Chapter 18: Saving the Male Lead's Sister

The moment Xin Sui stepped out of the studio, she breathed a long sigh of relief.

Looking back at the studio door, her eyes flickered with light, and the dark seed in her heart grew stronger once more.

"Xiao Li, where are you going?"

Xiao Ming saw that Xin Sui was about to go out, so he followed her.

"Didn't I tell you before? I'm going to buy the ingredients to make braised pork for you. You stay home and I'll make you something delicious when I get back."

Xiao Ming: "Then you need to come back as soon as possible."

Two big eyes stared at her expectantly, as if afraid that she would never come back.

Xin Sui lightly tapped his nose and laughed, "I know, you little foodie."

[Host, the male lead's sister just stole water from the water shop and is being chased.]

Xin Sui felt a chill run down her spine and quickly left the mobile courtyard. Under the system's guidance, she rushed towards Shui Qingqing, who was the male protagonist's older sister.

When she arrived, she saw a group of people beating up a child.

The child was thin and bony, his body curled up, tightly protecting a jar beneath him.

Xin Sui asked the system, "Is this Shui Qingqing?"

[Yes. ]

The novel's plot begins when the male protagonist is 15 years old, so Shui Qingqing, the male protagonist's twin sister, is also 15 years old.

However, she looked no more than twelve or thirteen years old, and there was no trace of feminine characteristics in her.

However, as orphans, the siblings had a hard life from a young age, often going hungry and cold, so Shui Qingqing's appearance is understandable.

Xin Sui walked over, and with a thought, a whip appeared out of thin air in his hand.

With a swift motion, he slapped the tattooed man who had struck the hardest.

"Who the hell dares to hit the old man—"

The tattooed man turned around fiercely, but when he saw Xin Sui, he swallowed the last word.

This man was an employee of Li's Water Shop.

His expression froze, and he hurriedly bowed and smiled obsequiously, "Oh, it's you, Fifth Miss! Look at my foul mouth, I deserve a beating!"

He slapped himself in the face.

Xin Sui raised her chin, playing with the whip in her hand, acting exactly like a spoiled young lady.

He asked, feigning ignorance, "What happened?"

The tattooed man kicked the water on the ground, saying, "This little bastard has a death wish, daring to steal the store's water."

Xin Sui frowned, feeling very uncomfortable with the tattooed man's actions, but she didn't show it on her face.

Given Li Xueli's usual behavior, it's impossible for her to be so kind as to let go of someone who stole her water.

It doesn't matter if Xin Sui's persona collapses in front of the villain Xuan Tu, since Xuan Tu doesn't care who she is at all.

However, it's best to be careful in front of outsiders.

After all, all sorts of superpowers exist in the apocalypse; possession and mind control are nothing unusual.

It would be bad if it aroused the suspicion of the Li family and caused trouble.

Xin Sui waved his whip, signaling the others to move aside.

He came up to Shui Qingqing and squatted down.

Shui Qingqing's skin was quite dark, and she was covered in dust from the ground, making her look disheveled.

Because he was so thin, his face seemed to consist only of a pair of large, somewhat eerie eyes.

Her eyes were full of vigilance as she kept moving backward while holding the water.

Xin Sui beckoned with his finger, "Hold her down."

Without saying a word, the tattooed man pinned Shui Qingqing down by the hands and feet.

Xin Sui took the water bottle from her arms.

"Give it back to me!"

Shui Qingqing tried to rush forward and snatch the water back, but she was held down tightly and couldn't break free at all.

Xin Sui glanced at the water in the jar and almost vomited.

This water is so dirty!

There seem to be bugs crawling inside.

She knew that the people here had difficulty getting water, but she didn't know it was this bad.

The fact that this water has to be fought over shows that even Shuiqingqing can't afford to use it.

Xin Sui poured out the water from the jar.

Shui Qingqing's eyes widened, and a desperate sob escaped her throat.

Xin Sui's heart tightened.

As an actress, her empathy is far stronger than that of the average person, and seeing Shui Qingqing like this really hurt her.

Suppressing her emotions, she took out a bottle of spiritual spring water from her spatial storage, shook it in the clear water, and revealed a wicked smile.

"How about we play a game? If you can snatch this bottle of water from my hand, it's yours."

Upon hearing this, hope rekindled in Shui Qingqing's eyes, but she still found it hard to believe.

"Let her go," Xin Sui ordered the tattooed man.

The moment she was released, Shui Qingqing pounced over like a little leopard, her target the bottle of water in her hand.

Xin Sui threw the water to the tattooed man, who then threw the water to another person.

Shui Qingqing was forced to run back and forth between several people, her mouth was dry, and her wounds were hurting even more.

In addition, the weather was hot, and she was sweating profusely. The sweat stung her eyes as it ran down.

The onlookers burst into laughter.

Xin Sui also had a smile on her face, as if she was enjoying herself.

After playing for a while, when the water was returned to her hand, she deliberately stumbled, letting Shui Qingqing snatch the water away.

Shui Qingqing grabbed the water and ran away in a flash, like a rabbit.

The tattooed man was about to chase after them and snatch the water back.

Xin Sui lashed out with the whip again, her tone icy: "What, do you want me to go back on my word in front of so many people?"

The tattooed man immediately denied it: "How could I dare?"

"Hmph, it's just a bottle of water. Let them take it. I've had my fill of playing with it."

"Get out of here. If I catch you neglecting your duties again, it won't be as simple as just a couple of lashes."

The tattooed man and his men left, bowing and scraping.

Xin Sui glanced in the direction Shui Qingqing had run off to, but did not follow.
