Chapter 296 Ye Jia will remember his brother’s life-saving grace

The woman ignored his anger, which made the man even angrier.
If he couldn't lay a hand on Yin Xiu, could he lay a hand on his own woman? He raised the half of the stool in his hand and prepared to swing it, but Yin Xiu instantly drew his sword, and the long blade was placed against the man's throat. Behind the cold light, Yin Xiu's eyes radiated a threat.
"Don't hit a woman."
The man couldn't hold back his expression, and gritted his teeth, "This is my wife, I can beat her if I want, it's none of your business!"
Yin Xiu kicked him into a corner and stared at him coldly, "It's only natural for you to bully the weak, so it's also only natural for me to hit you, right?"
The man glared at the woman with a dark face, hoping that she would take care of Yin Xiu, but the woman completely ignored him.

"I went for a walk." Yin Xiu sat down and looked outside. He had been here for a while, but for some reason it was almost dark and the black fog had not arrived yet.
"Didn't the black fog that attacked last time appear at irregular intervals?"
"Well, sometimes it comes twice a day, and sometimes it doesn't come for a few days." The woman nodded nonchalantly.
Yin Xiu took note of it in his heart, hoping that he could see the sacrificial ceremony before the black fog came. However, rather than the ceremony going smoothly, he was more looking forward to something unexpected happening during the ceremony.

The woman who was taking a nap in bed opened her eyes and said, "Don't get yourself into trouble. If you anger them, you will really die."
Yin Xiu waved his hand and walked out the door.
There were few people at night and no lights were on in every house, so it was extremely dark, making it very convenient for Yin Xiu to sneak around.

Yin Xiu looked around the room. It was empty. There was nothing there except the little girl. It didn't look like a granary at all.
Under the girl's uneasy gaze, Yin Xiu put away the knife and looked at her, "You are the sacrifice, right?"
The girl was stunned. "How do you know?"
The girl's response confirmed Yin Xiu's thoughts. "The granary... a place to store food, but there's a person inside. Either the villagers are eating people, or they're preparing to offer them to the gods. Either way, if you continue to stay here, you'll die sooner or later."
The girl shivered, then stood up on tiptoe, peeked outside, and saw several villagers lying at the door with pale faces.
"If they find you opening the door, they'll kill you!"
"It doesn't matter." Yin Xiu pulled the girl up and turned to lead her to the edge of the village. "You'll die if you continue to stay here. Let's go."
