Chapter 165 He Didn't Die
Rui Rui lay on Gu Suixing's body, sleeping soundly no matter what Lu Fengqing said, showing no signs of waking up.
A pair of small hands tightly gripped Gu Suixing's clothes, showing a posture of complete trust and attachment.
The little guy only returned to City A at the end of December last year, and now it's late August. Lu Fengqing has been with the little guy on and off for eight months. The little guy also likes her, his "aunt," and always says that he likes "aunt" the most, but in reality, he has never said that to her.
The scoundrel returned to China at the end of April and didn't see Rui Rui until the end of June. They spent less than a week together before parting ways, and only met again a few days ago. In such a short time, Rui Rui has developed such a deep dependence on her father. Lu Fengqing felt both bitter and heartbroken.
Suppressing her sadness, Lu Fengqing met Gu Suixing's gaze and said earnestly, "If you don't come back, I really don't want him anymore."
She's not a good mother. She's always worried about this and that, and she easily compromises on various issues. She's useless.
If Gu Suixing hadn't returned, or if Gu Suixing had changed her mind, and if she had fallen for Lu Yuhan's scheme and ruined her reputation on Tang Xingzhou's birthday night, she would have been even less likely to acknowledge Rui Rui. She wouldn't let him have such an unclean mother, or let him spend his whole life being pointed at and gossiped about.
Without Gu Suixing, Lu Yuhan and Tang Xingzhou wouldn't have ended up together and wouldn't have been caught in the act. As for her, if she were lucky enough that Gu Suixing didn't interfere and she didn't fall for Lu Yuhan's schemes, and everything went smoothly, then she would eventually marry Tang Xingzhou, and she would never have the chance to reunite with Rui Rui.
After making that phone call to her older brother, he probably softened and started trying to take Rui Rui to and from school whenever possible, and occasionally he would find an opportunity to bring Rui Rui to her side.
But by then she had already given up hope.
Looking at Rui Rui's sleeping face, Lu Fengqing said in a hoarse voice, "I feel like I've been making choices all these years: whether to give birth to Rui Rui, whether to be filial or to fulfill the responsibilities of a mother, whether to bring Rui Rui back, whether to let him go back to his great-aunt's side or to force him to stay and watch him all by himself."
Sometimes I feel like I haven't done anything wrong, and other times I feel like I've been wrong all along.
Many times she couldn't help but wonder what would have happened if she had made a different choice in these multiple-choice questions.
If she hadn't insisted on giving birth to Rui Rui, would all those subsequent events have been avoided?
If she hadn't chosen to be filial and had firmly shouldered the responsibilities of being a mother, what would have happened to her grandparents? Would her seriously ill grandmother have been driven to her death by her behavior?
If she hadn't had her older brother bring Rui Rui back, would Rui Rui have been better off living with his great-aunt?
If she doesn't let go and leaves Rui Rui in City A, watching him grow up alone, when he learns the truth, will he understand his mother or hate her even more?
After making these assumptions, she discovered that the situation was no better than it is now.
She had absolutely no idea how to do it better.
Gu Suixing remained silent, then turned his head and kissed her hair.
If he were in his shoes, he wouldn't choose to have this child.
But he will never say those words.
Anyone can disagree with her choice, but he cannot.
As if sensing something, Rui Rui, who was nestled in Gu Suixing's arms, suddenly opened her eyes and reached out to touch Lu Fengqing's face.
Lu Fengqing was stunned.
Before she could speak, Rui Rui closed her eyes again and fell into a deep sleep.
Lu Fengqing looked at him for a moment, blinked her sore eyes, leaned over, and gently kissed his cheek.
A man's voice came from above: "What about me?"
Lu Fengqing had no choice but to lean in and kiss his cheek.
Unexpectedly, the man turned his head and the kiss landed on his lips.
Their eyes met.
Lu Fengqing did not back away, but instead kissed him.
-
Before I knew it, it was time for my follow-up appointment.
When Rui Rui learned that Gu Suixing was going out, she grabbed his clothes tightly and said, "Together."
I hadn't planned on keeping him anyway. Gu Suixing said, "Okay, but you have to be obedient."
Rui Rui nodded, "I'll be good."
Lu Fengqing came out of Old Master Lu's room and asked gently, "Shall we set off now?"
"Let's go." Gu Suixing put his hands under Rui Rui's armpits, lifted him up with a little force, placed him on his lap, and drove the electric wheelchair out the door.
The wheelchair still had to be brought along, so Lu Fengqing folded it up, carried it, and put it in the trunk.
Gu Suixing looked away and took out her phone from her pocket.
The call was from Huo Huai'an.
Huo Huai'an's voice sounded excited, "Sui Xing, good news!"
Gu Suixing asked slowly, "You're no longer single?"
"?" Huo Huai'an was stunned for two seconds. "It's still a long way off."
"Never mind that. I called to tell you that the driver has woken up! Do you want to come over?"
Gu Suixing raised an eyebrow. "I was just about to go to the hospital for a follow-up check-up."
Huo Huai'an: "Okay. I'll wait for you at the hospital."
Once in the car, Lu Fengqing casually asked, "Is something the matter?"
"It's nothing," Gu Suixing said. "It was Huai'an who called."
Upon hearing that it was Huo Huai'an, Lu Fengqing asked, "What's wrong?"
Gu Suixing didn't hide it from her, "The driver of that SUV woke up."
-
The Tang family.
Tang Xingchen was sitting on the edge of the bed, talking to Old Master Tang, when there was a sudden knock on the door.
"Enter."
The maid pushed the door open and came in. "Sir, Miss Fifth has arrived."
Grandpa Tang: "Let her in."
Before Old Master Tang could speak, Tang Xingchen stood up, concealing the strange look in his eyes, and said, "I'll go back to my room first."
Grandpa Tang nodded.
Tang Ya didn't look at Tang Xingchen, but went straight to the spot where Tang Xingchen had been sitting and sat down.
Grandpa Tang looked quietly at his youngest daughter.
The room was quiet, with only the sound of medical equipment operating.
Once the door closed again and there was no one else in the ward, Tang Ya suddenly said, "Dad, I might not be able to see you off."
Grandpa Tang frowned.
Tang Ya continued, "This time I wasn't as lucky as last time. I bought that person's life, but he didn't die; I heard he even woke up."
