Chapter 337: Farewell

Chapter 337: Farewell

Ziyuan first led Taxue out. Perhaps it had been a while since she had ridden it out for a walk, Yuan Siyin had the illusion that it had gotten fat.

The group mounted their horses one after another. Although Yuan Fuqing didn't ride horses much on a regular basis, his horsemanship was taught by the original owner of the body, so it was naturally quite good.

After seeing the group off at the gate, Ziyuan and Hongxiu returned to the mansion to take care of things. As they walked to the corner of the corridor, they heard several outer maids talking together behind the rockery.

"The young master has also left, and the manor is becoming increasingly deserted."

"Who says otherwise? We servants are alright, we get our monthly pay and serve our masters. It's just that we don't know what the young lady is thinking, that she would actually send the young master to the northern border."

The one speaking was a maid who used to serve tea and water in Yuanfuqing Courtyard.

"Miss must be feeling bad too, after all, they are brothers who grew up together."

"Putting everything else aside, I just hope she doesn't go back to being the difficult person she used to be."

The group nodded in unison, expressing their agreement.

Zi Yuan stopped and frowned, scolding from afar, "What time is it? Don't you know your duties? Do you want to punish them one by one before you feel at ease?"

Zi Yuan handled all the affairs of the mansion, big and small, and in the eyes of the servants, she was equivalent to a manager, only one rank below her master. Knowing that they were in the wrong, the servants immediately dispersed and went about their own business.

Although they had dismissed the gossipers, it didn't mean that the two of them hadn't been thinking about the matter.

As she walked, she sighed unconsciously. Hearing this, Hongxiu couldn't help but sigh as well, "What will happen to our young lady?"

"This was Miss's own decision. Besides, Miss is decisive and may have other plans."

As for what her plans are, Zi Yuan can neither figure it out nor guess.

Not only were others puzzled, but she herself was also puzzled as to why the young master would be sent to the northern border to suffer.

"Alright, let's not talk about it anymore. The weather is nice today, we should take the books out of the storeroom to air them out and put them away in the library."

"Alright, Miss probably won't be coming back during the day. I'll go over and lend a hand."

After the two made their agreement, they turned and headed towards the storeroom. Ziyuan took out her key and opened the door when she saw a person sitting on a box with their back to them, swinging their legs listlessly. They held a book in one hand and casually played with their neatly styled maid's bun in the other.

"Who are you!" Zi Yuan frowned rudely.

There was only one key to the storeroom. The young lady trusted her to manage the affairs of the mansion, so she always kept the key with her and never let it out of her sight. How could anyone have gotten in?

The girl turned around with delight at the sound and jumped off the box: "Sister Ziyuan, Sister Hongxiu, you've finally come! I've been locked up in here for quite a while."

"Wutong?"

Because it was backlit, Zi Yuan scrutinized them for a while before slowly speaking with a cold tone, "What, did the bamboo rats dart into the warehouse this time?"

Wutong put down her book, her eyes wide, and unconsciously clapped her hands: "Sister Ziyuan is so smart, she guessed everything I wanted to say."

"Who exactly are you? What are your intentions in infiltrating the Yuan residence? And where did you get the key to the storeroom? Confess now!"

Wutong scratched her head and chuckled twice in a cute way, then playfully stuck out her tongue: "Actually, it's nothing much, don't worry, sisters."

Hongxiu gritted her teeth and suddenly stepped forward: "Did you do something about Miss's matter?"

"That's right. If Yuan Siyin hadn't coughed up blood, wouldn't all my hard work have been for nothing?"

Wutong shrugged, readily admitting it.
