Chapter 139 Sleeping with Grandma Instead of Mother

Seeing that Madam Pang was so angry, Ning Huan handed the fruit she was holding to Madam Pang and comforted her, "Mother, don't be angry. At worst, we can just stop having anything to do with her in the future."

"Let's ignore her. If we can't afford to mess with her, can't we at least avoid her?"

After so much time, Ning Huan has come to understand that some people are deliberately causing trouble and like to stir things up.

Avoid it if you can. After a while, you'll find it's pointless and stop bothering you.

However, there are some people who are specifically targeting you, wanting to cause you trouble and make you unhappy. When faced with such people, Ning Huan doesn't avoid them but chooses to take the initiative, showing no fear whatsoever.

With her beloved daughter's comfort, Madam Pang finally felt a little better. However, as it got dark, she started worrying again and told Ning Huan and Zhou Jing'an to go and rest.

Knowing that Ning Huan, Zhou Jing'an, and their four little ones had been traveling all day, Pang prepared hot water for them so they could wash up and rest.

After Ning Huan finished bathing the four little ones, she saw Pang secretly moving Zhou Jing'an's bedding into Ning Huan's room.

He was muttering something to himself: "That kid Ning Liang is really ignorant. How could a half-grown boy understand these things?"

"I see my son-in-law's leg injury is almost healed, so why can't we rest in the same bed?"

Ning Huan quickly called out to Yao Shi, "Mother, what are you doing?"

Madam Pang was startled by Ning Huan's shout: "You child, why are you shouting so loudly? You scared your mother!"

Ning Huan scratched her head, a little embarrassed, and said, "I didn't expect you to be so startled. Besides, Mother, what are you doing?"

"Why did you bring out your husband's bedding? Isn't he supposed to continue sleeping in Ningliang's room tonight?"

Hearing this, Madam Pang said reproachfully, "You child, you're already a mother of four, how come you still push your husband to sleep in another room?"

Then she whispered, "Your relationship with your son-in-law is still unstable. This is the time for him to strengthen your bond. So naturally, you two should sleep together."

“You can’t go wrong by listening to your mother. Your silly little brother doesn’t understand these things. I know you’re embarrassed to say it, so I’ll bring your son-in-law’s bedding in for you right now.”

Ning Huan felt utterly helpless upon hearing Pang's words. Seeing Pang carrying bedding and heading towards her room, she hurriedly followed to try and stop her.

As soon as she entered the house, before Ning Huan could even speak, the four little ones crowded around her, saying, "Mommy, I want to sleep with you tonight."

"Mom, me too. I don't want to sleep with my uncle. I want to sleep with you."

Upon hearing what the four little ones said, Pang was greatly alarmed and quickly said, "That won't do!"

The four little ones asked in confusion, "Grandma, why can't we rest with Mommy?"

Pang said with a smile, "Of course it's because it's your first time visiting Grandma's house. Grandma wants to get closer to you. How about you sleep with me tonight?"

But the four little ones weren't having any of it. They shook their heads and said, "Grandma, we don't want to sleep with you. We just want to sleep with Mommy."

Hearing this, Madam Pang was extremely anxious: "You should sleep with your grandmother. Your mother and father will sleep in the same room tonight. If you come over, there won't be enough room for you to sleep."

The four little ones said, "That's alright. Daddy and Uncle can sleep together. We'll sleep with Mommy, then we can fall asleep."

Madam Pang was at a loss for words: "How can that be? Your parents must sleep together."

At this moment, the little boy asked in confusion, "Why? Don't Mom and Dad sleep together at home?"

Upon hearing this, Madam Pang was stunned for a moment, then she recovered and said to the four little ones, "From now on, your father and mother will be sleeping together."

"Listen to Grandma, only when Mom and Dad sleep together will their relationship get better and better, and they will love each other and not quarrel."

Upon hearing this, Da Bao quickly said, "Grandma, then I'll sleep with you tonight. I'll save my spot for Mom and Dad."

Then he said to his two younger children, "Tonight we're all sleeping with Grandma. We can't compete with Daddy for Mommy's attention, understand?"

The three little ones nodded, seemingly understanding but not quite.

Pang looked at Da Bao with satisfaction, but was surprised. The child was young, but very intelligent.

The younger child understood what the older child meant: only when their parents' relationship was good would they stay together and not separate.

That way, they will always have a mother and a home.

The younger two children didn't understand, but they knew that the older child was definitely right to do so.

The thought of not being able to rest with my mother tonight made me incredibly sad.

Ning Huan scratched her head. The four little ones who were originally on her side had now run off with Pang Shi.

She quickly said to Madam Pang, "Mother, really, it's not necessary. Let Zhou Jing'an rest in Ning Liang's room tonight."

“His leg is injured. We are both lying in the same bed. If I fall asleep and accidentally touch his leg and hurt his wound, that would be bad.”

"Now is the critical time for my husband's leg injury to recover. I must not let my actions prevent his leg from recovering properly, otherwise he will miss next year's imperial examination."

Upon hearing this, Pang stopped saying anything more, but he still felt that something was not quite right.

The four little ones quickly hugged Ning Huan and said, "Mommy, since Daddy can't sleep with you, we'll stay with you tonight."

Then he brought his own bedding and laid it next to Ning Huan's bedding.

Ning Liang had just finished bathing Zhou Jing'an and came out. He was puzzled to find that Zhou Jing'an's bedding was missing.

She ran over to Ning Huan to ask what was going on, and saw Pang Shi holding Zhou Jing'an's bedding in the room.

He stepped forward and asked curiously, "Mother, why are you carrying my brother-in-law's bedding? Are you suggesting he stay in this room tonight?"

Strange, didn't his sister just tell him during the day that her brother-in-law's leg injury meant he could only sleep in bed by himself? If the two of them were to live together, then Ning Huan would definitely have to sleep on the floor.

If my sister isn't my most precious child, how could I bear to let her sleep on the floor?

Before he could even ask, Pang rolled her eyes at him and threw the bedding at him, saying, "Take it back and make a proper bed for your brother-in-law."

Then she turned around, pulled Ning Huan to the edge of the yard, and asked in a low voice, "Tell your mother the truth, did you and your son-in-law have a fight?"
