Chapter 45: Nora Corrupted by Darkness (1/2)

Junice walked over to her and praised her softly, "Martina, you're amazing! You knocked the spider away in one go."

Martina seemed to enjoy being praised, her tone revealing a hint of joy: "Well, this thing is so light and fluttery, it flew away with just one hit..."

As they were bragging about their business, Reiner walked over to Nora, touched her cat ears and said soothingly: "Are you feeling unwell?"

Nora looked back at Reiner and quickly stood up: "I'm fine."

Her words may deceive people, but her heart cannot.

(I feel... dizzy and breathless, like something is strangling me... What's wrong with me?)

Reiner quickly called out, "Junis, what's wrong with Nora? She's feeling unwell."

She said that the ruins would erode people's sanity.

Nora's condition has been off ever since she came in, probably due to the influence of the ruins.

Junice walked over quickly, reached out and touched her forehead, and asked gently, "What's wrong? Where do you feel uncomfortable?"

(I don’t want to become a burden to my master…)

"No discomfort."

Seeing this, Reiner spoke for her, "She's dizzy and can't breathe."

Nora blinked in confusion and asked in unison with Junice, "How do you know?"

Reiner said nonsense seriously: "Nora is my woman, we have a tacit understanding, guess."

As soon as these words came out, Norah's face turned a little red.

Junice touched her chin, her expression somewhat meaningful.

She seemed to have a different opinion of Reiner.

"Is that so Nora?"

"Well... I am the master's woman, I am willing."

Junice immediately concluded, "It seems her thinking is indeed a bit confused. I asked her if the symptoms matched, but she replied with something else."

Nora hesitated for a moment and then nodded.

"It has been eroded by the ruins, but it's only mild. Apart from some physical discomfort, it won't cause any other effects."

Reiner breathed a sigh of relief.

After a moment of silence, he asked, "What does it look like to be seriously ill?"

"He'll have hallucinations and eventually go crazy." Junice looked at Nora, carefully examining her, and then continued, "But the probability of this happening isn't high. He'll only have a mental breakdown if the team is in danger.

But this possibility is not very high. With Martina here, basically no monster can harm us."

Reiner patted Nora's shoulder and said softly, "Rest here for a while and relax."

"Uh-huh."

Reiner looked at Martina beside him.

She was squatting beside the corpse of the demon spider and observing it carefully. This guy's mental strength was much stronger than Nora's.

At least from just now until now, I haven't seen her expression change.

Junice walked over to the demon spider, carefully poked it with her staff, and after making sure it was dead, she smashed its fangs with a dagger.

"You can also take this to the Adventurer's Guild to exchange for money. One fang can be exchanged for ten copper coins."

Rounding it off, one demon spider can earn you about one silver coin.

Eighteen of them are roughly equivalent to one gold coin.

If you can keep killing like this, the income will be quite considerable.

But the most urgent task is to find the old farmer's son.

"Junis, how much does a magic book usually cost?"

"Prices vary depending on the attributes. Awakening fire magic is more common, so books with that attribute are more expensive. Awakening lightning magic is relatively rare, so books with that attribute are slightly cheaper."
