Chapter 131: Exchange and Exchange
The video appeared on the big screen via computer screen mirroring.
It was a clip that stayed on the trending topics list for a long time.
Under the flashing lights of numerous news media outlets, Xu Yihuan remained calm and composed, translating clearly for Jiang.
There wasn't even another substitute around her.
She had no way out.
"You've all probably seen this clip trending on social media, right?"
"This was sent to me by one of my classmates at Huaqing University. According to him, the name Xu Yihuan has already spread throughout the foreign language department at Huaqing University."
"If you can also make your names known throughout the Huaqing Foreign Languages Department, I can allow you to join the Foreign Languages Association without an interview."
"Of course, no matter what events happen later, I can reserve a spot for you."
The minister's words were cold, but they all knew that he was simply stating a fact.
The truth is, they don't have Xu Yihuan's abilities.
The people looked at each other in silence.
Upon hearing these words, Pei Yutang took a deep breath, her eyes flashing with jealousy and resentment.
It's clear that Xu Yihuan became famous because she had a good opportunity.
If she were in her shoes, she might not necessarily do any worse than her.
The minister looked intently at Pei Yutang: "Do you have any other questions?"
"If you have the same ability, I can reserve a place for you. If not, you can still compete fairly with other students."
The minister pointed at me like that.
Pei Yutang bit her lip, her face embarrassed but full of stubbornness.
But she still said, "No, that's all."
She actually knew about this event.
Pei Yuli went back into the lab a couple of days ago to start a closed-door experiment.
But he had mentioned it to himself before he went in.
It is said that CAM University in Country E will send several professors to Kyoto University for exchange and study during New Year's Day.
It seems that most of them were professors of sociology and psychology.
The reason for choosing New Year's Day is to experience the atmosphere of a traditional Chinese festival.
The school has students doing simultaneous interpreting for two reasons: first, to showcase the talent of Kyoto University students; and second, if a professor takes a liking to a student, they will offer them an exchange opportunity. Fortunately, the exchange opportunities between CAM and Kyoto University this year have not yet been finalized.
The school attaches great importance to this matter. Almost every department has a task, and even the decorations on campus have to be designed to create a New Year's atmosphere.
This was something Pei Yuli complained about back then because he found it troublesome.
She saw the opportunity immediately, but she didn't expect that the translators would be selected from the foreign language association instead of from the foreign language department students.
The minister glanced around and said:
"Alright, since everyone has no questions, let's end the meeting here for today."
"Remember to come for training on Wednesday."
"This activity offers a lot of bonus points, 15 points per day, and it will take about three days. If you're interested in the activity, please come find me before Thursday."
"We will conduct an interview on Friday to select suitable candidates."
"As for the specifics, I'll bring them up later. But don't blame me for not reminding you, this is indeed a very good opportunity."
Some students who were initially eager to try out the program after hearing about the higher score requirements backed down when they learned that an interview was also required.
But that didn't stop the whole class from making a ruckus.
Seeing that the scene was getting more and more lively, the minister coughed twice and said, "Meeting adjourned."
"Xu Yihuan, stay behind for a moment."
Upon hearing this, everyone stopped discussing and dispersed.
It's only a little before 6:40, so I've already skipped almost an hour of evening self-study time.
I'm so happy!
Tan Zhixu finished dressing and walked away from Xu Yihuan.
"I'll wait for you outside."
Xu Yihuan didn't think anything was wrong and nodded.
Tan Zhixu stood at the door, leaning against the wall.
He was holding his phone, looking at something, I don't know.
Soon, all the classmates had left, leaving only Tan Zhixu in the corridor.
There's heating right inside the door, yet here I am in the cold hallway at this hour instead of going in.
Soon, this unusual scene caught the attention of the students from the Discipline Inspection Department who were on patrol.
"Hey kid, which class are you in? What are you doing here during evening self-study time?"
His tone was very official; his voice preceded his arrival.
Tan Zhixu looked up.
A girl with exquisite makeup was wearing a black down jacket, but underneath she was wearing a shirt and a short skirt, seemingly unafraid of the cold. She was accompanied by a boy who looked rather dull, probably a freshman.
The girl's face was cold, while the boy's face was full of excitement.
He had already made many trips, and finally this was the one he had been waiting for.
The girl's originally sharp gaze softened considerably the moment it fell on Tan Zhixu.
He coughed lightly twice.
"What's your name, classmate? Which class are you in?"
“Mathematics Department.” Tan Zhixu paused, then continued, “Lu Shui.”
The girl was diligently taking notes in her notebook: "Which road water?"
"The road of the road, the water of the mineral water."
Upon hearing this, the boy's expression immediately fell into disappointment.
I finally caught someone, but they're from another department.
They are the disciplinary inspectors of the branch school, not the school's disciplinary inspectors.
The girl looked up at Tan Zhixu: "Mathematics major? Then what are you doing here? This whole building is the evening study room for the foreign language department."
The girl looked Tan Zhixu up and down: "Are you here to accompany your girlfriend to evening self-study?"
“He was not in the classroom during evening self-study time and openly played on his phone.”
“This behavior is extremely egregious, and I will report it to the school's disciplinary committee for handling.”
Upon hearing this, the young man looked at his superior in surprise. What was wrong with the deputy minister? Didn't he usually turn a blind eye to these kinds of things?
The girl paused, then coughed lightly twice: "But if you explain things properly, we're not the kind of people who are heartless."
Tan Zhixu listened for a long time, but the girl kept babbling on and on, and he couldn't understand what she was saying. She didn't get to the point at all.
So Tan Zhixu asked bluntly, "What exactly are you trying to say?"
She was a little embarrassed by Tan Zhixu's straightforward question.
The girl took out her phone, frowned, and looked impatient: "Let's add each other on WeChat first. Send me your basic information, and I'll discuss with the department head how to proceed."
Tan Zhixu gently curled his lips.
The words that came out of Thirty-Six Degrees' mouth were icy cold: "I'm sorry, my WeChat account has been blocked due to suspected fraud."
As soon as she finished speaking, the girl's face turned ugly.
The boy next to her wanted to laugh but didn't dare, feeling uncomfortable holding it in.
He had already figured it out; the vice minister was lusting after her beauty, and he was going to such lengths to do it—it was quite amusing.
Before the girl could say anything more, Tan Zhixu suddenly stood up straight.
He took two steps forward.
Soon, a voice came, its previous cold and hard attitude softened many times over.
