Chapter 258 The Adult's Way
Just as Teacher Wu was about to speak, Jiang Youhui and Dada's mother arrived.
"What's going on?" A short-haired woman and an old woman walked up to Jiang Youhui.
When the old woman saw the injury on her grandson's face, she immediately felt heartbroken. "Who did it? Who hit my little grandson?"
Jiang Youhui pointed at Dada, "He hit him."
Cai Ying asked, "What happened?"
Dada also pointed to Jiang Youhui, saying, "He started this trouble first."
Teacher Wu dared not hide anything and told the whole story.
The old woman's eyes widened. "You beat my grandson just because of some piece of junk?"
“Jiang Youhui started it. He tried to take Lu Chenrui’s things, and Lu Chenrui pushed him away because he didn’t want to give them to him,” Dada corrected. “Jiang Youhui felt ashamed and hit Lu Chenrui. Lu Chenrui was weak and couldn’t beat Jiang Youhui. If I hadn’t helped Lu Chenrui beat him up, Lu Chenrui would be dead.”
The short-haired woman and the old woman's expressions changed simultaneously.
The short-haired woman snapped, "What nonsense are you spouting!"
“Exactly,” the old woman agreed. “It’s just kids fighting, nothing serious. But you dared to hit my grandson, this isn’t over yet.”
With Miss Lu around, Cai Ying didn't think she would suffer any losses in this turmoil. With her hands on her hips, she said, "If it's not over yet, then it's not over yet!"
Lu Fengqing slowly stood up and chuckled softly, "You're right. This isn't over yet. How do you want to compensate me?"
The short-haired woman looked at Lu Fengqing, her expression changing slightly.
"I'll pay for it. How much is a little broken thing worth?" The old woman said dismissively. "These two boys hit my grandson. They have to apologize to him."
“Okay.” Lu Fengqing nodded. “Rui Rui and Dada can apologize to this student, but since this student started by grabbing the item, he must also apologize to Rui Rui.”
The short-haired woman secretly breathed a sigh of relief upon hearing this.
If they're willing to reconcile, that makes things easier. It's just an apology...
Unexpectedly, the old woman frowned and said, "We've already lost money, why are you apologizing?"
Lu Fengqing narrowed her eyes slightly, "Is it the same thing to pay for the things your grandson broke, or to apologize for your grandson trying to take things?"
The old woman was speechless.
The atmosphere became somewhat tense for a moment.
Teacher Wu quickly stepped in to smooth things over: "Both sides are at fault, this is how it should be done."
Lu Fengqing raised her chin. "Let the troublemaker come first."
The short-haired woman glanced at Lu Fengqing, let out a soft sigh, and nudged her son. "Apologize!"
“Why should I apologize? I’m not apologizing,” Jiang Youhui shouted.
A boy this age already has self-esteem and cares about his reputation, let alone someone like Jiang Youhui who has been spoiled since childhood. For Jiang Youhui, making him apologize is no different from killing him.
Jiang Youhui started making a scene in the office.
The old woman felt sorry for him and quickly coaxed him, "No need to apologize, no need to apologize, our Youhui won't apologize."
Cai Ying immediately said, "Since this kid won't apologize, then we won't apologize either."
Lu Fengqing didn't speak.
She didn't want Rui Rui to apologize either.
What's the point of an apology? She doesn't need that kid's half-hearted apology.
In her opinion, beating the person who broke her son's things was letting them off easy; it's just that Rui Rui is still young, and she can't teach her child like that.
The short-haired woman looked at Lu Fengqing and said, "Miss Lu, we are willing to compensate you for the price of the little ornament that your son broke."
Seeing that the other party had gotten her into a good mood and was trying to settle things peacefully, Lu Fengqing knew that the other party did not intend to provoke her.
She hit her son and refuses to apologize or pay compensation? Dream on!
Lu Fengqing said calmly, "This little thing was a gift from the child's maternal grandfather. I need to ask about it first."
The short-haired woman's expression darkened further as she recalled what she had heard recently.
Rumors are circulating that Miss Lu is the daughter of the third son of the Xie family, and that the child's maternal grandfather is... Xie Chaoyin.
It was her son who started the trouble by grabbing things first. Neither the Lu family nor the Gu family are people they can afford to offend. She should be grateful that Miss Lu didn't use her power to intimidate them. Now that Miss Lu has brought up Xie Chaoyin again, the short-haired woman has a very bad feeling.
Lu Fengqing spoke slowly: "Since your son is unwilling to apologize, and neither of you are willing to resolve this issue in a childish way, then we will have to resolve it in an adult way."
The short-haired woman sensed the threat in Lu Fengqing's words, her expression changed drastically, and disregarding her mother-in-law, she forcefully pulled her son over and shouted with a stern face, "Apologize!"
Jiang Youhui was stunned for two seconds by the shout, then burst into tears and sat down on the ground, kicking his feet incessantly.
The old woman glared at her daughter-in-law, "Why are you yelling at Xiaohui!"
The short-haired woman smiled bitterly to herself. She was heartbroken for her son, but she didn't know how to tell her mother-in-law that her precious grandson had offended no ordinary person—Gu Suixing's son and Xie Chaoyin's grandson. The best course of action was to back down obediently, or their family would be in deep trouble.
The old woman looked at Lu Fengqing and Cai Ying with disdain, "What a piece of junk. My son has plenty of money. He can pay you back."
Short-haired woman: "Mom, please stop talking."
The old woman ignored her and continued her rant: "They're all dressed like vixens, they're obviously no good. Like mother, like daughter, a family of worthless sluts..."
Teacher Wu couldn't help but frown. It seems there's a difference between fake and real wealthy families. Look at Rui Rui's mother, and then look at Jiang Youhui's grandmother... utterly vulgar, what kind of common shrew is she!
Cai Ying rolled her eyes on the spot. This kind of old woman, who was obviously cerebellar, argued for the sake of arguing. She was shrewish and unreasonable and had no manners at all. They would not gain any advantage by arguing with her. As long as they did not insult the children, they could do whatever they wanted with this old woman.
Lu Fengqing's thoughts were similar to Cai Ying's; she didn't intend to argue with the old woman, but simply reached out and covered Rui Rui's ears.
Rui Rui opened her eyes wide, looking completely bewildered.
Dada was furious, hands on her hips: "Who are you calling a damn old hag!"
The old woman pointed at Dada with trembling hands, "You bastard..."
"Mom, shut up!" The short-haired woman interrupted the old woman, turned to her son and shouted, "Even if you cry yourself to death here today, you still have to apologize to your classmate."
Jiang Youhui cried even louder.
"Xiao Hui...you bitch!" The old woman lunged at the short-haired woman, hitting her hard. "Xiao Hui is your own son, don't you have a heart?!"
Jiang Youhui seemed surprised that his grandmother would hit his mother. He was stunned for a moment, then got up, ran over, and pushed the old woman away forcefully, shouting, "Don't hit my mother!"
The office became noisy again.
The cries of children and the curses of the elderly mingled together.
