Chapter 5: Old Friends Reminisce Under the Moon, The Villain Arrives the Next Day

Just as it was about to hit, the dark figure shouted.

"Don't smash it! It's me!"

The clouds and mist dissipated, and moonlight shone down.

It was a very handsome face, with long hair casually tied behind him, giving it a very elegant feel.

Seeing this, Mu Zian forcibly twisted his wrist in mid-air, and the halberd grazed the person in front of him and crashed heavily to the ground.

With a loud crash, the bluestone slab was instantly smashed into pieces, creating a large crater.

Mu Zian put away his halberd and looked at the man in front of him with a playful expression.

"Hey, Li the Great Sword Immortal? Why do you like to break into other people's homes in the middle of the night? Don't you know that according to the laws of Dali, those who trespass on private property are killed but not punished?"

The person before them was none other than Li Jiuxuan, known as the number one swordsman of Dali, and also one of Mu Zian's childhood playmates.

Li Jiuxuan stared at Mu Zian as if he had seen a ghost.

"When did you become so strong?!"

Mu Zian slung the halberd over his shoulder and laughed.

"There are many things you don't know. Hurry up and tell me what brought you here today!"

Li Jiuxuan sat casually on the stone chair in the courtyard and laughed.

"Why can't old friends come over and catch up with you?"

As he spoke, Li Jiuxuan took out a jar of wine and placed it on the table.

"You're in for a treat today with this fine peach blossom wine."

Mu Zian forcefully hammered the halberd, embedding it directly into the bluestone slab.

Li Jiuxuan, standing to the side, was dumbfounded. The bluestone slab seemed to be made of foam in front of Mu Zian.

What immense force is required to achieve this?

If I had actually been hit by that object, I probably would have been meeting my great-grandmother right then and there.

Mu Zian sat opposite Li Jiuxuan and, without any ceremony, picked up the peach blossom wine and drank it in large gulps.

"Catch up? I think you're here specifically to make a fool of yourself."

Li Jiuxuan's expression was somewhat strange, but he quickly snatched the peach blossom wine from Mu Zian's hand and took a big gulp.

"Hmph! If you had known this would happen, you wouldn't have done it in the first place. Back then, you were a martial arts prodigy. If she hadn't dragged you down, you would have made great achievements and become famous on the battlefield by now!"

Mu Zian said with great magnanimity.

"The past is gone, why dwell on it? As the saying goes: Drink today's wine and be merry today, worry about tomorrow tomorrow."

Upon hearing this, Li Jiuxuan was first taken aback, then burst into laughter.

"Everyone says you are ignorant and incompetent, but today it seems you were just hiding your talents! I've been utterly fooled by you!"

Mu Zian smiled.

"There are plenty of fish in the sea, why be hung up on just one? I was narrow-minded before. I have a whole garden, why waste my time on a single weed?"

"Well said, there are plenty of fish in the sea. Since you have such a determination, I am relieved. However, since you have severed ties with Lu Yunxue, let's put an end to the matter of teaching Lu Ming swordsmanship here."

"The two siblings are of the same ilk, one arrogant and the other heartless. If it weren't for your sake, teaching them would be an insult to my swordsmanship."

Lu Ming is Lu Yunxue's older brother and the only son of the Lu family in this generation.

In order to win over Lu Yunxue, Mu Zian begged Li Jiuxuan for three months, almost kneeling before him, before Li Jiuxuan reluctantly agreed to teach him.

Mu Zian took another swig of wine and said nonchalantly.

"You can handle it yourself. From now on, the Lu family's affairs have nothing to do with me."

Li Jiuxuan looked at Mu Zian with some surprise upon hearing this.

"Everyone says you are affectionate, but now I see you are a cold-hearted man."

Mu Zian glanced at Li Jiuxuan speechlessly.

The moonlight was like water, and the cold night was like a knife.

After a long silence, Mu Zian suddenly spoke.

"The Duke of Zhenguo's mansion has been dormant for too long; it's time to bring it back into the light."

Li Jiuxuan, who was drinking, was startled and almost choked on the peach blossom wine.

"You want to reopen the Duke of Zhenguo's mansion?"

"That's right."

"What did His Majesty say?"

"The imperial edict will be issued in the next two days."

Li Jiuxuan laughed heartily upon hearing this.

"Good! Good! Good! It seems that you and I, brothers, will have the opportunity to fight side by side in the future!"

"That feels great! That feels great!"

The two drank for an unknown amount of time, and when Mu Zian woke up the next morning, Li Jiuxuan had already disappeared.

Before Mu Zian could recover from his hangover, there was a loud knocking at the door.

"Open the door! Open the door!"

"Mu Zi'an, stop pretending to be dead! I know you're in there!"

"I'll give you three breaths! If you don't open the door, I'll smash it down, you hear me!"

"three!"

"two!"

The noise coming from outside the door made Mu Zian frown.

He recognized the voice immediately; it belonged to Lu Yunxue's older brother, Lu Ming.

Just as Mu Zian was about to open the door, the wooden gate to the courtyard was kicked down.

The next moment, dozens of men rushed into the courtyard.

The leader was very strong, with a big head and a thick neck, just like a chimpanzee.

However, he was wearing a Confucian scholar's robe and holding a folding fan, which looked very strange. If you didn't know better, you would think he was doing performance art.

Who else could it be but Lu Ming, Lu Yunxue's good older brother?

Mu Zian couldn't help but complain, "What a family of oddballs!"

Upon seeing Mu Zi'an in the courtyard, Lu Ming immediately pointed at Mu Zi'an and began to curse without any hesitation.

"Mu Zian, you despicable, shameless, and vile scoundrel!"

"How dare a heartless scoundrel like you be my brother-in-law!"
