Chapter 121 Other Men
Lu Fengqing was taken aback, not expecting that her mother actually had six fingers.
She was very young when her mother passed away, and she has long forgotten her memories of her mother. No one has ever told her these things.
Lu Fengqing subconsciously looked down at her hands, and after processing the information, asked in a low voice, "Has it always been like this?"
"No, not at all." Gu Suixing reached out and squeezed her hand. "I had surgery to remove it before coming to City A."
Mrs. Lu was from City S. Initially, the whole family lived in City S. Later, as Mr. Lu's company grew larger, the company headquarters was moved back to City A. The three children stayed in City S because they were still studying. It wasn't until the two youngest sons finished high school and went to university in City A that the three children returned to live with their parents.
Lu Yunsi had her finger surgery done before she came back.
The person who accompanied Lu Yunsi to that surgery was Old Madam Gu.
Madam Gu and Madam Lu were college classmates and had always had a good relationship. Gu Jinhong was far too philandering, and even though Madam Gu was very tolerant, there were times when she couldn't stand it anymore. When Madam Lu wasn't with her husband in City A, Madam Gu would often bring her two children to visit her, sometimes staying for several days at a time.
Before Lu Yunsi returned to City A, the Lu family couple were so busy that they couldn't spare the time. At the request of Old Madam Lu, Old Madam Gu made a special trip to City S to accompany Lu Yunsi for the surgery.
In truth, the two old ladies were best friends for life. Not long after Old Madam Lu passed away, Old Madam Gu followed her. They were close in life, and they will probably remain best friends in the afterlife as well.
Lu Fengqing responded with an "oh".
If this is the reason for feelings of inferiority and social anxiety, then it's understandable.
Gu Suixing suddenly smiled and said, "Look how happy your mother-in-law is. Maybe it was your father who took the picture of her."
Lu Fengqing was stunned.
Lu Yunsi looks very young in the photo, with a smile in her eyes, and she does look like a woman in love.
Father……
Lu Fengqing had never thought of this word.
From the time she could remember, her mother was a blur, and her father never existed.
Gu Suixing smiled and said, "If we can find the person who sent the package, we might be able to find out who your father is."
Lu Fengqing was not happy, and didn't even want to know who her father was.
It no longer matters to her who the person who has never appeared in her life for more than twenty years is.
Gu Suixing had been watching Lu Fengqing's expression closely. Seeing her like this, he became thoughtful. "What, aren't you curious?"
Lu Fengqing: "Not curious."
"Knowing who he is doesn't mean you should acknowledge him," Gu Suixing said. "Don't you want to see the person your mother-in-law remembered until her death?"
Lu Fengqing pouted, "I don't even care about my own mother, why would I care about him?"
One left her during her formative years, and the other never appeared. More than twenty years was enough to dilute this blood ties.
Gu Suixing did not force her.
However, if this matter hadn't shown any signs of arousal, then so be it; now he must get to the bottom of it.
Lu Fengqing didn't want to continue the topic and brought up another matter, "Zhang Qin's nephew is having his full-month celebration in a couple of days, and I have to go."
Gu Suixing: "Who?"
"Stop pretending!" Lu Fengqing grabbed a cushion and threw it at him. "Your blind date!"
Gu Suixing laughed and dodged, just about to put down his knitting needles and yarn and lean over to hug her, when Lu Fengqing stopped him.
"Keep knitting well; it must be finished by the end of the month."
"The end of the month?" Gu Suixing glanced at the scarf, which was only about an inch wide, and, remembering that her birthday was at the end of August, asked, "A birthday present?"
Lu Fengqing: "It's not yours."
Gu Suixing raised an eyebrow. "Whose is that?"
"It's for Rui Rui." Lu Fengqing counted carefully. "Rui Rui's birthday is in November. I'll finish knitting the scarf by the end of this month, crochet two little gloves next month, and a little hat the month after that, so we can have a complete set."
Gu Suixing frowned. "You're going to knit something by hand and give it to another man?"
“…” Lu Fengqing corrected him, “It’s a boy. A little boy.”
Gu Suixing: "No."
Lu Fengqing said in a calm tone, "My elder brother asked me to take you to the Lu residence when I have some free time."
Gu Suixing realized something, and her brows relaxed. "Okay."
Lu Fengqing scoffed.
Gu Suixing added, "It doesn't matter what kids use; there's no difference between what's bought and what's knitted by hand. Knitting a scarf is enough; just buy gloves and hats."
Lu Fengqing pretended not to hear, picked up the knitting needles again, and told Gu Suixing to go about his own business.
Gu Suixing did have a lot of things to do, so he didn't bother her anymore and went to get his laptop to work.
When Gu Suixing finished her work and looked up, Lu Fengqing had already fallen asleep on the sofa.
Gu Suixing closed his laptop, leaned over and took the knitting needles and yarn from her arms, then lifted her up like a child.
"What time is it?" Lu Fengqing asked, mumbling as he woke her up.
Gu Suixing didn't answer, but only asked, "You like children that much?"
Lu Fengqing wrapped her arms around his neck and mumbled a sleepy "Mmm," "I like it."
How could I not like something that came from my own belly?
"Have one."
"I will not give birth."
She only needs Rui Rui.
Gu Suixing assumed that she didn't want to have children because she was afraid of pain and losing her figure, so she didn't say anything more.
The child is actually dispensable to him. She can have one if she wants, and he can raise and pamper her. If she doesn't want one, they can have one. It's good enough for the two of them to live a life together as a couple.
As for whether his business would have no successor... Gu Suixing never worried about this problem. He had many cousins, from the Xie family and the Huo family. He would give the business to whoever's child was successful, or give it to one of his brothers or sisters. It would never just rot away and be ignored.
He sought wealth simply to avoid being exploited by others, to ensure her well-being, and to live a peaceful life with her. These material possessions were unimportant to him.
Before going to bed, Lu Fengqing suddenly said, "If you can appease my grandfather and then propose properly, I'll marry you."
Gu Suixing was stunned for a moment, then smiled and leaned down to kiss her forehead.
"It's a deal."
