Chapter Fifty-Two: Failure

After signing the contract, Nan Wusi said to Xuan Li, "Please convey my gratitude to His Highness Prince Yi for me."

“Miss Nan, you’re too kind. Our Prince also said that if you need the textile workshop when your shop opens, you can go to Prince Yi’s residence to find him at any time.” Xuan Li put away the contract.

"Okay, I understand." Nan Wusi nodded; she had the same thought.

“Then, Miss Nan, please excuse me for taking my leave.” Xuan Li cupped her hands in a respectful gesture toward Nan Wusi.

"Take care, Guardian Xuan." Nan Wusi also left the shop.

After leaving, Xuan Li immediately returned to Prince Yi's residence to report back to Xiao Yi.

"The shop has already been handed over to her?"

"Yes, Your Highness."

"Did she say anything else?"

"Aside from thanking Your Highness, I didn't say anything else," Xuan Li replied truthfully.

"Alright, go down." A fleeting emotion flashed through Xiao Yi's mind, so fast that even he couldn't grasp it, but one thing was certain: Nan Wusi's politeness towards him was merely superficial.

After taking over the shop, Nan Wusi began to think about how to decorate it. Although she wanted to start immediately, she had no money, so in addition to figuring out how to decorate, she also had to figure out how to make money.

That day, another young lady arrived at the Dream Clothes Shop. She was plain-looking and had a figure that was thin at the top and wide at the bottom. After she stated her requirements, Nan Wusi, as usual, selected suitable styles for her from the shop.

However, on the day of the fitting, the young lady was dissatisfied with both outfits she tried on, and her disappointment was evident on her face.

"Manager Nan, although the clothes you chose are very beautiful and meet my requirements, I don't think they have the effect I wanted when I wear them." The young lady said with a frown. She had always trusted Mengyifang because she had seen the changes in Tangtang that day and had also seen other customers wearing the clothes to attend the banquet. However, she did not expect that this would be the result when it came to her.

Nan Wusi had been frowning the whole time. She could see how the young lady looked in the clothes. The clothes were indeed beautiful, but the effect on her body was not good. It could be said that the clothes were completely unsuitable for the young lady.

"I'm sorry, Miss Lu, the custom-made clothes in our store did not meet your requirements." Nan Wusi could only sincerely apologize now. "If Miss Lu is willing to trust me again, please give me another chance. I will bring out two more sets of clothes for Miss Lu to try on next week."

Lu Ying was initially disappointed and angry, but seeing Nan Wusi's sincere and remorseful expression softened her heart. Since Manager Nan had already made his suggestion, she was willing to give him face again.

"Since Manager Nan is so sincere, I will wait for good news next week. I hope Manager Nan will not disappoint me again." Lu Ying nodded, then changed her clothes and left.

This was the first time Nan Wusi had felt frustrated. She couldn't understand why the clothes she had chosen according to Miss Lu's requirements had such a poor effect after she put them on.

Nan Wusi was in a bad mood all day and felt depressed. Seeing her sullen appearance, Ye Zi and Hu Zi's mother could only worry, but they didn't know how to comfort her, since they didn't really understand either.

Nan Wusi remained dejected for two days and hadn't been to the shop for two days. Seeing Nan Wusi listless and spacing out in the courtyard all day, Jiang Zhirou couldn't bear it any longer and came to Nan Wusi's courtyard as well.

"Wusi, what happened? Why are you so downcast? Tell me so I can give you some advice, okay?" Jiang Zhirou sat down on the soft couch in Nan Wusi's room, looking at her daughter who was slumped over the table with a pained expression.

"Mother, it's nothing." Nan Wusi shook her head; she didn't really want to talk about it.

“You’ve been looking so gloomy all the time, and you’re always staying in your room. If you stay cooped up for a few more days, I’ll have to call the imperial physician to take a look at you. You’ll definitely get sick from being so bored.” Jiang Zhirou looked at Nan Wusi with an air of composure.

"Mom, please stop teasing me."

"Then tell me, what happened?" Jiang Zhirou pressed on while the iron was hot.

"Oh dear, it's just that a customer from Mengyi Workshop was dissatisfied with the clothes I made for her the other day, and I don't quite understand why," Nan Wusi finally said.

"What's so hard to understand? No matter how beautiful your clothes are, there will always be people who don't like them." Jiang Zhirou was also a little surprised when she heard the reason; she thought it was something serious.

“But I clearly made it according to her instructions,” Nan Wusi retorted, which was what she really couldn’t understand.

"Do you know why she's not satisfied?"

"She thinks the clothes don't suit her," Nan Wusi said gruffly, propping his head up with his hand.

"Were you there at the time? What do you think?" Jiang Zhirou continued to ask.

"Of course I'm here, but I also feel that it doesn't really suit her. There's something off about the clothes she wears," Nan Wusi answered honestly.

"What exactly is wrong? Think about it carefully again," Jiang Zhirou coaxed patiently.

"Hmm... I feel the clothes are a bit mismatched, and they don't quite match her temperament." Nan Wusi recalled the scene of trying on the clothes more carefully. The clothes were a bit loose on the upper body, but the lower body looked very tight, which was not aesthetically pleasing at all.

"When you make clothes, do you take into account the customer's temperament and body shape?" Jiang Zhirou said. "You know, everyone's body shape is different, and their temperament is also completely different. Sometimes we can't make clothes entirely according to the customer's ideas, because some people don't actually know what suits them."
