Chapter 43 First Custom Order

The next day.

"Good morning, Manager Nan." When Nan Wusi and Ye Zi arrived at the shop, Hu Zi's mother had already been waiting at the door for a long time. She looked cautious and seemed quite uncomfortable.

Ye Zi quickly opened the door after arriving.

"Come in," Nan Wusi said to Hu Zi's mother with a smile.

Tiger's mother still looked helpless after entering the store, not knowing what to do, and could only stand there waiting for instructions.

"Ye Zi, this outfit is for you." Nan Wusi gave Ye Zi a pink dress, then handed Hu Zi's mother an orange one. "This one is for you, Hu Zi's mother. From now on, you'll wear these to work in the shop, understand?"

Nan Wusi took out her carefully selected "work clothes," two sets of clothes of the same style but different colors, so that the two of them would wear these clothes in the store from now on.

"Wow, new clothes. Thank you, Miss." Ye Zi said happily. You see, it was rare for servants to have new clothes to wear; they usually wore the uniforms made by the manor.

"Thank you, Manager Nan," Tiger's mother also thanked him.

"You two go change your clothes first," Nan Wusi said, so Ye Zi led Hu Zi's mother to the inner room to change.

"Manager Nan." Suddenly, a lady's voice came from the doorway.

"Madam An, you've arrived so early today." Nan Wusi was somewhat surprised. She had just opened the shop when Madam An arrived, so she must have timed it perfectly.

"After witnessing Manager Nan's craftsmanship yesterday, and being fortunate enough to snag the first custom order, I was naturally itching to get started, which is why I came here early this morning," Madam An said with a gentle smile.

"Please have a seat, Madam An. I will take your measurements shortly." Nan Wusi first invited Madam An to a chair and then served her a cup of tea.

Nan Wusi then sat down opposite Madam An, took out his notebook, and asked, "Madam An, which three colors do you like?"

"Colors? Let me think." After a moment's thought, Mrs. Ann replied, "I like purple the most, then blue, and finally orange."

"So what type of ready-to-wear clothing do you want?" Nan Wusi then asked.

"Well, how should I describe it?" Mrs. An seemed a little troubled, unsure how to describe the type she wanted.

"For example, do you want something grand and dignified, something luxurious and noble, or something gentle and intellectual?" Nan Wusi tried to give some examples.

"Then I'll choose something more elegant and dignified," Madam An said, selecting one that suited her status.

"Would the lady prefer a dress or a jacket and skirt? Are there any other requirements regarding the style?"

"Anything is fine. I have no other requirements." Madam An could only answer based on her intuition.

“Okay, please come to the inner room so I can take your measurements.” Nan Wusi nodded with a smile.

"That's it?" Madam An was somewhat incredulous, feeling that it seemed a bit too fast.

"Yes, after I take your measurements, you can come back in a week to try it on."

"Hmm." Madam An moved gracefully and followed Nan Wusi into the inner room.

At this moment, Ye Zi and Hu Zi's mother had already changed their clothes. Ye Zi said to her, "Sister, you can watch from the side first. I will explain it to you in detail after the guests leave."

"Okay." Tiger's mother nodded and stood quietly in the corner.

Ye Zi quickly stepped forward, took the measuring tool from Nan Wusi, and skillfully measured Madam An, while Nan Wusi recorded the data.

"Manager Nan, the decor of your shop seems quite different from other shops. Especially these three bronze mirrors, they are truly ingenious," Madam An couldn't help but chatter as she took measurements. "Did Manager Nan design this shop himself?"

"It was indeed designed by me, Nan." Nan Wusi's tone was quite proud. Over the past three years, the bronze mirror had been made to life-size and polished to a shine. She deliberately placed one bronze mirror in the main hall, another in the measuring room, and yet another in the fitting room. Many ladies and young misses couldn't help but want to look at themselves after seeing it.

"Manager Nan is truly talented," Madam An exclaimed.

"Madam is too kind." Nan Wusi was secretly pleased, but she was very modest. This was the first time she had heard someone praise her talent, and she couldn't help but feel secretly delighted.

After Ye Zi had taken all the measurements, Nan Wusi said, "Madam, that's all. Please come back in a week to try on the clothes; just bring our number tag."

"Okay, I'll definitely be there on time." Madam An smiled and then left the shop.

"Manager, the people we serve in the shop are all noble ladies. What should I do if I, with my humble appearance, offend such distinguished guests?" Tiger's mother said, trembling with fear.

"It's alright, just start with the simplest things. Yezi will teach you slowly, no need to rush," Nan Wusi said with a smile. She felt that Hu Zi's mother was too cautious and lived a very hard life.

After Madam An left, it was still early, so Nan Wusi watched Ye Zi teach Hu Zi's mother how to serve tea and water. Hu Zi's mother's every word and action reflected her cautious and careful nature. Although she seemed somewhat timid and hesitant now, she would definitely be a great helper in the future if trained properly.

Tiger's mother was so thin that her face was so pale that it completely obscured her natural beauty. So Nan Wusi was thinking about how to improve Tiger's mother's diet.

When Nan Wusi saw that it was almost time to eat, he said to the two who were still practicing, "Let's go eat."

"Shopkeeper, I'll just eat whatever I want." Tiger's mother said a little embarrassed.

“How can you just eat anything? Look how thin you are, Tiger’s mother. If people come to my shop and see how thin you are, they’ll think I’m abusing my employees.” Nan Wusi shook her head. She was determined to fatten up Tiger’s mother.
