Chapter 195 Jiang Zhirou Presents a Treasure

"Sisi, look what good things I brought you." Not long after Nan Wusi returned to her room after meeting Ouyang Xinxi, she saw Jiang Zhirou walking over excitedly.

"Mother, what is this?" Nan Wusi asked curiously, her eyes wide with curiosity, wanting to see what Jiang Zhirou had brought.

“This is it.” Jiang Zhirou handed the item in her hand to Nan Wusi, explaining as she did so: “It is said that applying this to the face can make one’s skin whiter. The storyteller at the teahouse has been telling this story a lot lately, and I was curious, so I bought it to try.”

Watching Jiang Zhirou's gesture as if she were presenting a treasure, Nan Wusi's lips twitched.

It seems this storyteller is in cahoots with these resellers. They first attract people's attention with their stories to arouse their curiosity, and then the resellers sell the goods, killing two birds with one stone.

"Mother, how much did you pay for this?" Nan Wusi took it. It was actually a foundation from her shop, and the lightest shade at that. She usually wouldn't recommend it to ladies and young women unless they already had very fair skin.

“One hundred taels of silver,” Jiang Zhirou replied.

"Pfft." Nan Wusi didn't expect that the goods that she couldn't sell in her shop would be sold for a hundred taels here. This merchant's ability to buy and sell is really quite impressive.

"Mother, you've been tricked!" Nan Wusi said to her, "This is called foundation, and it sells for fifty taels of silver in the capital."

"It's twice as expensive." Jiang Zhirou said thoughtfully, "But this is the only store selling it at the border, so it's normal for them to charge more, considering how far away it is."

Jiang Zhirou's statement does have some merit, but who is Nan Wusi? She is the manufacturer of these goods.

So she casually said, "Mom, you don't need to buy these cosmetics. I have as many as you want here."

"Huh?" Jiang Zhirou was taken aback for a moment, then said, "You robbed them?"

"Mother! Am I that kind of person?" Nan Wusi shouted in dissatisfaction. She hadn't expected that she was still seen this way in her mother's eyes.

"Hehe." Jiang Zhirou awkwardly touched her nose, accidentally blurting out what was on her mind.

“I made all these cosmetics, and this foundation comes in more than a dozen shades, but the one you bought is the least popular one,” Nan Wusi explained helplessly, rubbing his forehead.

"Really?" Jiang Zhirou was still somewhat skeptical. Did her daughter really have this ability?

Although she knew that Nan Wusi had started her own clothing store, at least it was clothing. Cosmetics were such a novel thing, and she actually created them.

Seeing Jiang Zhirou's disbelieving expression, Nan Wusi sighed helplessly, "Mother, wait for me, I'll make you a bunch of new gadgets tomorrow."

"Alright then, I'll be waiting for you." Jiang Zhirou nodded in satisfaction and left, never expecting her daughter to give her such a big surprise.

After making her promise to Jiang Zhirou, Nan Wusi pretended to go out on the street and picked out some random things as a cover to avoid people questioning how she could make these cosmetics without any materials.

While she was strolling down the street, she actually ran into the reseller.

She had initially assumed these vendors were all greasy, fat middle-aged men, but it turned out they were the handsome young men who had invited them to the bonfire party that day.

“It’s you.” Nan Wusi stepped forward and spoke to him.

"Hey young lady, we meet again." The handsome young man laughed heartily. "How about trying our stuff? We guarantee you'll become three shades lighter."

The handsome young man enthusiastically recommended the products in his hands, while Nan Wusi stood there listening to him. She even wanted to applaud him; in modern times, he would definitely be a top sales performer.

"Miss, would you be interested in buying it and trying it out? It's sure to impress your sweetheart," the handsome young man said at the end.

"I'm so sorry, my sweetheart is blind," Nan Wusi said with a smile.

"Ah, sorry, I forgot for a moment." The handsome young man scratched his head. He had seen Xiao Yi that day and knew that he was blind.

"Since you're not interested, why have you been standing here listening to me for so long?" Anyone would be angry after talking for so long if the other person had no intention of buying, but this handsome young man didn't get angry at all. Instead, he asked politely.

"You wouldn't happen to be the friend the storyteller was talking about, would you?" Nan Wusi didn't answer the handsome young man's question, but instead asked a seemingly random question.

"Wow, you're really clever, young lady. You even guessed that." The handsome young man looked surprised.

"So, how are things between you and your sweetheart?" Nan Wusi asked, wanting to know what happened after the woman fell into the water. After all, the storyteller had stopped there, which only fueled people's curiosity about the item in the story that could make people's skin whiter.

"Hehe, young lady, you know perfectly well what I'm asking. Now that I've returned to this border, I naturally came back alone," the handsome young man replied.

"So, you left your beloved just because she became ugly?" Nan Wusi's eyes sharpened.

"No, no." The handsome young man shook his head. "She left me. I just didn't want to be deceived anymore, so I planned that time I fell into the lake. Even after seeing what she looked like, I didn't despise her because she was a really good person."

"I was very happy during the time we were together. She was virtuous and gentle, and she would always support me no matter what I said. But I never expected that she would insist on breaking off all contact with me and say that she was not good enough for me." The handsome young man seemed to be lost in memories.

“Even though I went to see her many times, it all ended in vain. In the end, I was disheartened and returned to my hometown.”

"So you buy and sell Beautiful Life's goods to make a huge profit?" Nan Wusi glanced at him, not really believing his words.

"So the young lady is from the capital. No wonder she has such an extraordinary air about her; she's clearly not someone you can compare to." The handsome young man showed no embarrassment at being exposed.

“However, you are mistaken, young lady. This border is far from the capital and there are risks involved in traveling there and back. My price is only double that of the original price, so it is not expensive.”

"Do you know who owns this beautiful life?" Nan Wusi suddenly asked.

"I heard she's the third young lady of the General's Mansion," the handsome young man said.

"Then do you know who I am?" Nan Wusi asked again.

"I don't know, after all, this is only the second time I've met the girl," the handsome young man said with a smile.

"I am the third young lady of the General's Mansion," Nan Wusi said with a smile.
