Chapter 161: Baby told him to get lost
In the second semester of freshman year, the workload of foreign language classes gradually increased, and a new "easy" course, German and French, was added.
It was also a large class taken with the mathematics department.
Like the Mao Zedong Thought teacher, the German and French teachers were not very strict; they would only ask questions occasionally during class.
However, since they weren't as advanced as the Mao Zedong Thought teacher, they could only squint and refer to the roll call sheet to take attendance.
The attendance sheet was printed out directly and had not been updated yet, so the German and French teacher was lucky enough to draw a name that was easy to pronounce.
"Zhou Yanzhe".
"Zhou Yanzhe".
The classroom, which had about a hundred people, fell silent instantly, and not a single person responded.
Everyone looked left and right, whispering among themselves, trying to find the lucky one who had managed to skip class and still get caught.
But to no avail.
"Oh, Zhou Yanzhe isn't here, is he? Did Zhou Yanzhe ask for leave, class monitor and academic representative of the English class?"
"If not, we'll mark him as absent. If he did take leave, remember to send me the leave slip."
The English class monitor was a refined young man. Perhaps because he was too busy, he had almost forgotten that Zhou Yanzhe had come to the school on a joint training program and had already transferred back this semester.
Just as the class monitor was about to say that there was no leave slip, one of Zhou Yanzhe's roommates spoke up.
"Teacher, Zhou Yanzhe is not from our school. He was sent by the neighboring University of Science and Technology Beijing for a joint training program, which lasted for one semester. He should have gone back by now."
The teacher had obviously heard this kind of thing many times before, so he didn't think much of it and just nodded.
"Okay, I got it. The class monitor of the English class, go back and reprint a new copy of this list for me."
The class monitor nodded in agreement.
Xu Yihuan and Lu Anlan sat in the corner, and Lu Anlan couldn't help but whisper to each other.
"No wonder I haven't seen Zhou Yanzhe once since the start of the semester. So he went back."
"Huanhuan, do you know about this?"
If I remember correctly, towards the end of last semester, he was still very fond of Xu Yihuan. He could be seen almost wherever Xu Yihuan was, especially during the professor exchange. Zhou Yanzhe didn't seem like the type to leave so soon.
After all, I've never seen a joint training program that lasts only one semester; it's usually four to six months or more, isn't it?
Xu Yihuan shook her head, indicating that she did not know.
"Wouldn't it be better if you went back? If you care about him that much, I'll talk to my aunt and send you to keep him company." A sarcastic voice came from behind.
Lu Anlan looked over at the sound with displeasure, but her anger vanished instantly.
Consort Tan was sharp-tongued but undeniably beautiful, so he could only turn to Xu Yihuan for help.
Xu Yihuan glanced at Tan Zhixu with a half-smile.
"Tan is very jealous."
Upon receiving a look from Xu Yihuan, Tan Zhixu immediately fawned over her.
He didn't shy away from Xu Yihuan's words at all: "So what? You're mine, you're mine alone."
Undeniably, Xu Yihuan felt a shameful sense of satisfaction as she sensed Tan Zhixu's possessiveness.
"Oh well……"
This class was the same as always; I just played games while listening to the lecture and that's how I got through it.
After class, as usual, Xu Yihuan and Tan Zhixu should go to the library for their next date.
But for some reason, the person who usually just stands up, grabs the books, and leaves is strangely slow packing up today.
Even after everyone had left, leaving only Xu Yihuan and Tan Zhixu in the classroom, Tan Zhixu was still visibly dawdling, and Xu Yihuan finally became a little impatient.
How long are you going to take to pack these two books?
As if throwing a tantrum, Tan Zhixu casually tossed aside the book in his hand, reached out and hugged Xu Yihuan around the waist, letting her sit on his lap and resting his chin on her shoulder.
"What are you doing? Are you yelling at me because of Zhou Yanzhe? How can you be like this? I've been with you since I was eighteen, and now you won't even give me a proper title."
Tan Zhixu muttered to himself, his voice growing more and more aggrieved, and the hand around Xu Yihuan's waist tightened.
He wished he could embed Xu Yihuan into his arms.
