Chapter 118 Can't Lift

Yao's words made Pang unable to hold back any longer.

She rushed forward and shielded Ning Huan behind her: "Yao, watch your words. After all, her mother is still here. How can she be called an unfilial in-law? Tell me!"

Seeing this, Madam Yao quickly stepped back and said, "Mother-in-law, please don't speak so harshly. I didn't say anything wrong, did I?"

Liu chimed in, "My mother is right. Ning Huan, as a daughter-in-law, hunted such a big wild boar. Shouldn't she share some with her mother-in-law?"

Someone nearby, disapproving, said, "It's not like we're just sharing a little bit. Didn't Yao just say she was going to take the wild boar home?"

This person is Aunt Xiufen, who doesn't get along with Wang Guihua. She heard that Wang Guihua went to Zhou Jing'an's house with Yao Shi, so she came to see what was going on.

Wang Guihua said from the side, "Xiufen, do you think you're used to getting along with me? Don't you know what kind of occasion this is? We're talking about wild boar meat, don't add to the trouble."

Then Wang Guihua said to the villagers who were watching the commotion, "Yao just said that she's taking this wild boar meat home, and she can share some with us sisters!"

Hearing this, the villagers nearby were a little envious: "Wow, is this for real? Then this pork is free for us?"

"Of course it's free!"

Ning Huan squinted at the people in the courtyard, and said coldly to Yao Shi, "No one is going to take this wild boar meat away today."

As soon as he finished speaking, Madam Yao became displeased.

What does "no one can take it away" mean? Doesn't that mean that even she, as the mother-in-law, can't touch it?

Yao said arrogantly, "Ning Huan, what do you mean by that? Do you mean I can't even take the meat from my son's house?"

Ning Huan looked at her and said with a faint smile, "Mother, you're right. If it were your son's meat, of course you could take it. But today, this wild boar meat was brought back by my younger brother Ning Liang and me together."

"Don't even mention you taking it; even if my husband came and wanted to touch a piece of this meat, he would have to get my permission first."

Madam Yao spat and said, "Ning Huan, I didn't discipline you much before because I didn't want to cause chaos in the house and make others think that I, as your mother-in-law, was bullying you. But you can't take my leniency towards you as me being afraid to discipline you!"

She continued, "Since you married my son, he's been unhappy in every way, and now he's even badly injured. You, woman, you probably married into our Zhou family just to bring us trouble!"

Ning Huan wasn't angry at what Yao had said, and simply said:

"Mother, how could I be so fortunate as to have you personally discipline me? I think you should spend more time disciplining my second sister, otherwise what if she causes trouble again..."

Upon hearing Ning Huan mention Zhou Yan, Yao Shi immediately flew into a rage: "Are you accusing me of not disciplining my own daughter?"

Ning Huan shook her head: "Mom, that's not what I meant. Don't overthink it."

Yao snorted coldly, "Whether you mean it or not, I'm taking this wild boar today."

Seeing that Yao was not hiding anything and expressed her meaning so frankly.

Ning Huan chuckled and then said, "I've already said, no one can take this wild boar away. Mother, this isn't a wild boar that your son hunted, so even if you wanted to take it, you couldn't."

Hearing this, Yao was so angry that her face almost contorted. Normally, she wouldn't bother arguing with this little bitch; she would just take it directly.

The wild boar was so fat and large that even she and Liu Shi couldn't lift it, let alone by herself.

Seeing that Yao seemed about to say something more, Pang suddenly stood up from behind and cursed, "Yao, I advise you not to go too far. If you dare to touch the wild boar that my son and daughter brought back today, see how I teach you a lesson!"

Upon hearing this, Yao wanted to start a fight with Pang, but Ning Huan suddenly pulled Ning Liang aside and said aggrievedly, "Mother, it's not that I don't want to give it to you, but this wild boar was obtained at the cost of my brother's life. How can I just give it to you like this!"

Hearing this, Yang from next door chimed in, "That's right! This wild boar is so big, how difficult it must have been to bring it back alive! Jing'an's wife told me that she and her brother almost lost their lives!"

Upon hearing this, the villagers immediately began to discuss, "Is hunting that dangerous? I thought the wild boar had died before Jing'an's wife brought it back!"

"No way! If the prey is dead, the meat won't be fresh, and it might even be poisonous. It's absolutely inedible!"

"Goodness gracious! How did Jing'an's wife and her brother manage to subdue such a huge wild boar?!"

"It was so difficult, these two siblings almost lost their lives, and Yao still wanted to take advantage of them."

"Mrs. Yao has always been like this; she hasn't even disciplined her own children properly. Look at her second daughter..."

Hearing what the villagers were saying, Yao was so angry that she wanted to curse them out, but then she remembered what Zhou Dashan had said: it was best not to cause any more trouble recently.

So she said resentfully, "Third son's wife, one day I'll show you how powerful I am as a mother-in-law."

However, although Yao left, the villagers who had come to watch the spectacle remained.

They were still eyeing the wild boar meat that Ning Huan had brought back. Since Yao had said she would give them the meat for free, Ning Huan would probably give it to them too.

After all, the wild boar was so big and fat that Zhou Jing'an's family couldn't possibly finish it.

Seeing that Yao was gone, Wang Guihua, who had been hoping to get some pork by associating with her, turned her attention to Ning Huan.

She smiled and leaned closer, saying, "Jing'an's wife, your wild boar is so big! It looks really good."

Ning Huan didn't respond to her words, but just watched her quietly.

Wang Guihua said to herself, "But this pig you caught is so big, Jing'an's wife, your family probably can't finish it all. Why don't you take it out and share it with your aunt? It would be a way of helping your family out."

Pang understood what Wang Guihua meant and was about to step forward and say a few words to her.

Ning Huan stopped Pang Shi, then said with a smile, "Aunt Guihua is right, our family really can't finish all this meat. Of course I can take it out and share it with everyone."

Hearing this, Wang Guihua laughed happily: "Oh, Jing'an's wife, you have such a kind heart!"

Then Ning Huan brought out a stool from the kitchen, placed a cutting board on it, and quickly removed the wild boar's hair and rinsed it clean with water.
