Chapter 84: Awake

Chapter 84: Awake

"She's awake! Miss is awake!"

Yuan Siyin stared blankly at the roof beam, her eyes vacant.

A string of tears unexpectedly streamed down, catching Ziyuan and Hongxiu off guard.

"Why did you cry as soon as you woke up? Quickly, bring me a handkerchief. The imperial physician instructed that it must not get wet, or it will leave a scar later."

Upon hearing the sound, Yuan Fuqing quickly pushed open the door and rushed in, anxiously calling out to her.

"My sister is awake?! Has my sister woken up?"

Yuan Siyin responded weakly, feeling as if her throat had been torn apart.

Unable to make a sound for a long time, she barely managed to raise her arm to wave to Yuan Fuqing, only to find that she was covered in bandages.

As her thoughts slowly returned, recalling the fire that day, Yuan Siyin roughly guessed what had happened.

So she has now been honored to be promoted to Munai-yin?

"My son, my son is awake?"

The Empress Dowager seemed to have just been woken up; her eyes were bloodshot, and the hair at her temples was a little messy. She was quickly helped up by Jade.

Zi Yuan carefully helped Yuan Siyin up and fed her a couple of sips of water, and only then did she feel like she had come back to life.

"Aunt, Yin'er is alright... cough cough, where is Madam Qi?"

The Empress Dowager's gaze towards her was incredibly complex, a mixture of anger, joy, and resentment.

"Why are you coughing again? Stop talking, Jade, bring a jar of loquat syrup, and also summon the imperial physician who is waiting outside!"

Ziyuan brought over an embroidered stool, and then placed two layers of white fox fur cushions on it before helping the Empress Dowager to sit down.

"Madam Qi, Madam Qi, you heartless girl, you ask about Madam Qi as soon as you wake up, why don't you ask about me?"

The Empress Dowager pointed at Yuan Siyin with exasperation, but fearing she might frighten her, she quickly withdrew her hand and instead tucked the quilt around her.

"Don't worry, Madam Qi is fine. She just inhaled too much smoke and was frightened. She was unconscious for a while but then woke up."

Unlike you, you fool, you tried to save someone but ended up getting yourself killed. You were unconscious for three whole days and almost didn't make it."

As she spoke, the elderly woman, well past fifty, turned her head away and quietly wiped away her tears while embracing Yuan Fu.

Yuan Siyin felt a lump in her throat and wanted to cry even more.

Regardless of whether she is the Empress Dowager or anyone else, she is her aunt, her closest aunt.

Seeing that her eyes were red, Hongxiu quickly stepped forward to interrupt softly, "Miss, you've suffered so much, you mustn't cry now. A scar on your face will last a lifetime."

When the Empress Dowager came to her senses, she realized the seriousness of the matter, so she only talked about the happy things and kept quiet about the rest.

A group of imperial physicians rushed in to take her pulse. Yuan Siyin looked through the curtain and saw the old physician at the head of the group, feeling extremely embarrassed.

It seems like this is the same group of people who showed her the small cut on her hand before.

The Empress Dowager seemed to remember something and added, "They are all imperial physicians from the Imperial Hospital, whom I have seen before."

They keep their mouths shut and won't blurt out everything they see.

The Empress Dowager lowered her voice slightly at the end, her words carrying a strong sense of sternness, which frightened everyone, causing some to shrink back and others to put their hands in their pockets.

"How is it? How long will it take for Yin'er's injuries to heal?"

As soon as he took the pulse, the Empress Dowager asked him questions with a predatory look.

The old doctor felt immense pressure.

"Well, Miss, you are of noble birth. There is nothing wrong with the rest of your body, but the scars on your body will take at least ten days to heal completely. You will need to apply medicine every day."

Isn't a ten-day period short enough?

Surely we won't force him to shorten the timeframe again, will we?

"Is a ten-day period... a bit too short?" the Empress Dowager pondered.

Okay, this is bad news.

The old doctor was sweating profusely.
