Chapter Forty-Nine: Sending Clothes

Nan Wusi only remembered on the second day that she had originally planned to go see Prince Yi, but she had spent the whole day playing yesterday and had completely forgotten about it. So she decided to try her luck at the Rainbow Pavilion again today.

“Miss Nan, this is really unfortunate. Our boss just came by yesterday, and I'm afraid he won't be coming to Ni Chang Pavilion for the next few days.” The manager of Ni Chang Pavilion naturally recognized who Nan Wusi was.

"Does the shopkeeper know where His Highness Prince Yi usually goes?" Nan Wusi asked, unwilling to give up.

"This humble servant truly does not know. If Miss Nan has urgent business with the Prince, she can go to Prince Yi's residence," the shopkeeper suggested.

"Alright, thank you, Manager Qian." Nan Wusi was also a little helpless. It seemed that his luck wasn't very good, and he had actually missed out.

However, it wasn't quite proper for a young lady like her to go to Prince Yi's mansion to see Xiao Yi. After thinking for a moment, she could only call the little fat boy along again.

"Hey sis, why are you going to see Prince Yi again?" Nan Wushi was utterly resistant when he learned that Nan Wusi was going to take him to see Prince Yi. He still vividly remembered the last time they went to the Ni Chang Pavilion to find Prince Yi.

“He hasn’t finished handling the matter we discussed with him last time, so of course I have to go see him again,” Nan Wusi said matter-of-factly.

“Maybe he’s just teasing you. Why would Prince Yi do something so thankless, just because you owe him a favor?” Nan Wushi believed that Prince Yi didn’t care about Nan Wusi’s matter at all.

“This… seems to make some sense.” Nan Wusi also felt that the little fat boy was right.

"But I won't feel at ease if I don't find out the details. I take this matter very seriously."

"So you're just going to go empty-handed?" Nan Wushi asked again.

"Otherwise what? Do I need to give gifts?"

"Since you want Prince Yi to help you, you should naturally send gifts to show your sincerity." Nan Wushi was surprised that his cousin didn't even understand this.

“But…” Nan Wusi wanted to say that Prince Yi had tricked her out of a jade pendant, but after thinking about it, she didn’t say it.

"What should I give as a gift?"

"I don't know, you should think about it carefully." Nan Wushi shrugged, indicating that he couldn't help.

"Oh right, how about we give him a set of clothes? My Dream Clothing Shop will be selling men's clothing in the future." Nan Wusi suddenly had a flash of inspiration.

“Sister, it’s not appropriate for an unmarried woman like you to give men clothes,” Nan Wushi offered a different opinion.

"Why wouldn't it be suitable? Isn't this what I do? Besides, I was planning to give each of you a piece later." Nan Wu thought that she hadn't had a chance to look at the men's ready-to-wear clothes since the store updated, so this was a good opportunity to take a look.

"That seems to make sense." Nan Wushi felt that it made sense. His sister sold clothes, so giving clothes to others was reasonable.

"Then let's go tomorrow. I'll go home and get ready first," Nan Wusi said.

"Sister, you can make a garment in a day?" Nan Wushi asked, somewhat puzzled. This speed was a bit too fast.

"Of course not, some of them I had already prepared long ago." Nan Wusi was certainly not completely stupid.

"Oh, then I'll come and wake you up early tomorrow morning," Nan Wushi said naturally.

"Okay." After discussing it, Nan Wusi returned to her residence. She still needed to carefully select men's clothing today.

Prince Yi greatly admired light gold robes, so Nan Wusi decided to cater to his tastes. She searched the shop and found a flowing, ethereal outfit, believing it perfectly suited Prince Yi's beautiful face.

This outfit has a white inner lining and a light gold outer robe embroidered with auspicious cloud patterns in gold thread.

Namo thought of Prince Yi wearing this outfit and revealed a lewd smile, thinking that he must be quite a sight to behold.

What a pity, Nan Wusi couldn't help but sigh in his heart. Such a good face was wasted on a playboy.

After taking care of Prince Yi's clothes, she leisurely began selecting clothes to give to her father, her two older brothers, and the little fat boy.

He chose martial arts-style outfits for his cheap father and eldest brother, a light blue slanted-front shirt embroidered with egrets for his second brother, and a Pixiu cloak for the chubby boy, hoping to bring him good fortune.

After selecting clothes for all the people, she hesitated for a moment before choosing a blue Ming-style robe for Xia Ziqian. After all, she had received a painting from Xia Ziqian, and she should reciprocate with a gift. She hadn't had a suitable opportunity or choice before, but this time was perfect; sending it along with the clothes wouldn't seem too abrupt. Besides, Xia Ziqian liked wearing plain blue robes, and Nan Wusi thought this blue one suited him well.

After making the selection, Nan Wusi first delivered her father's robe to his courtyard. Nan Tianba was so excited upon receiving it that he almost cried, and kept smiling. He even showed it off to Jiang Zhirou, saying, "Madam, look, this is a dress our daughter made for me."

"You're such a grown man, yet you're still so immature. Go change and see for yourself, don't waste your daughter's good intentions." Jiang Zhirou looked at Nan Tianba with amusement.

"Yes, yes, I'll go change right away." Nan Tianba immediately took the clothes and went behind the screen, and quickly came out to change.

"Madam, Madam, how is it?" Nan Tianba ran up to Jiang Zhirou and spun around in circles.

"Not bad, he looks quite imposing." Jiang Zhirou covered her mouth and chuckled.

"Hehe, that's natural."

The situation was similar on Nan Wufeng's side, except that it was a bit lonely without anyone showing off. He also received a task to be delivered to Xia Ziqian the next day.

Nan Wufeng patted his chest and assured that the clothes would be delivered to Brother Ziqian unharmed.

The situation on Nan Wuyu's side was even more exaggerated. The usually mature and steady second brother burst into tears after receiving the clothes from Nan Wusi, and hugged Nan Wusi tightly and wouldn't let go.

"Waaah, my little sister has really grown up! She even knows how to sew clothes for her second brother now!" Nan Wuyu exclaimed excitedly, his words tumbling out incoherently.

"Second brother, people grow up eventually." Nan Wusi's lips twitched slightly; she hadn't expected her second brother's reaction to be so strong. This was probably what sibling affection was like—an emotion Nan Wusi, as an only child, had never experienced. Although she couldn't quite understand it, she felt incredibly warm inside.

Her family members in this timeline are all lovely people, so she doesn't want them to suffer any harm. This is why she avoids excessive contact or direct confrontation with the male and female protagonists of the original story. She believes that as long as she doesn't marry the crown prince, the subsequent events won't occur, and her family won't be affected. As for the fates of her family members in the original story, she will try her best to avoid them in her own way. Fortunately, there is still time.
