't expect that your scribbles would actually be able to be deciphered by Mother. You two are truly mother and daughter." Nan Wuyu shook his head. The reason he didn't stop Nan Wusi from including his letter was simply because he thought that even if his parents read it, they wouldn't understand it.

"Of course." Nan Wusi proudly raised her head, knowing that her writing wasn't that bad.
