Chapter 25 Life after moving

Wang Yitong sat on the sofa, turned sideways and looked at the bookshelf with only a few books on it, which looked very empty. Then she clicked on the URL to enter Dangdang.com and picked out the books she wanted to buy: "Triple Door", "Who Moved My Cheese", "A Brief History of Time", "Wolf Totem", "Brothers", "A Taste of the Three Kingdoms", "Du Lala's Promotion", "Things about the Ming Dynasty", "Currency War", "Harry Potter", "Details Determine Success or Failure", "National Geographic", "Reader", "Human Resources, Administration and Logistics", "Communication and Art" and other different types of books. Finally, she chose "Be the Best You" by Kai-Fu Lee. She remembered that this book was recommended by Lin Mu, so she decided to buy it and have a look.

When she thought of Lin Mu, her heart began to ache again, but she quickly dismissed the thought, thinking that one must live in the present.

After finishing these tasks, Wang Yitong began to carefully inspect the house. There was a very large balcony outside the living room, which had excellent lighting. The landlord had also sealed the windows and used sliding glass doors as a partition. An idea came to her mind. She immediately took a photo of the balcony and sent it to the landlord, Zhao Yunhao: "Brother Zhao, can I turn this balcony into a garden? I want to put some flower pots and plant some flowers."

A while later, Wang Yitong received a reply: "Add me on QQ. We can communicate via QQ if you have any questions. Great minds think alike. I had originally planned to use that balcony for gardening. There's a faucet and drainage channel right there, and the balcony floor is lower than the living room. Feel free to modify it however you want. Send me a photo when you're done so I can appreciate it."

Wang Yitong immediately had a plan after seeing her landlord Zhao Yunhao's reply. She researched online the precautions for balcony gardening and looked at pictures of popular balcony gardens. After completing her research, she grabbed her phone, wallet, and keys, and headed out with her backpack. She planned to familiarize herself with the surrounding area first.

This residential complex is quite large and pleasant. Wang Yitong secretly planned to get up early and run here when she had time, enjoying the beautiful morning hours. She walked out of the complex and headed towards the mall, her eyes keenly capturing everything around her.

As she walked, she spotted a small, exquisite flower shop. She walked over, inquired about the prices of various flower seedlings, and then asked if the owner could customize flower stands and boxes. The owner smiled and replied that he could.

The two of them soon arrived at her residence, where Wang Yitong discussed the details with her boss. She proposed a plan: three sets of pristine white flower boxes surrounding the balcony, each with a water tray beneath. The left-hand box would be connected to a wooden frame for growing climbing flowers. The other side would feature staggered wooden planks. Two sets of wrought iron flower racks would be placed on the central fence, with hangings suspended from them.

The two further discussed the specific requirements for size, material, etc. After the flower shop owner understood Wang Yitong's needs, he began to carefully measure the size.

The boss carefully calculated the price and told Wang Yitong that three sets of four large flower boxes would cost a total of 2,000 yuan. Hearing this, Wang Yitong readily said, "Boss, I won't bargain with you anymore. I'll give you the tall pink rose and the cute little lemon tree I saw in your store today. You can also fill the flower boxes with nutrient soil for free and plant them with seedlings. I'll buy my plants from you from now on."

The boss calculated secretly in his mind, then smiled and said: "Hey, little sister, we do this to earn a fee, so this time just consider it as making friends. You have to take care of my business with the green plants in the future. I will have it ready for you next week and contact you then." After the matter was settled, the boss left with satisfaction.

Wang Yitong happily saw the florist off, feeling particularly relieved. She stood there, gazing at the empty balcony, as if she could already see the vibrant and colorful scene it would be filled with flowers in the future.

She imagined that in spring, pink roses would bloom, emitting charming fragrance; in summer, lemon trees would bear abundant fruits, adding a fresh breath to the balcony; in autumn, chrysanthemums of various colors would bloom, like a colorful painting; in winter, although it was cold, those cold-resistant flowers would still bloom tenaciously, bringing hope and warmth to people.

She returned to the room, took out her cell phone, and wrote down the details of her communication with the florist today for follow-up.

Afterwards, Wang Yitong decided to walk around the area to see if there were any other interesting places. While walking, she was delighted to find a small park with some fitness equipment and benches.

She thought that she could come here often to take a walk or exercise and enjoy this leisurely time.

After walking around for a while, Wang Yitong found a noodle shop and ordered a small portion of hot and sour noodles. After finishing the meal, he turned around and walked back to his residence.

On the way back, Wang Yitong received a call from her mother: "Tongtong, Xiaohei is dead. He just didn't eat much a while ago, but I bought him some medicine and he got better. But the day before yesterday, he became sick again. When I woke up this morning, he was dead. I carried him to the mountain and buried him this morning..."

She heard her mother crying on the phone, and she hurried to comfort her: "Mom, you're fine. Xiao Hei has been gone for so many years, and this day will come sooner or later. Don't be sad. Now that you don't have to worry about the family anymore, just pack up your things. Go find a job in the city and ask your second aunt to help you find one. She knows a lot of people."

Mom went on to say, "Your cousin from your great aunt's family has already helped find one. She'll be working as a waitress at a hotel in the city, with food and lodging provided. You can also take the bus to visit your father at the mine during your holidays."
