Chapter 218 Arson

Chapter 218 Arson

Flames flickered in the corridor, and screams and shouts echoed through the thick, acrid smoke.

Gu Suixing was about to go find his mother and son when he saw Huo Yao running towards him with Rui Rui in her arms.

"Follow the stars!"

Huo Yao was still wearing her pajamas, her long hair disheveled, and Rui Rui was held tightly in her arms.

Gu Suixing looked at Huo Yao, then at Rui Rui in Huo Yao's arms, and made a decision immediately. She said very quickly, "Mom, you take him out first, I'll go find Dad."

After saying that, he turned and ran away before Huo Yao could speak.

"Fourth Young Master!" Several bodyguards who were assigned to guard the sanatorium rushed up.

Huo Yao grabbed one of the bodyguards and asked sternly, "Did you call the fire department?"

The bodyguard who was caught said, "I hit him. But it's a bit far, so it won't be quick."

Another bodyguard added, "Everyone else in the sanatorium has already been evacuated inside. Please come with us."

Without saying a word, the two bodyguards dragged Huo Yao downstairs.

Using the flickering firelight to see where he was going, Gu Suixing ran all the way to Gu Zhenjun's hospital room.

The door to the ward was locked.

Gu Suixing gritted his teeth and rammed the door several times before finally managing to open it.

The entire building's electrical circuits have been destroyed, and the equipment in the wards has stopped working. However, the situation is still relatively good, and the fire has not yet reached a critical stage.

But if they stayed any longer, they would either be burned to death or suffocated by the smoke.

Gu Suixing rushed into the bathroom, grabbed a towel haphazardly, wet it, and ran back to the bedside. In a few quick movements, he removed the medical equipment from Gu Zhenjun's body, wrapped the towel around Gu Zhenjun's face, turned around, bent down, and lifted Gu Zhenjun onto his back.

A dull ache came from my leg, which wasn't fully healed yet.

Gu Suixing seemed oblivious, quickly carrying Gu Zhenjun away.

"Fourth Young Master!" Two bodyguards quickly followed.

The bodyguard tried to take Gu Zhenjun from Gu Suixing's back, but Gu Suixing dodged to the side and hissed, "Hurry up."

The two bodyguards had no choice but to give up. One of them cleared the way by kicking away the obstacles, while the other stood behind to protect them, ready to shield them from anything that might fall from the ceiling.

The entire villa was engulfed in flames.

Everyone gathered in the courtyard; some looked around nervously, while others whispered among themselves.

The two bodyguards who had escorted Huo Yao and Rui Rui down earlier, along with their colleagues, were instructed by Huo Yao to surround everyone in the courtyard and prevent anyone from leaving.

"Daddy, Daddy," Rui Rui called out, her eyes brimming with tears.

Huo Yao held him tightly, not letting him get down, her eyes fixed on the villa gate.

Huo Yao breathed a sigh of relief when she finally saw her son rush out of the flames.

The clothes worn by the bodyguard and Gu Zhenjun caught fire.

The two bodyguards, in particular, were practically burned to a crisp.

The old man in charge of sanitation at the nursing home pointed in a certain direction and shouted, "There's a water tap over there!"

Two bodyguards quickly led Gu Suixing and Gu Zhenjun over.

The water was poured over them, and soon the fire on their bodies was finally extinguished.

"Are you alright?" Huo Yao carried Rui Rui and ran over, her eyes scanning her son and husband.

"It's nothing." Gu Suixing temporarily put Gu Zhenjun down on the open ground, shook his aching leg, and looked at the two bodyguards who were escorting him downstairs. "Are you injured?"

Which bodyguard isn't dedicated to serving their employer? The two bodyguards were surprised that their employer cared about them. They exchanged a glance and chuckled, "It's just a minor injury, nothing serious."

Gu Suixing asked again, "Did you call an ambulance?"

Huo Yao: "We called. The fire department, ambulance, and police are all on their way."

Gu Suixing hummed in agreement, glanced back at the villa where the fire was growing larger, then looked at the hospital staff surrounded by bodyguards in the yard, and asked in a deep voice, "What's going on?"

The two bodyguards lowered their heads in shame.

“We discovered the fire shortly after we finished our shift. We wanted to rush to put it out, but the iron gates to the first-floor corridor and the stairwell were locked.”

"The warehouse was the worst affected, as it contained a lot of flammable materials. By the time we managed to unlock it and run inside, the fire had already spread."

Gu Jinhong had been hiding himself very well. No one could contact him except Gu Jinhong himself, and no one knew the exact location of the sanatorium. Even the people working at the sanatorium did not know.

Sometimes, keeping things completely secret is a form of protection.

Since Gu Jinhong relented and allowed Gu Suixing to come over, the address of the sanatorium is no longer a secret.

After Huo Yao came to personally take care of Gu Zhenjun, the bodyguards were no longer stationed in the villa. Instead, they were assigned to guard the various entrances and exits of the sanatorium, and the restrictions on communication between the sanatorium and the outside world were no longer as strict as before.

The bodyguards did not receive the order to patrol, and the fire in the warehouse spread too quickly to be detected immediately.

Gu Suixing narrowed his eyes.

Knowing to burn the warehouse first and lock the iron gate clearly indicates that it was premeditated.

And only people inside the sanatorium can do such a thing.

It's unclear whether the other party's target is his father, him, or both.

Gu Suixing: "Have you notified the old man?"

The bodyguard nodded with a wry smile. "The notification has been given."

With something this serious happening, how could they dare to hide it? Even if they wanted to, they couldn't.

Firefighters, ambulances, and police arrived one after another.

The usually quiet sanatorium was suddenly bustling with activity.

Gu Jinhong arrived in a rage, his gaze sweeping over all the bodyguards and staff present. "What's going on?!"

Everyone looked at each other, and no one said a word.

In the end, the lead bodyguard reluctantly stepped forward to report the situation.

After watching the medical staff lift Gu Zhenjun into the ambulance, Gu Suixing nudged Huo Yao and Rui Rui.

"Daddy!" Rui Rui grabbed Gu Suixing's clothes and wouldn't let go.

Gu Suixing patted his little shoulder, "Be a good boy and stay with Grandma, Daddy has something to do."

Rui Rui pouted, not too happy, but still obediently let go.

Gu Suixing looked at him and said, "You are a little man, you should take good care of your grandpa and grandma."

Rui Rui perked up, clenching her little fists, "Okay!"

Huo Yao glanced at Gu Suixing, then at Gu Jinhong who was raging not far away, and said nothing. She carried Rui Rui into the ambulance.

Gu Suixing watched the ambulance leave, then turned and walked towards Gu Jinhong.

When Gu Jinhong saw Gu Suixing, his anger subsided somewhat. He looked him up and down and asked, "Are you injured?"

Gu Suixing: "No."

Apart from Gu Zhenjun, Huo Yao, and Rui Rui, who left in the ambulance, everyone else stayed behind. Including Gu Suixing, they were all to be investigated.

Before we knew it, the sky was turning white.

The investigation lasted all night, but no results were reached.

Gu Suixing couldn't wait any longer, so she called Huo Huai'an and asked him to have someone keep an eye on things. Then she left the police station and went to the hospital first.

As soon as he entered the ward, the little dumpling rushed towards him.

The little one hugged his leg, tilted his head up, and looked at him expectantly, "Daddy."

Just as Gu Suixing was about to speak, Huo Yao seemed to have just come to her senses and suddenly ran over to grab his wrist.

"Sui Xing." Huo Yao's face was a mixture of helplessness and joy. "Your father moved. I was wiping his body just now, and I saw him move his hand!"
