Chapter 148: Returning Home
Final exam week always seems to fly by.
After finishing her solo interview, Xu Yihuan devoted herself to reviewing her studies.
During the three days of final exams, Tan Zhixu and I almost always had our own seats in the library.
At 2 PM on January 13th, Xu Yihuan finished her last exam and came out of the examination room.
After returning to the dormitory and packing my things, I prepared to head to the airport.
As soon as I went downstairs, I saw Tan Zhixu waiting downstairs, looking sullen.
Xu Yihuan walked to his side and pinched his cheek with amusement.
"What's wrong, handsome? Why are you unhappy?"
Tan Zhixu shook his head, took Xu Yihuan's suitcase without saying a word, and dragged her towards the car.
Xu Yi smiled and followed Tan Zhixu.
From Peking University to the Capital Airport, a one-hour drive, Tan Zhixu remained silent no matter what Xu Yihuan said.
Gradually, Xu Yihuan stopped talking.
We arrived at the airport.
As always, Beijing Capital International Airport was packed with people. It seemed like there was a celebrity there today, as all the empty seats in the airport terminal were filled with people, all wearing masks and hats in unison.
Tan Zhixu and Xu Yihuan found a place to stand.
Xu Yihuan glanced at Tan Zhixu: "Are you sure you don't want to talk to me? We won't see each other again for another month."
Tan Zhixu's eyes immediately reddened, and he grabbed Xu Yihuan, pulling her into his arms.
With his head buried in Xu Yihuan's neck, he finally spoke his first words to Xu Yihuan: "Not a month."
"Huh? What?" Xu Yihuan followed Tan Zhixu's back, not quite hearing what Tan Zhixu said.
"I won't wait a month; I'll come find you after the New Year."
Tan Zhixu raised his head and looked at Xu Yihuan with a serious expression.
Xu Yihuan was taken aback for a moment, but didn't take it seriously, and nodded in agreement: "Okay, then when you return to Yuncheng, I'll show you around."
Tan Zhixu stared at Xu Yihuan for a while, then unexpectedly lowered his head and kissed Xu Yihuan's lips.

The plane landed in Yuncheng three hours later.

As soon as she stepped out of the airport, Xu Yihuan was about to contact her father to pick her up when she saw her family's familiar car.
Uncle Zhang stood in front of the car, waving at Xu Yihuan.
Xu Yihuan naturally put away her phone and walked to the car.
"Let's go, Uncle Zhang. Why are you the one who came? Where is my father?"
Xu Rongyu knew she was returning to Yuncheng today and had originally planned to pick her up.
"The master is still in a meeting. He said he's busy today, so he sent me instead," Uncle Zhang said as he put Xu Yihuan's suitcase into the car.
Since the board of directors made the decision, Xu Rongyu has been busy shifting his focus to the capital. During this period, he has been working from dawn to dusk, but Xu Yihuan is unaware of this and can only silently complain in her heart that Xu Rongyu is not keeping his word.
They completely forgot that they themselves were also people who didn't keep their word.
But I've grown up now, so I wouldn't get angry over something like this. I opened the car door and got in.
"Let's go home, Uncle Zhang."
When I got home, the lights were on, but as soon as I entered, only Wang Ma, who was still awake, was inside.
Xu Yihuan gave a casual greeting and went back to her room.
I had just gone upstairs when the phone rang right on time.
"Hello?"
Xu Yihuan took off her coat, turned on the heater, and casually picked up her phone.
"Are you home?"
Upon hearing the sound, Xu Yihuan paused, suddenly remembering that she had said she would tell Tan Zhixu about it when she arrived.
Feeling a little guilty, she replied, "Oh, right, I just got home."
"He didn't call me back after getting off the plane? I was waiting anxiously on the other end of the phone for him to send me a message. What an ingrate."
Tan Zhixu's sharp critique elicited a smirk from Xu Yihuan.
"Oh my, I haven't seen you for four hours! I miss you so much! Don't call me, let's video chat!"
It was rare for Xu Yihuan to take the initiative to ask for a video call.
Tan Zhixu was happy, said "Okay," and hung up the phone decisively.
"Hey kid, who are you talking to on the phone?"
Grandpa Tan, leaning on his cane, pushed open Tan Zhixu's door with one hand.
Tan Zhixu said that her parents were very loving, and she lived with her grandfather most of the time, so she would go back to the old house to keep her grandfather company whenever she had a holiday.
Perhaps because he was in a good mood, Tan Zhixu wasn't angry.
"Um...girlfriend."
Upon hearing this, Grandpa Tan's eyes widened, and he swallowed back the meal he had prepared for the blind date.
"What did you say? You have a girlfriend?"

Grandpa Tan chuckled as soon as he saw her: "I've seen this person before. She was in your hospital room back then. You had a crush on her, didn't you? Such a pretty young girl, how could she be interested in you?"
Tan Zhixu was so angry with his grandfather that he glared at him and said, "You old man, don't talk nonsense if you don't understand. They'll be calling me on video soon!"
Grandpa Tan glanced at Tan Zhixu and said deliberately, "I don't believe you, you're just bragging."
"It's been so long and I still haven't called you. You must be dreaming."
After his grandfather pointed it out, Tan Zhixu realized that Xu Yihuan still hadn't called back.
The smile on his face immediately faded.
Regardless of what Grandpa Tan said, they insisted on pushing the person out.
He sat alone on the bay window by the window and waited for a long time, but still didn't receive a call from Xu Yihuan.
Tan Zhixu's face instantly darkened. Xu Yihuan had tricked him again!
Xu Yihuan swore that she really didn't mean to mess with Tan Zhixu.
She had just hung up the phone when she heard a noise downstairs. When she went down, she saw that her father had indeed returned.
"When did Huanhuan come back?" Xu Rongyu changed her clothes and sat on the sofa. Even though she was dressed casually, she couldn't hide her exhaustion.
"I got off the plane a little after eight o'clock."
Mr. Xu leaned back on the sofa.
"Okay. If you're hungry, I'll have Aunt Wang cook you something to eat."
"I know."
"I'm going on a business trip to Yunding Mountain in a couple of days. Take good care of yourself at home, okay?" Xu Rongyu looked at Xu Yihuan tenderly.
Xu Yihuan walked over and sat down next to Xu Rongyu: "I know, don't overwork yourself."
Xu Rongyu reached out and patted Xu Yihuan's head, her voice gentle: "Once this matter is finished, you can take a break during the New Year. When do you start school next year?"
Xu Yihuan was a little sullen: "The end of February."
"Around March or April, I should be able to move the headquarters there."
Upon hearing this, Xu Yihuan's previously dim eyes immediately lit up: "Really?!"
In that case, she will no longer be alone in the capital!
"Why would I lie to you? So Dad will be quite busy during this time. Take good care of yourself, okay?"
