Chapter Ten: Change

Chapter Ten: Change

"Jade..."

"Don't worry, young lady, I won't tell anyone."

Emerald turned around and answered with a smile.

Yuan Yayin:?

She's in a terrible situation now, isn't she?

Looking back, where was the shyness on Yu Shiyan's face?

If she hadn't seen it clearly just now, she would have thought it was her imagination.

Yuan Siyin gripped the whip tightly, finally understanding.

He was getting back at her.

Fine, she'll bear it.

No matter how the male lead treats her, she still clings to him.

"Greetings, young lady. I am the Seventh Prince."

Hongyu, who was waiting outside, smiled and curtsied, first paying her respects to the two masters.

"Has the meal been served yet?"

Jade glanced inside and asked her in a low voice.

"Yes, the Empress Dowager has been waiting for the young lady."

Hongyu nodded, then leaned close to her ear and whispered, "Why is the Seventh Prince here too?"

Jade didn't reply to her, but led Yuan Siyin inside by lifting the gauze curtain.

"Yin'er is here. Please sit down. I have instructed the kitchen to prepare special dishes, all of which are your favorites."

When the Empress Dowager saw her arrive, she immediately dropped her serious expression and waved to her with a beaming smile.

"The Seventh Prince has also come along. Shall we invite him in to dine with us?"

After explaining the situation, Jade respectfully lowered her head and awaited her decision.

The Empress Dowager frowned slightly, casually fiddling with her long, pointed nail guards, clearly not taking the matter to heart: "Seventh Prince? Why is he here? Just tell him I have a headache right now and send him away."

Because of her, her aunt had never been very fond of the Seventh Prince, a fact she was well aware of.

But if she helps Yu Shiyan win over his aunt, perhaps he will change his opinion of her.

A sly glint flashed in Yuan Siyin's eyes, and a smile appeared on her lips as she affectionately took the Empress Dowager's arm: "Aunt, everyone is waiting outside, why don't we let the Seventh Prince in?"

The palace servants all praised you, saying that you treated everyone equally and didn't neglect any of the princes.

The Empress Dowager looked up at her, clearly somewhat surprised: "What's wrong with you today, child? Have you changed your ways?"

Yuan Siyin's smile froze slightly, then she pouted and let go of her hand unhappily, making an angry face: "Auntie also said that Yin'er is an adult now that she has come of age. Yin'er was ignorant before, but she has changed now. Does Auntie not want to give Yin'er this opportunity?"

"Alright, alright, whatever you say, you clever little devil, I'll do as you say."

"Do you really intend to quarrel with me?"

The Empress Dowager gave a signal, and Emerald, having received the instruction, immediately hurried out.

Yu Shiyan waited for a while, but no one came out to deliver the message. He thought he had been tricked by Yuan Siyin again. Just as he turned to leave, Emerald lifted the curtain and called out to him, "Seventh Prince, please wait."

"The Empress Dowager is really not feeling well today. She originally said she wouldn't see any guests, but she couldn't resist the girl's persistent pleading and finally agreed."

"When the Seventh Prince sees the Empress Dowager, he should be sure to speak very kindly and coax her."

Yu Shiyan nodded and followed her through the door.

"Shi Yan greets the Empress Dowager."

The Empress Dowager maintained her composure and gave a soft "hmm," then picked up her chopsticks and placed a piece of bird's nest and assorted shredded bird's nest into Yuan Siyin's bowl: "Yin'er, try it and see if it suits your taste. Although it's a private kitchen in my palace, it's no worse than the imperial kitchen."

Without the Empress Dowager's definite answer, Yu Shiyan could only continue to wait in a bowed and clasped posture.

"Thank you, Aunt."

Yuan Siyin held her chopsticks but didn't eat, only glancing frequently at Yu Shiyan.

The Empress Dowager naturally noticed her unusual behavior; she noticed that her eyes were practically glued to the food, and she barely touched it.

She deliberately provoked him, wanting to test Yu Shiyan's character.

After all, she didn't think that someone who had been bullied and suppressed by her niece since childhood could amount to anything, let alone compete for the throne.

The daughter of the Yuan family is destined to become empress.

A sharp glint flashed in the Empress Dowager's eyes.