It's already March, and Tan Zhixu's clothes are much thinner than in winter. Sitting on Tan Zhixu's lap, you can even feel his burning body temperature, which makes Xu Yihuan feel hot too.
She looked down at him helplessly, but her eyes were immediately drawn to his fair and delicate collarbone.
Xu Yihuan pursed her lips and looked away from Tan Zhixu.
"What nonsense are you talking about? How come you don't have a formal title anymore?"
"Then why did you have that expression when you heard Zhou Yanzhe's name today?" Tan Zhixu asked, feeling wronged and unhappy, and kept her head down, refusing to look at Xu Yihuan.
Xu Yihuan felt that this was an undeserved disaster.
Eyes widened slightly: "I..."
Before she could even finish speaking, her phone rang again in the empty classroom, interrupting Xu Yihuan.
Xu Yihuan sat on Tan Zhixu's lap, and being held tightly by him made it difficult for her to move around.
After finally managing to reach for her phone, she hadn't even seen the incoming call before it was in Tan Zhixu's hands.
The caller ID shows a string of numbers.
Tan Zhixu looked at the familiar number. If he remembered correctly, he had dialed this number during the winter vacation not long ago.
Tan Zhixu looked directly at Xu Yihuan, raising an eyebrow as if demanding an explanation from her.
Xu Yihuan was confused; whose phone was this?
Before Xu Yihuan could even take the phone, Tan Zhixu preemptively pressed the call button.
A cold, lonely voice came through, carrying disbelief that the other end had answered the phone: "Huanhuan."
Xu Yihuan recognized the voice almost instantly and tried to hang up, but before she could touch the phone, Tan Zhixu raised it up, and Xu Yihuan couldn't reach it.
"What?" Xu Yihuan glared at Tan Zhixu and asked through gritted teeth.
These words didn't sound like they were spoken to Zhou Yanzhe; they sounded more like they were spoken to Tan Zhixu.
"Huanhuan, I'm here to say goodbye." Zhou Yanzhe was pleasantly surprised that Xu Yihuan answered his call and said impatiently.
Perhaps knowing that Xu Yihuan would not speak again, Zhou Yanzhe continued, "I'm going to study in Country E soon, actually because of the professor exchange last time."
“Mr. James gave me a business card, and I’ve decided to go.”
Xu Yihuan hadn't expected this turn of events. As she was deep in thought, Tan Zhixu beneath her began to move restlessly again.
Xu Yihuan could only give a casual "oh".
Zhou Yanzhe seemed oblivious to Xu Yihuan's coldness and continued, "Huanhuan, I know I wasn't good to you before... but actually, that's not what I thought. I thought we would never be apart, which is why I had demands on you and lost my temper with you."
Xu Yihuan sneered twice, finding it absurd. Was this what people online often referred to as "saving your temper for the person you love most"?
She was not fortunate enough to receive Zhou Yanzhe's love.
Xu Yihuan didn't continue speaking, waiting for Tan Zhixu to speak.
"Huanhuan, I'm leaving soon, but I still want to tell you one thing: you must remember to stay away from Pei Yuli."
Pei Yuli allowed him to get close to Xu Yihuan, presumably so that he could stab her in the back once he was close to her.
And just because he can make him do it doesn't mean he himself can't do it.
Xu Yihuan didn't say anything.
On Zhou Yanzhe's end, the boarding announcement had already started, presumably urging him to board, but Zhou Yanzhe did not hang up the phone for a long time.
Perhaps as he was saying his final goodbye, Zhou Yanzhe's voice lowered.
"Huanhuan...do you really not want me anymore?"
Zhou Yanzhe's voice seemed to conjure up an image of the other side, a pitiful figure, like an unwanted puppy.
Xu Yihuan rolled her eyes and reached out to hang up the phone.
At that moment, Tan Zhixu pinched Xu Yihuan's waist lightly.
He buried his head in Xu Yihuan's shoulder, whispered in her ear, and said with a possessive tone, "Baby, make him get lost."
Xu Yihuan paused, inexplicably understanding what it felt like to be King Zhou, and couldn't help but smile.
With a satisfied smile, he bent down and pressed his burning lips to the red mole between Tan Zhixu's eyebrows.
He coaxed her, saying, "Okay."
