Chapter Sixty-Two: Going Up the Mountain Together

Faced with Pang's question, Ning Huan nodded: "It's true, and these medicinal herbs can be exchanged for a lot of money. The doctor I hired to treat my husband and the medicine I bought were all paid for with the money I earned from the exchange of medicinal herbs."

Hearing this, Mrs. Pang nodded with satisfaction: "Huanhuan, you've grown up. You're capable of earning money to support your family now."

Meanwhile, the four little ones standing nearby heard that the pastries in their hands were bought with money Ning Huan earned from gathering herbs on the mountain.

The little ones exchanged glances, then stepped forward and said to Ning Huan, "We also want to go up the mountain to gather herbs."

Ning Huan looked at the four little ones with some surprise: "You also want to go to the mountain to gather herbs?"

She immediately realized what was happening and said, "No, it's too dangerous up in the mountains. There are wild animals in there!"

Ning Huan didn't want the four little ones to go up the mountain for any other reason than that she hadn't figured out if there were any dangers in the mountains. She was afraid that if the four little ones encountered an accident on the mountain, she wouldn't be able to take care of them.

But Xiao Sanbao and Xiao Erbao had always wanted to go up the mountain to see it, and when they heard that Ning Huan could earn money by collecting herbs on the mountain, they wanted to try it even more.

The two little ones looked at each other, then said to Ning Huan, "Mom, please take us up the mountain. We want to go with you to see it too."

Xiao Erbao and Xiao Sanbao are the most clever of the four little ones; they know that Ning Huan is not the same as before.

I'm not as afraid of her as before, so I'm trying to be affectionate with my mother.

Ning Huan was quite taken with this. Seeing the two adorable little ones begging her to go up the mountain, she said helplessly, "Alright then, you can come up the mountain with me tomorrow. But there's one thing: you're not allowed to run around."

The four little ones cheered happily when they heard Ning Huan agree.

The four little ones hugged Ning Huan and said, "Mommy is so good!"

Pang was surprised that the four little ones were so close to Ning Huan. Ning Liang was also a little incredulous. Seeing how happy the four little ones were, he pretended to be jealous and said, "You four little ones are so happy. It's just going up the mountain. Your uncle will take you there too."

Little Erbao shook his head and said, "Uncle, will you be able to gather herbs when you go up the mountain?"

This question stumped Ning Liang, who scratched his head and remained silent.

During dinner that evening, Zhou Jing'an overheard the four little ones excitedly talking about their trip to the mountain the next day. He asked Ning Huan, "Are you taking the little ones to the mountain tomorrow?"

Ning Huan nodded: "Yes, I saw that they really wanted to go, so I agreed to take them along."

Zhou Jing'an asked worriedly, "It's dangerous up in the mountain. Can you keep an eye on them?"

Just as Ning Huan was about to speak, Xiao Sanbao and Xiao Erbao quickly said, "Daddy, we promised Mom we wouldn't run around anymore."

"Yes, yes, we promised to go with Mom to gather herbs in the mountains, we'll be back soon!"

Hearing what the two little ones said, Zhou Jing'an stopped talking.

He looked at Ning Huan, feeling inexplicably at ease.

I don't know when it started, but Ning Huan seems to have become more reliable.

In the past, I wouldn't have felt at ease leaving her and her four little ones at home, let alone going up the mountain.

Now, hearing that Ning Huan was going to take the four little ones to the mountain, he didn't feel worried at all.

On the contrary, they believed that Ning Huan could take good care of them.

That evening, Ning Huan showed the fabric she had bought in town to the four little ones and Zhou Jing'an. The four little ones were very happy to see the beautiful fabric.

Little Sibao exclaimed in surprise.

She had never seen such beautiful fabric before; the clothes she was wearing were cut from the clothes her three older brothers had outgrown.

Pang said with a smile, "These fabrics were all bought by your mother from town to make new clothes for you!"

Zhou Jing'an noticed that the fabrics were all for the four little dumplings and his own, but not for Ning Huan.

He asked in confusion, "Why isn't there any of your fabric?"

Ning Huan said, "I didn't buy any for myself. I've lost a little weight recently, and I think I might continue to lose weight. If I buy new fabric now, the clothes I make won't be able to wear. That would be too wasteful, so I won't buy any for now."

"Let's buy new clothes together after I've completely lost weight."

Hearing this, Zhou Jing'an knew that Ning Huan was right, but he still felt a little uneasy.

He remembered that there were still gifts his classmates had brought him during the day in the courtyard, and he figured there must be some fabric in them. So he said to Ning Huan, "There might be some fabric in the box in the courtyard. Take it out and make a couple of outfits. You bought new fabric for all of us, but you didn't buy any for yourself. How can that be?"

Ning Huan was taken aback, not expecting Zhou Jing'an to actually think of her.

Hearing what her daughter and son-in-law said, Mrs. Pang couldn't help but feel happy.

My daughter is starting to take care of the family, earns money, and is good to her husband and children. Her son-in-law is also starting to consider her feelings. Isn't life getting better and better?

Thinking of this, Madam Pang happily took the four little ones out, wanting to give her daughter and son-in-law some space alone.

By the time Ning Huan realized what was happening, only she and Zhou Jing'an were left in the room.

Zhou Jing'an hesitated for a moment, then said to her, "You've worked hard these past two days."

Ning Huan waved her hand and said, "It's nothing. It was something we agreed on before. I'll find a doctor to treat your illness, and once you're better, we'll get a divorce."

For some reason, Zhou Jing'an felt a little uncomfortable when he heard the words "divorce".

But he still forced himself to nod.

Then Ning Huan seemed to remember something: "Oh, right, I have something I want to tell you."

Zhou Jing'an assumed she had changed her mind about the divorce, so he nodded and asked, "What happened?"

"The manager I invited last time told me something, and I've thought about it a lot, so I feel I should tell you."

Not hearing what he wanted to hear, Zhou Jing'an asked somewhat dejectedly, "Well, go ahead and say it."

Ning Huan was actually talking about Zhou Jing'an's poisoning. Now that she was certain that it wasn't the original owner of this body who poisoned Zhou Jing'an, and considering what Zhou Jing'an said to his friend today, it was very likely that someone from the academy poisoned him.

Thinking of this, Ning Huan said, "Last time, Manager Si told me that besides your injury, the most important problem with your body is that you have been poisoned."

Upon hearing this, Zhou Jing'an's expression changed instantly. He frowned and asked, "Am I poisoned?"

Ning Huan nodded and said, "Yes, this poison is colorless and odorless, and it will weaken your body without you even realizing it. Manager Si said that this poison is very peculiar, and even if a doctor takes your pulse, he will not be able to detect that you have been poisoned for a while."
