Chapter 225: Car Accident
Jiang Jinnan parked the car in front of Xu Yihuan, and Xu Yihuan got in and fastened her seatbelt.
"Let's go."
Jiang Jinnan nodded, glancing at Xu Yihuan out of the corner of his eye, seemingly unintentionally.
To be precise, it was the clothes Xu Yihuan was wearing.
"Your clothes...?"
Xu Yihuan was still thinking about Tan Zhixu when she heard this. She straightened her clothes and casually said, "Oh, someone else's."
Jiang Jinan shut his mouth, realizing that Xu Yihuan didn't want to talk, so he didn't ask any more questions and took Xu Yihuan for a walk in the western suburbs.
The workers are working overtime every day, and at this pace, the place should be able to open in about a month, around December.
As for the approval process, they had already completed it long ago. They did it while Tan Wenye was still in office, and what should have been a week's process was completed in three days.
Thinking of this, Xu Yihuan suddenly realized that it had been a long time since she had heard from Wen Ye.
Xu Yihuan pursed her lips, thinking to herself that she would go back and ask her mother in a couple of days. She wouldn't say much else, but her mother would know some of the news anyway.
Thinking this way, I had almost finished walking the lap.
The technicians we found were very responsible, and with someone keeping an eye on things regularly, there have been almost no problems here.
It was almost 10 p.m. when Xu Yihuan's biological clock kicked in and she started to feel sleepy. Wearing Tan Zhixu's coat, she felt even more comfortable sleeping since there was no cool breeze outside.
Xu Yihuan yawned twice.
Jiang Jinnan noticed this and took the opportunity to suggest going back now.
It's perfect timing; if I go back now, I can catch the curfew.
Xu Yihuan immediately agreed.
Get on the bus to Jiangjin South.
There was no music playing in the car, and the atmosphere was too quiet. Xu Yihuan tried to start a conversation: "The West Suburbs Shopping Mall will open at the end of the month."
Jiang Jinnan seemed to have little desire to chat and gave a low "hmm".
Xu Yihuan turned her gaze to the window. In the pitch-black night, the scenery outside the window kept receding.
A hint of anticipation flickered in Xu Yihuan's eyes.
"I wonder how the opening will go."
Jiang Jinan calmed down a bit, a slight smile playing on his lips. Seeing that they were about to enter the city and get onto the elevated highway, he stepped on the gas.
"It should be an unprecedented spectacle."
With all three companies collaborating simultaneously and launching a large-scale campaign a month in advance, even a passing dog would know, let alone curious Chinese people.
Jiang Jinnan's words also piqued Xu Yihuan's interest.
When people have something to look forward to, they come alive.
Xu Yihuan reached out and touched the car's multimedia system, just about to play a couple of songs, when the car suddenly made a sharp turn, and Xu Yihuan felt like she was about to be thrown out.
Soon, the vehicle seemed to hit something, and with a bang, Xu Yihuan was thrown forward violently. The airbags deployed, and the next instant, Xu Yihuan lost consciousness.
At the intersection in front of the overpass, a few scattered cars were waiting at the traffic light, watching helplessly as an expensive Mercedes-Benz, upon encountering a large truck that ran a red light, miraculously changed direction at an extreme speed!
The truck was going very fast. The Mercedes turned around, and the passenger side, which was originally facing the truck, became the side of the driver's seat.
With a loud bang, the two cars collided!
The Mercedes' front end was badly damaged, and the truck's exterior appeared slightly dirty from a distance.
The next second, three lively people jumped off the truck and quickly ran to the Mercedes to rummage around.
The vehicle showed signs of spontaneous combustion, and the doors were already getting hot.
"Damn it, didn't the boss say he wanted people alive? You're driving so recklessly, do you want to die?"
"Damn, it's burning me!"
"Alright, that's enough. Hurry up and take this woman away to complete your mission!"
The three of them huffed and puffed as they carried Xu Yihuan out of the passenger seat.
Jiang Jinnan was strapped to the chair with a seatbelt, and blood was gushing from his forehead and face.
Her breathing was very weak, and she was struggling to stay awake. She opened her eyes a crack, hoping to see the scene clearly, but her consciousness was slowly fading away.
"And what about the remaining man?"
"Who cares what he did? He's dead, he's dead. The boss just wants the woman alive."
After they finished speaking, they took Xu Yihuan away, leaving Jiang Jinnan in the car. Smoke began to rise from the hood of the car, and the temperature of the car body gradually increased.
Meanwhile, in Tan Zhixu's apartment, Tan Zhixu was slumped wearily on the sofa, loosening his tie, looking a little stifled.
The phone rang. Tan Zhixu half-closed his eyes, leaned lazily against the sofa, crossed his legs, casually rested one hand on the armrest, and picked up the phone with the other.
He answered the phone without even looking at it.
"Hello?"
"Your woman is in my hands. If you want her to live, prepare 50 million within three days and come to the warehouse at Dongshan Port!"
"Remember, you're coming alone!"
Upon hearing that eerie voice, Tan Zhixu immediately sobered up and stood up abruptly.
I gripped my phone tightly, my breathing quickening for a moment.
"What do you mean?"
The person on the other end sneered twice: "What do I mean? You'll find out what I mean when you get here!"
After he finished speaking, the other end of the phone hung up.
Tan Zhixu's hands trembled as he stared intently at the screen. The next second, a multimedia message appeared on his phone.
It's a photo of Xu Yihuan tied up, with the background seemingly being a corner of a warehouse.
Xu Yihuan closed her eyes, her face was very pale in the dim light, and her body leaned weakly against the abandoned shipping container behind her.
Tan Zhixu's heart clenched, and a look of urgency flashed in his eyes.
He turned the phone around and dialed the number back.
But all I heard from the phone was a mechanical, electronic voice.
The number you dialed is not in service...
Tan Zhixu's eyes instantly turned cold. He took a deep breath and called Assistant Liang.
Assistant Liang was about to go to sleep when he suddenly received a call from his boss, which he answered with great resentment.
"Hello, Mr. Tan."
"Go, find all the major banks, mobilize five million in cash, and deliver it to Dongshan Port within a day. I'll be waiting for you there."
"Have the technical department check Xu Yihuan's phone location."
"Also, find out where that old bastard Tan Zhicheng is now!"
Upon hearing this, Assistant Liang was instantly wide awake.
"Yes, Mr. Tan!"
"That old bastard Tan Zhicheng, I didn't expect him to act so quickly!" Tan Zhixu gritted his teeth.
Just as I was about to hang up, I remembered something else.
"By the way, keep the news under wraps and don't let the Xu family or the Pei family know."
Assistant Liang paused in his act of getting up.
It wasn't going to be difficult, but I still forced myself to say okay.
Tan Zhixu hung up the phone, immediately grabbed his keys, drove off, and left.
Tan Zhixu sped all the way to the warehouse, his heart pounding so hard he could hardly contain himself.
With both hands gripping the steering wheel tightly, treating red lights as green lights, Tan Zhixu gritted his teeth. If Xu Yihuan really got into trouble, he would never be able to forgive himself!
Tan Zhixu narrowed his eyes, then remembered something, picked up his phone and made a call.
Meanwhile, inside the abandoned warehouse at Dongshan Port, there were only dusty containers; there were no people in sight.
Tan Zhicheng isn't stupid. Tan Zhixu can't possibly get 50 million right now. What if he takes the man to the warehouse and Tan Zhixu gets angry and tries to take him down with him?
