Chapter 426: I Want You

Chapter 426: I Want You

Yuan Siyin couldn't help but breathe a sigh of relief, but the next second Nalan Yujie suddenly chuckled softly: "You don't think I've gone crazy, do you?"

Shh—just kidding, did you think it was convincing?

Nalan Yujie curled a strand of hair and played with it elegantly between her fingers, her expression as composed as if she were in a pristine palace, not a prison.

"I'm sorry, but it's really interesting to watch you gradually reveal the expression I expected."

Yuan Siyin put away the scroll, her expression unchanged. "It's good that you're not crazy."

Nalan Yujie took out a lily of the valley flower from her sleeve, its leaves withered and yellowed beyond recognition, and gently sniffed it. "I know what you want to ask. Shh, listen to me first."

He protected you so well, he wouldn't even let you lose a single feather, and he foolishly dreamed of being with you forever, so he locked me up in this place where I would never see the light of day, thinking that this way I would be safe and sound.

Although there were some minor hiccups, my plan was never disrupted from beginning to end.

Do you understand what I mean, you delicate little sparrow?

After saying that, she tossed the lily of the valley out, and it landed right at Yuan Siyin's feet.

A tiny crack, formed somewhere overhead due to its age, allowed a beam of light to filter through, illuminating the dust motes floating in the air and also the lily of the valley.

Yuan Siyin lowered her eyes, and was about to bend down to pick up the lily of the valley when her collar was grabbed from behind. Then a cold and pleasant voice came from above her head: "We agreed to meet tomorrow. I really want to see her."

Yu Shiyan used a little force to lift her up and pull her into his arms, pressing his large hand against the back of her head to prevent her from turning around.

Nalan Yujie glanced at the two of them, then leaned leisurely against the iron railing, her head half-lowered, and hummed a folk song unique to the northern frontier: "Birds and sparrows do not fly when times are tough—all fluttering down..."

..."

Even after being dragged out of the prison by Yu Shiyan, Yuan Siyin was still in shock.

"What do you think my plan is? To break you up? Wrong."

I want to reunite you, but only by having a brief moment of possession followed by complete loss can I truly crush all hope.

Don't you think this is more interesting than puppet shows and imitations?

"What's wrong?" Yu Shiyan lowered his eyes and gently stroked the stray strands of hair at her temples.

Yuan Siyin snapped out of her daze, managing a pale smile as she tried to banish the words Nalan Yujie had whispered to her.

But there was nothing she could do; those words followed her thoughts like a shadow, impossible to escape or shake off.

She decided not to think about anything, but simply stood on tiptoe, wrapped her arms around Yu Shiyan's neck, rested her chin on his shoulder, and called out in a somewhat muffled voice, "Yu Shiyan."

"I'm here. Are you feeling unwell?"

Yu Shiyan put his arm around her waist and patted her back gently, as if soothing a child: "Shall I take you back to your palace to rest?"

"Yu Shiyan, I like you."

Yu Shiyan's tall and slender figure paused, and he pursed his lips as if somewhat surprised, then hugged her even tighter: "What did she tell you?"

"I like you." Yuan Siyin remained silent, stubbornly repeating the same sentence.

"Don't take anything she says to heart. I'll take care of everything."

Yuan Siyin raised her watery eyes and gently bit her lip with her pearly teeth, "Yu Shiyan, I want you."

Yu Shiyan was stroking her hair when he heard this, but he froze completely.

Yuan Siyin sniffed, wiped away her tears when he wasn't looking, and then pulled him toward the side hall.
