Aunt Xiufen's mouth went off like a machine gun: "Don't think the villagers don't know what you're up to. Now that your son's injury has healed, you come here pretending to care about him. How disgusting!"
When Yao saw Chen Xiufen scolding her in front of so many people in the village, her pent-up resentment finally exploded.
She pointed at Aunt Xiufen's nose and scolded, "Chen Xiufen, you're meddling in other people's business. What does our Zhou family's affairs have to do with you? Why are you making such a fuss?"
"Whether I kicked my son out or brought him back, he's still my son, and I'm his mother. I should treat him however I want. He has to put up with it!"
She became increasingly agitated as she spoke, even standing up abruptly: "Who do you think you are, daring to talk to me like that? When my son becomes a high-ranking official, you won't even be worthy to carry my shoes!"
The oxcart was already unstable, and Yao was standing on it, swaying back and forth. She almost fell over.
Ning Huan looked at Yao Shi, worried that she might fall and hurt Zhou Jing'an's leg, which had just undergone surgery. Zhou Jing'an's leg bone had just been realigned, and if it were bumped, it could easily shift again, so she had to be extra careful.
Seeing that Yao Shi and Aunt Xiufen were arguing heatedly and without any rationality, she looked helplessly at Zhou Dashan beside her: "Dad, this scene is too chaotic. You should take Mom away."
Zhou Dashan didn't think Ning Huan was wrong about anything, and nodded in agreement, "Okay."
As he spoke, he reached out to pull Yao Shi, wanting to get off the bus with her. But unexpectedly, she slapped Zhou Dashan's hand aside.
With her hands on her hips, Yao cursed at Ning Huan, "You little bitch, don't think you can act like a lawless person just because my son said a few words in your defense. I've tolerated you for a long time and just let it go. Don't try to boss me around!"
"You really think you can call the shots just because you married my son? Let me tell you, I am Zhou Jing'an's mother, and even he has to listen to me. Even if he were lying here, he would still have to respond if I called him."
Seeing Yao's arrogant demeanor, Ning Huan might have argued with her under normal circumstances.
But Ning Huan was too tired today, and she was only managing to get Zhou Jing'an home despite her exhaustion. She said impatiently and with a hint of anger, "Do you even know that the person lying here is your son? Do you know that he just had surgery on his leg and hasn't fully recovered yet?"
"If you lose your balance and accidentally bump his leg, all your efforts these past few days will be wasted, and his leg treatment will be for nothing!"
Yao paused for a moment, but then glared at him and cursed, "What right do you have to point fingers at me like that? Would I deliberately harm my own son?!"
Seeing that she could no longer communicate with Yao, Ning Huan turned to Zhou Dashan and said, "Father, you understand what I mean, right? If you don't want anything to happen to my husband, then you should take Mother out of the carriage."
Although Ning Huan's tone made Zhou Dashan somewhat unhappy, he thought about Zhou Jing'an's leg injury and realized that if his son became successful in the future, he would benefit from it.
So he hurriedly tried to pull Yao out of the car, but Yao still refused to get out: "Let go of me, Zhou Dashan, why are you trying to pull me out of the car? I won't get out!"
"You good-for-nothing! The head of the household is being bossed around by your daughter-in-law. Aren't you ashamed if word gets out?"
Ning Huan frowned and, taking advantage of Zhou Dashan's forceful pulling on Yao Shi, gently pushed her from the side.
Yao was pulled off the car with a sudden, sharp movement, and almost fell flat on her face.
Seeing that Yao had gone downstairs, Ning Huan hurriedly told Zhu Dali to leave quickly.
Yao chased after the oxcart, cursing, "Ning Huan, you little bitch! How dare you push me!"
The village chief sat in the car, his face ashen. He and the village elders beside him looked at Yao Shi and shook their heads indifferently.
This Yao is like a troublemaker; hopefully, she won't spoil the whole Zhou family's business.
However, Yao was still cursing Ning Huan while standing there. Aunt Xiufen, who was standing to the side, couldn't stand it anymore and said, "Yao, why are you cursing her? Don't you know what kind of person you are?"
"You don't even deserve to be Jing'an's mother. Even his wife knows how to care for him and worry about his leg injury, but you, his own mother, don't care at all!"
Aunt Xiufen sighed helplessly at the villagers beside her: "To be honest, Jing'an's life is really hard. He's so unlucky to have such a mother!"
The villagers of Zhou'ai nodded in agreement and discussed among themselves, saying, "Xiufen is right. This Yao family is too good at causing trouble. They're always up to no good."
"Even if Jing'an becomes a high-ranking official in the future, with a troublesome mother like Yao, I don't think he'll be in the limelight for long."
"That's why he's so unlucky. He must have had terrible luck for hundreds of lifetimes to end up with a mother like that..."
Hearing the crowd's comments, Yao became even more enraged. She raised her hand and charged towards Aunt Xiufen, yelling, "You foul-mouthed old hag, I'll tear your mouth apart!"
Aunt Xiufen wasn't afraid of Yao Shi's insults, nor was she afraid of fighting. She raised her hand and slapped Yao Shi across the face. Then she forced Yao Shi to the ground, straddled her, and beat her.
At first, Yao was able to fight back, but later she could only protect her face.
Zhou Dashan, standing to the side, couldn't just stand by and watch his wife being beaten like that, so he quickly stepped forward to break up the fight. However, he wasn't very enthusiastic; Yao Shi had been making a fuss about him lately, and he had long since grown to dislike her.
In addition, Yao's actions today caused a scene from the village to the town, resulting in him receiving countless disdainful looks from the village chief!
He was overjoyed to see someone helping him deal with the lawless Yao family.
The surrounding villagers, seeing the two men fighting, dared not intervene. A couple who tried to break them up were merely going through the motions.
Yao was beaten and sat on the ground, wailing loudly. Aunt Xiufen looked at her, spat, and turned away.
In fact, she didn't hit Yao with much force at all; it was just that her shouts were loud and frightening.
After all, Yao is Zhou Jing'an's biological mother. If the mother and son have a serious talk in the future and Zhou Jing'an gets angry, then he will have offended someone.
The four little ones stood expectantly at the door, gazing towards the village entrance, eagerly awaiting Ning Huan and Zhou Jing'an's return.
Finally, the oxcart gradually brought Ning Huan and Zhou Jing'an into view.
Da Bao rushed over to greet her: "Mom, you're back!"
The two little ones exclaimed happily, "Great! Daddy's back, and Mommy's back too!"
The four little ones were so excited that they cried.
After returning home, Ning Liang and Zhu Dali carried the sleeping Zhou Jing'an back into the house.
