Chapter 86: Emaciation

Chapter 86: Emaciation

Yuan Siyin originally intended to wave her hand and kick the person out, but her expression changed immediately upon smelling the aroma of roast chicken.

Si Fangming felt relieved when he saw her abruptly change direction as she tried to shoo him away.

Luckily, he was prepared, otherwise he probably wouldn't have been able to get in today. But he can be said to have had the advantage of being in a good position.

Yuan Siyin happily accepted the oil paper package, but before she could even warm it in her hands, Ziyuan ruthlessly snatched it away.

"Miss, please take your medicine first."

Her grief was so great.

Yuan Siyin sat down listlessly, looking unwilling, but still managed to negotiate with Ziyuan: "How about we don't drink today?"

Si Fangming sat down calmly, casually picked up a handful of melon seeds, and couldn't help but laugh when he saw this: "A bowl of medicine every day seems to have made you thinner."

Yuan Siyin glanced at him listlessly, but said nothing.

When Hongxiu brought in the medicine, the atmosphere in the room became even more subdued.

Yuan Siyin was always very efficient. She closed her eyes, gritted her teeth, and poured the bowl into her mouth. After she finished, Hongxiu hurriedly stuffed candied fruit into her mouth to suppress the bitterness, while holding a spittoon in her hand.

Before long, she was vomiting into the enamel spittoon, her heart, liver, lungs, and whole body feeling bitter. She couldn't even taste the tears she swallowed.

Si Fangming didn't expect her to react so strongly. For a moment, he forgot about eating the melon seeds and paced back and forth outside the screen in a hurry.

Ziyuan couldn't bear to see her suffer like this, so she could only hide far away and wipe her tears. "The imperial physician said that Miss's health has been damaged to the core, and she needs to be properly recuperated."

But I couldn't swallow the medicine at all. I barely managed to get through it, and then I lost my appetite.

"Is there nothing that isn't bitter?"

"This servant doesn't know, but good medicine always tastes bitter." As she spoke, she looked at Yuan Siyin with a pang of heartache in her eyes.

The next day at Juxianlou, the three sat at the table, each with a different expression.

"What? Sister Siyin can't drink her medicine?"

Qi Xinxin slammed her hand on the table, biting her lip, as anxious as an ant on a hot pan.

"What should we do? How about we ask the imperial physician to change the prescription?"

"No, that won't work. What if the effects of the drugs clash?"

She muttered to herself, her words filled with worry.

Yu Shiyan toyed with the white porcelain tea set between her fingertips, her long, thick eyelashes trembling slightly. "So why did General Si invite me here as well?"

"If Prince Mu is unwilling to come, then I have made a mistake in inviting him."

Si Fangming refuted him bluntly and tapped the table.

Upon hearing the commotion, the waiter immediately rushed over with a beaming smile. "Would you like to order?"

"Prepare a complete set of all medicinal dishes from Juxianlou. Look at this list and discard any herbs that are contraindicated or conflicting with the recipe."

Also, make more fruits that stimulate thirst and improve appetite.

After instructing the waiter, Si Fangming let out a long sigh, clearly not in a good mood.

"I remember Sister Siyin has a woman named Hongxiu by her side. Her skills are just as good as those outside. Why do we need you to make this trip?"

"The household has tried all sorts of ways to cook for her, but she just can't eat it. I'm just trying to see if I can get her to eat a little bit."

"You didn't see what she looked like. Getting that medicine down her throat was harder than anything else," Si Fangming said, shrugging helplessly.

Hearing this, Qi Xinxin felt even more guilty and carefully tugged at his sleeve: "Um... I want to go see Sister Siyin, is that alright?"

"It's a good idea, but I'm afraid you won't be able to resist it."

At first, Qi Xinxin couldn't understand what he meant by "can't help it," but when she saw Yuan Siyin looking much thinner, she was so choked up that she couldn't speak.

"What's wrong? You look like you're about to cry."

Yuan Siyin smiled and placed her hand on the back of her hand, but her face was so pale that it was completely bloodless.
