The four of them rode their horses along the forest path.
The road here is rugged, and all you can see are snow-capped pine trees. The horses' movements are somewhat restricted, but it is still much faster than walking.
After riding all the way to the afternoon, Reiner saw that everyone was a little tired, so he asked them to rest for a night and prepare to continue their journey the next day.
"This forest feels really safe. We've been walking for a whole day and haven't seen a single monster, not even a single bandit." Martina leaned against a tree and stretched slightly.
"Maybe it's because there are elves maintaining order. This is a trivial matter." Reiner put the Red Dragon Breath on the ground, and the Fire Demon Stone on the top of the staff immediately ignited a raging fire.
Daisy picked up a few branches, washed them with water, and put them in front of the fire to toast the frozen white bread.
The four of them prepared to rest after dinner.
Suddenly, Martina looked back at the pine tree behind her, and then punched it.
"There are bugs?" Reiner asked doubtfully.
"No, dear, come and see what this is."
Reiner stood up and glanced at her.
I discovered that this pine tree actually had a human face.
Martina had hit its nose crooked.
At first Reiner thought it was a face carved on a tree by some bored person, but then the corner of its mouth twitched.
Martina drew the greatsword behind her and raised her hand to strike: "Monster, give me your life!"
"Wait." Reiner pulled her back.
The tree hummed, then muttered in Elvish: "Who is it? Not only did you wake me up, but you even hit me... Ouch..."
Reiner patted Martina's butt and then said, "This should be a tree demon, not a monster."
Martina took a closer look and muttered, "Really? I feel like she's a monster."
Reiner walked over and straightened the old tree demon's wooden nose. "Sorry, this is the first time we've met a tree demon. She was a little excited. Let me fix your nose."
After that, Reiner used hydrotherapy to heal its nose, although he didn't know whether it would be useful.
"Wow, the last time I saw a human who could speak Elvish was about two years ago. It's really rare." The old tree demon laughed and continued, "You don't need to treat me. This nose will grow back after a while."
"Oh." Reiner took a few steps back and looked at the dryad carefully.
Apart from the big face on the trunk, this thing is no different from an ordinary pine tree.
Just plant it in the soil and it won't move.
Just as Reiner was lost in thought, the tree demon spoke again: "I have slept for too long. It's time to get up and move around..."
Then, the surrounding ground began to shake slightly.
The tree demon pulled its two legs out of the soil with great effort. The crooked legs were covered with dense tree roots.
He was so huge that the ground trembled slightly every time he moved.
And Reiner just watched him silently from the side.
This was probably Nora's first time seeing a tree demon.
Seeing this walking pine tree, his eyes widened.
After waiting for a while, the tree demon returned to the pit and dug its legs into the soil again. Then it sighed, "The snow this year is really heavy..."
Reiner answered smoothly, "Yes, there was only a thin layer of snow last year, and it wasn't as cold as last year."
