Chapter 160 Old Master Lu
When Lu Fengqing came downstairs, she saw the doctor coming out of Grandpa Lu's room and quickly asked Uncle Chen what was going on.
"The old gentleman didn't rest much yesterday afternoon and didn't sleep well last night. He started having a headache when he woke up this morning," Uncle Chen sighed, feeling very worried.
The old man's health was already poor, and now he's not getting enough rest, so it would be strange if he wasn't feeling unwell.
Lu Fengqing didn't even eat breakfast. She instructed the servants to take breakfast upstairs to Gu Suixing and then hurried to see Old Master Lu.
After the doctor came, he gave Grandpa Lu an injection and prescribed some sleeping pills. Grandpa Lu has now fallen asleep.
The old man looked aged and tired. His spirits, which had only been lifted a few days earlier, had been completely worn away again. The torment of the illness had made him so thin that he was almost nothing but skin and bones.
Lu Fengqing stood by the bed, feeling guilty and heartbroken.
“The old man is overthinking things. Every time the doctor comes to check on him, he advises him to think more positively, but he just won’t listen.” Uncle Chen wiped the moisture from the corner of his eyes. “The doctor who came this morning said before he left that the old man had a bit of energy to keep going, but now that energy is gone.”
Although Grandpa Lu never said it, Uncle Chen could tell that Grandpa Lu didn't really want to live anymore.
Because of health reasons, and also because the person I miss the most is on the other side.
He used to worry about his granddaughter, but now that she's no longer a concern, the effort he had to put on has naturally disappeared.
Otherwise, with the Lu family's wealth, it wouldn't be difficult for the old man to live a few more years.

Gu Suixing was half-lying on Lu Fengqing's bed, flipping through a photo album, when Rui Rui walked in.
Rui Rui climbed onto the bed on her own, snuggled up to Gu Suixing, and peeked over to look at the photo album in Gu Suixing's hand.
Gu Suixing pointed to one of the photos, "This is a picture of my parents when they were little."
In the photo, Gu Suixing and Lu Fengqing are very young, about six years old. Gu Suixing is wearing a little suit, and Lu Fengqing is wearing a beautiful princess dress. The two are sitting side by side on a chair, each holding an ice cream.
Rui Rui's appearance is a combination of the two of them, showing resemblance to both Gu Suixing and Lu Fengqing.
But at first glance, she looks more like Gu Suixing.
Rui Rui was fascinated and stared intently at the photo.
Gu Suixing patted his little head. "Where's your mother?"
Rui Rui said, "Great-grandfather."
Gu Suixing didn't correct his form of address. "What happened to Great-Grandpa?"
Rui Rui didn't know what was wrong with her, but she just said two words: "Doctor".
Gu Suixing immediately understood.
A maid stood at the door with breakfast in her hand. "Sir, Miss asked me to bring you breakfast."
"Put it on the table," Gu Suixing replied, then asked, "What's wrong with the old gentleman?"
"She seems to be feeling unwell; the doctor has already come to see her." The maid wasn't quite sure either, so she didn't dare say more, put down the breakfast, and left.
Gu Suixing was about to get out of bed when she saw Lu Fengqing return.
Lu Fengqing moved a small stool to the bedside and sat down. After a long silence, she said, "The doctor said that Grandpa's health condition is not very good."
Gu Suixing held her hand, recalling what Grandpa Lu had said to him yesterday afternoon.
The old man suffered for half his life because of his daughter's situation and worried about his granddaughter for most of his life. He was somewhat conservative, stubborn, and inflexible in his thinking, but in the end, he probably knew that he could not persuade or stop her, so he chose to compromise.
Yesterday afternoon, Grandpa Lu talked to him a lot, about his life, the Lu family, his grandsons, his granddaughter, and the child Rui Rui.
“Niannian’s marriage to the Tang family was my idea, so don’t blame her. I want her to get married and have children like a normal woman. I told her that as long as she agrees, I will have Fenghe bring Rui Rui back. She is stronger than her mother, stronger than I imagined, and loves that child more than I imagined.”
“Feng and their parents are alive and well, so I’m not worried about them. Niannian has nothing, and the one I’m most worried about is her. But I’m old and can’t stay with her for many more days. I don’t understand the love and relationships of you young people. Regardless of whether you can go the distance, I hope you will try your best not to hurt her.”
“Your father is still unconscious. Just because you can accept it doesn’t mean your mother and grandfather can. Your mother and grandfather have done nothing wrong to you, and I don’t want you to have any conflicts with them because of Niannian. I’ll say it again: unless your father wakes up, I will not agree to your marriage with Niannian.”
“I acknowledge what Niannian and my eldest son Yinghui said: marriage is not a woman’s only destiny. Rather than let Niannian marry into your Gu family, I would rather she remain unmarried for life. I may not be able to do other things, but I can ensure that she will be well-fed and clothed for the rest of her life.”
Gu Suixing sighed inwardly.
After going around in circles, the problem returned to his father.
His grandfather refused to accept Lu Nian because his father refused, and Lu Nian's grandfather refused to let Lu Nian marry him because his grandfather refused to accept Lu Nian.
It seems that simply defeating the dragon is not enough; we also need to address the root cause of its anger.
Rui Rui realized that Grandpa Lu was not in good health and immediately became worried. "Great-Grandpa."
As he spoke, he tried to climb out of bed, seemingly wanting to go downstairs to find someone.
Gu Suixing pressed him down, "Your great-grandfather is resting, don't disturb him."
Rui Rui sat down again, glanced at the sad Sailor Moon, wanted to go over and comfort her, but then felt that she was still angry and couldn't talk to her so easily. Her little brows furrowed in distress.
Gu Suixing let him struggle with the decision and said to Lu Fengqing, "Come with me to see my dad in a couple of days."
Lu Fengqing was stunned.
She hadn't seen Mr. Gu for a very long time.
"Is that alright?" She had heard that Gu Jinhong kept a close watch on his father and didn't easily allow anyone to visit him.
Gu Suixing: "Okay."
I'll bring Rui Rui along then.
On the bright side, his dad might wake up if he sees them.
