Chapter 127: Profits

Chapter 127: Profits

All the dancers had removed their outer coats, revealing their alluring, radiant skin.

As soon as Governor Fang raised his head, he was captivated and couldn't look away. Although he didn't show it on his face, he subconsciously felt quite satisfied with the performance of the Prefect of Huaizhou.

Although this Prefect Wei has only recently been promoted, he is quite shrewd and capable.

As soon as the music started, the dancers moved their feet slightly, their movements light and graceful, their long sleeves fluttering, exuding indescribable charm.

Governor Wei rose, raised his wine cup, and began to toast those in power and influence, including local gentry and his colleagues in officialdom.

As the dance ended, Governor Wei returned just as he finished toasting everyone.

As he passed by a group of dancers, his eyes flickered, and he grabbed Yuan Siyin's slender wrist and led her to the governor at the head of the table: "Serve the governor well. If you serve him well, he might be pleased and take you back."

Upon hearing this, everyone sitting down laughed knowingly, and their gazes toward the dozen or so dancers became even more unrestrained.

Yuan Siyin chuckled softly, offering no resistance. She sat down comfortably next to the middle-aged man, her composure making it seem as if she were being served rather than being served.

The governor was used to people who fawned over him, so he found it novel to see someone so aloof and was willing to fawn over her.

"Oh, where did Lord Wei find this beauty? She's even wearing a veil, so mysterious!"

"That's right, why not unveil yourself? Are you shy?"

Someone below raised their glass and made a taunting remark.

Yuan Siyin gave a cold laugh, her raven-feather-like eyelashes drooping slightly, and she did not reply.

Dog Dengxi, I'm afraid you'll find out I'm your father.

"Could it be that we can't see it, and only Lord Fang can?"

"Stop keeping us in suspense, adults! Pick them so we can share in the joy and feast our eyes!"

Lord Fang, flattered and somewhat smug, coughed and used his fingers to lift Yuan Siyin's chin through her veil.

Upon seeing this, the people below immediately erupted in a chorus of malicious snorts.

Yuan Siyin stepped back slightly, gently brushing his hand away with two soft, boneless fingers. "Why is my lord in such a hurry? Why not drink some wine to warm yourself up?"

The woman's hands were as delicate as fine mutton fat jade, which stirred the man's heart. His two rosy lips parted and he agreed to whatever she said, and he picked up the wine glass and took a sip.

Yuan Siyin chuckled softly, her long eyes curving upwards, full of charm.

With its filthy state, it's like a typical hanged ghost putting on makeup and embellishing itself, utterly shameless.

"Are you satisfied, sir?"

Governor Wei leaned down and whispered in his ear, his smile brighter than any flower.

Governor Fang's eyes were glued to Yuan Siyin. Only after being interrupted did he come back to his senses and nod seriously, saying, "Not bad."

"I still have some filial piety gifts to offer... I hope you will do me a favor."

As he spoke, he slipped two gold bars into the man's sleeve.

The governor rolled up his sleeves without making a sound, and a smile finally appeared on his face: "Of course, the military pay and provisions have already been escorted out of the capital and are on their way to Huaizhou. They will be transported by water, so I will have to trouble you, Lord Wei."

That's why they agreed to give him the job.

The governor was overjoyed, but knowing the matter was not yet settled, he dared not relax for a moment and continued to probe, "What trouble you have? It's all thanks to your kindness, sir. It's just that I couldn't very well stop the escorting soldiers..."

The governor smiled knowingly, stroked his stubble, took out a letter he had written long ago from his pocket, placed it on the table, and pushed it in front of him.

Needless to say, everyone knows what's going on. How could someone who's in that position not be making a living off others?
