Chapter 68 Dream

Chapter 68 Dream

Wen Nianchu: “…”

This is the first time I see someone so happy even after losing a game.

There is only one truth.

The Xie Yue in the past wouldn’t really like playing games.

Wen Nianchu suddenly felt a little pitiful for him. What was pitiful was that Xie Yue didn't even have a happy childhood. Although she, Wen Nianchu, felt a little depressed when she was in the Wen family, everyone obeyed her and spoiled her, and she could play whatever she wanted.

So, Wen Nianchu raised the game controller, bent down and picked up the new disk, and his tone became gentle:

"Want to play something else?"

Xie Yue nodded obediently, his eyelashes casting a shadow.

And his action made Wen Nianchu more certain of his thoughts.

Xie Yue, so pitiful...

She moved closer to him, suddenly reached out and rubbed the top of his head, smiling with her eyebrows curved:

"Don't worry, I'm here for you. I guarantee you'll have a happy childhood."

"We can't lack anything: food, drink, and entertainment!"

Xie Yue felt the faint fragrance from the hair drifting past his nose. His Adam's apple moved slightly, and he instantly lowered his eyelids to hide the dark color in his eyes. When he raised his eyes again, they were clear as day.

"Then sister...you must keep your word."

"We have to make a pinky promise."

His voice was deliberately lowered, with a hint of coquettishness.

swear?

Wen Nianchu looked at his serious expression and couldn't help but smile. She stretched out her right hand and said, "Okay, I swear..."

But the next second, Xie Yue did not hook her fingers, but suddenly lowered his head and gently rested his chin on her fingertips.

His face suddenly enlarged in front of her eyes, so close that Wen Nianchu could see each of his eyelashes clearly and even feel the warm breath of his breath.

Her heart suddenly skipped a beat.

"You..." She suddenly retracted her hand and stuttered a little, "Pin hooks are made with your hands. Who taught you to use your chin?"

Xie Yue blinked, his expression innocent and aggrieved:

"Sister, I grew up in an orphanage, and no one taught me these things... I thought this was how a pinky promise worked."

His voice was low and pitiful, as if he was really upset about not understanding these established rules.

Wen Nianchu was stunned for a moment, and looking at his slightly drooping eyelashes, her heart suddenly softened.

"real?"

"Sister, you lied to me when you said you were an orphan too."

There is only one orphanage in Rongcheng, and he has never seen her.

"Hahaha, let's play games first."

Wen Nianchu immediately changed the subject.

However, as Wen Nianchu was playing, she didn't know why, but she felt very tired. She yawned, and her eyelids were fighting each other. She was too sleepy to open her eyes.

She realized she might be a little tired.

After all, I drove the car for so long today, and after coming back I played games crazily for several hours in a row.

So, she leaned against the sofa, her hair loose, curled up in a comfortable position and fell asleep.

Worried about what Xie Yue might do to her? That was impossible. How could she not understand Xie Yue?

"elder sister?"

No response.

The only sound in the living room was the background music from the game playing in a low loop.

Xie Yue gently put down the controller, his eyes involuntarily falling on her. The blue light from the screen flowed across her face, outlining her quiet features.

His gaze passed by as light as a feather.

From her slightly fluttering eyelashes to the relaxed lip lines from deep sleep.

From the hair that falls over the edge of the sofa to the slender wrists casually resting on the armrest.

Finally, his eyes rested on her lips.

Xie Yue's gaze stayed for several seconds before slowly moving away.

Should I carry her to the bedroom?

As soon as this thought came to mind, Xie Yue's ears started to burn.

He stared at his hand hanging in the air, his knuckles slightly stiff.

Reason told him that he should wake her up.

But looking at her sleeping peacefully, I couldn't bear to disturb her.

Xie Yue finally sighed softly, knelt on one knee beside the sofa, and carefully lifted her neck and knees. Wen Nianchu unconsciously rubbed against his arms in her sleep, her hair brushing against his collarbone, bringing a warm touch.

So light.

This realization made his heart inexplicably soft.

He walked very slowly, for fear of waking her.

Wen Nianchu's bedroom door was ajar.

Xie Yue put her directly on the bed.

He bent down with extreme caution, as if he was placing some fragile treasure.

Just as he was about to leave, Wen Nianchu suddenly grabbed the corner of his clothes.

“…Don’t go.”

Her mumbling incoherently made Xie Yue freeze in his tracks. It wasn't completely dark yet, so Xie Yue could clearly see her slightly furrowed brows, probably indicating she was caught in some nightmare.

Xie Yue obediently did not leave. He stood there and watched his school uniform being tightly grasped by her.

"Mom, I miss you so much."

"Mom, please don't leave me here." Her voice was tearful, tears seeped from the corners of her eyes and slowly slid down her cheeks.

Xie Yue lowered his eyes and looked at her, subconsciously reaching out to wipe it off for her, but when his fingertips were about to touch her skin, he timidly pulled back.

He pursed his lips, then took a tissue from the bedside, gently pressed it against the corner of her eye, and wiped away the tear.

Sure enough, she lied to him.

She is not an orphan at all.

"Mom, why don't you speak?" Wen Nianchu vaguely felt someone wiping her tears, and the movements were very gentle, as if afraid of breaking them.

She unconsciously leaned towards the hand, her voice incredibly soft:

"Say something..."

"You said...you like Nian Nian..."

"You want to be with Nian Nian."

Xie Yue was stunned.

Nian Nian?

Isn't her name Shui Xindao? Is Nian Nian her nickname?

He froze for a moment, his throat tightened, but he finally whispered along with her words and replied softly:

“…I like Nian Nian.”

"I want to be with Nian Nian."

After he finished speaking, he was stunned for a moment, then turned his face away, his ears slightly tilted.

He felt his face getting hot and he needed some fresh air.

After hearing these satisfying words, Wen Nianchu finally loosened her grip on the corner of his clothes. Xie Yue gently placed her hand under the quilt, tucked it in, and then almost fled from the bedroom.

He looked at the clock, thought about it, and decided to go back to the orphanage.

When he closed the door, it was very gentle.

That night, Xie Yue had a ridiculous dream.

He dreamed that he was standing in front of someone's bed. He was much taller than usual, and his shadow cast on the wall made him look particularly slender.

The person on the bed turned over, stretched out her fingers to hook the corner of his clothes, asking him not to leave. But this time, he did not choose to wipe away the other person's tears. Instead, he leaned over and kissed her, a low murmur escaping from his lips:

"Sister...don't play with others and don't fight."

What was even more terrifying was that in the dream, he did not choose to wipe away the other person's tears. Instead, he stared at the tears in the corners of the other person's eyes obsessively, and rubbed his thumb roughly across the wet cheek:

"You cry so beautifully."

The touch was terrifyingly real.
