Chapter 208 Who Learns Differently

Before Yao could feel smug for long, Ning Huan walked over from the side and said, "Big sister, I'm teaching everyone how to identify medicinal herbs. Why aren't you listening? What are you doing here?"

Zhou Lan paused for a moment, then said without turning her head, "I'm helping my mother sweep the yard. Sister-in-law, you go and talk to her first. I'm not listening today."

In fact, Zhou Lan knew that Yao Shi had no intention of having her attend the class today, so rather than make things unpleasant for everyone, she decided to just bear with it.

To everyone's surprise, Ning Huan frowned, stepped forward, snatched the broom from Zhou Lan's hand, and shoved it into Yao's hand: "Elder sister, you came here to learn how to identify medicinal herbs, how can you do other things and delay your important business?"

Zhou Lan felt a little wronged and was about to say something to Ning Huan when she saw Ning Huan's winking and gesturing, and she was stunned for a moment.

Yao was a little unhappy: "What are you saying, Third Brother's wife? My daughter is helping me with chores, how is that not doing something important? Today she is not allowed to go and learn about those useless herbs, she must stay here and help me sweep the yard."

"Besides, it wasn't someone else who asked us to sweep the yard. Wasn't it you, Third Brother's wife, who told us to sweep it?"

Yao spoke in a high-pitched voice, and soon many villagers heard the noise and ran over to see what was going on, which made her even more smug.

As she spoke, she sat down on the ground and started yelling, "Oh dear, I don't know what's wrong with my daughter-in-law. What have I done to offend you, as her mother-in-law? Why are you torturing me like this?"

"I'm an old woman, and my daughter-in-law still makes me do all this hard and tiring work. My eldest daughter couldn't stand it and came to help, but you chased her away too. Third daughter-in-law, you're doing this to me!"

Little did anyone know that Ning Huan had long been accustomed to Yao's ways. Compared to her previous calm and rational approach, she had now learned a real set of tricks to deal with Yao.

Ning Huan, mimicking the original owner of this body, also started wailing at the top of her lungs: "Mother, how can you say that your wife is doing something wrong! It was clearly you who insisted on coming to help, and no matter how much my husband and I tried to persuade you, you wouldn't leave."

“My sister clearly came here to learn how to identify medicinal herbs. I don’t know why you called her here. I felt really bad that she was making the villagers miss their classes by herself, so I came to find her.”

Ning Huan's tantrum stunned Yao Shi. She hadn't expected Ning Huan to act like this and didn't know what to do for a moment.

The villagers initially didn't care about Ning Huan's words, but when they heard that Zhou Lan would disrupt their classes, they became unhappy. They already didn't learn much in a day, and if they were delayed any longer, how could they accept it?

"What exactly happened? If Yao can't work, then so be it."

"That's not true at all. Didn't you hear what Jing'an's wife said? It was clearly Yao who came over on her own initiative, offering to help Jing'an and his wife's family with the chores."

"Then why are we making the eldest daughter do chores again? Isn't Zhou Lan learning about herbs with us now?"

Ning Huan then simply sat down on the ground and cried out, "Mom, if you don't want to do it, just go home! Your wife told you to go home and rest, but you refused. You kept telling your husband you wanted to help with the chores..."

"You're going to have four little dumplings serving you again, and now you're making your eldest sister do chores for you during the day. Mother, if you're really tired, go home and enjoy your life."

Upon hearing this, the villagers understood what had happened. It turned out that Yao had been eagerly coming over, trying to shirk her responsibilities by asking this person and that person to help her with the work.

Aunt Xiufen, who was standing nearby, couldn't help but speak up: "Hey Yao, if you can't do the work, don't come here and cause trouble. Don't you think Jing'an and his wife are busy enough?"

"You're just here to cause trouble, aren't you? Are you deliberately trying to get attention from your third son?"

These words hit the nail on the head, and Ning Huan couldn't help but praise Aunt Xiufen in her heart.

Feeling aggrieved that her scheme had been exposed, Yao pointed at Aunt Xiufen and shouted, "It's none of your business, an outsider, to talk about our family matters!"

"Besides, she's my own daughter. She feels sorry for her mother working, so what's wrong with her helping out?"

Ning Huan raised an eyebrow: "Since you say that it was my eldest sister who insisted on helping, then I understand. Today I am going to teach you a very important herb. All the villagers who are learning about herbs must be present. I will not teach you if even one person is missing."

"Big sister, are you still going to sweep the yard here?"

Upon hearing this, Zhou Lan immediately put down the broom in her hand. Not only did she want to learn, but so many villagers also wanted to learn: "Sister-in-law, I'll go back with you and learn right away."

To her surprise, Madam Yao stopped her, saying, "Where are you going? Aren't you supposed to help me clean the yard? You think you can just run away before you've finished cleaning it?"

A villager nearby said unhappily, "Yao, we already said Zhou Lan needs to learn about herbal medicine. Don't go and make things worse. If you can't do these chores, go home as soon as possible and don't waste everyone's time!"

Yao retorted in a shrill voice, "Who said I can't work anymore? Besides, this is my son's house. I can stay if I want, it's none of your business! And besides..."

She paused, then said with a hint of pride, "Although the eldest daughter has to stay and help me clean the yard, I can go and help her learn to identify medicinal herbs. It doesn't matter who learns, mother or daughter."

Yao had long wanted to learn about medicinal herbs. If it weren't for that bitch Ning Huan who insisted on getting the village chief's permission, would she have swallowed her pride and gone so far as to try and get on Zhou Lan's good side?

Ning Huan raised an eyebrow, now realizing what Yao was really up to.

“Mother, the villagers who study herbal medicine were all chosen from the beginning. No family is allowed to have fewer people, but there aren’t many either. What will the other villagers think if you suddenly barge in?”

As soon as Ning Huan finished speaking, a villager nearby spoke up unhappily: "That's right, if you, Yao, want to learn for your daughter, that's fine, but I'd like one of my family members to come over each day and take turns learning."

"We know what Yao is thinking. She's using these little tricks behind our backs. Does she really think we're all idiots?"

Hearing these words, Yao's face changed. She was so angry that she wanted to explode on the spot and curse these villagers, but she thought that if the village chief found out that she had come secretly, he would definitely be angry.

He had said he would take care of Zhou Jing'an, and even if the village chief knew, he would turn a blind eye. But if he heard that he was causing trouble here, he would definitely kick him out.

Zhou Dashan might get angry with her again, and then she would be completely finished. Her son would be estranged from her, and her husband would neglect her because of his anger. It would be a huge loss.

Thinking of this, Yao forced herself to hold back.
