Chapter 56: One wrong step leads to another
A dull ache shot through my temples, as if countless ants were gnawing at my reason. My mind went blank, and suddenly a thunderbolt struck, the pain so intense it almost made me cry out.
Fine beads of sweat appeared on Yu Shiyan's forehead, and his face was pale, but he gritted his teeth and remained silent.
Although the Seventh Prince was no longer so averse to him, he clearly didn't want him to linger.
So Liu Huai finished packing and left on his own, even thoughtfully closing the door behind him, without noticing anything unusual about him.
After he left, Yu Shiyan felt as if all his strength had been drained away, and he collapsed onto the couch.
Zhong Heng kept a close eye on things, and when he saw that his lord was not in a good condition, he immediately landed lightly on the ground and went into the house.
Yu Shiyan waited for a long time but Zhong Heng did not come to help him.
He said somewhat impatiently, "Why aren't you coming over?"
Zhong Heng tentatively took two steps forward.
"What are you doing standing so far away? Do you think I'm going to eat someone?"
Zhong Heng was taken aback, then shook his head: "No, you're stupid enough to hit people."
I wonder when His Highness will regain his memories.
He couldn't help but feel a little annoyed with Yuan Siyin.
It's all her fault for saying "Your Highness is stupid, Your Highness is stupid" all the time without any restraint, and he's gotten used to it too.
But His Highness is still a bit slow; it's alright, he won't remember.
Yu Shiyan laughed in exasperation: "Zhong Heng, you've become increasingly audacious these past few days while following her around."
He struggled to sit up, supporting himself with his elbows. His body ached in waves, yet he remained as straight as a cedar tree.
Zhong Heng was startled and immediately kowtowed to beg for forgiveness, "Your Highness, please forgive me!"
"Get up."
A faint, indifferent smile played on his lips, and the expression on his pale face was as chilling as a biting wind, sending a shiver down one's spine.
"It's good that Your Highness has recovered, but... do you still remember what happened before?"
"Um."
As soon as he finished speaking, he slowly stood up, his steps weak and unsteady.
Upon seeing this, Zhong Heng quickly got up and strode forward to help him sit down at the simple table.
"Has there been any movement in the last few days?"
Yu Shiyan coughed violently, his gaze icy and cold, the chill of which seemed to freeze one's bones, and the surrounding air seemed to thin out instantly.
"The person has already settled in the capital, but said nothing in the letter, which suggests that he has other plans."
What are Your Highness's plans?
Yu Shiyan took out the red bean hairpin from his pocket and slowly stroked the sharp end with his pale fingertips.
When will the palace hold its autumn hunting festival?
"The day after tomorrow."
"In that case, you may make the arrangements."
Seeing his hesitation, Yu Shiyan couldn't help but frown: "What's the difficulty?"
"The day after tomorrow... the Emperor ordered that a residence be established outside the palace, in the suburbs of the city."
Yu Shiyan was stunned for a moment, then lowered his head, making it impossible to discern his feelings.
Although it was expected, I still felt inexplicably disappointed.
Seeing that he was silent, Zhong Heng simply stood quietly to the side, waiting for his instructions.
"It's alright, just send the message to him."
After a few breaths, he raised his head again, his dark eyes becoming even more somber.
From now on, it will only get harder and harder; one wrong step will lead to a series of mistakes.
Many things need to be planned for in advance.
"Seventh Prince—"
Bai Tu gently knocked on the door.
Zhong Heng cupped his hands in greeting and concealed himself.
"Come in."
Yu Shiyan steadied himself and looked at the woman who had just entered.
"What is it?"
"Her Majesty the Empress has summoned you to come over."
Trouble has indeed come knocking.
Yu Shiyan nodded noncommittally and stood up, while Bai Tu obediently followed behind him.
