Chapter 501: Taking a Body's Temperature
Xu Ran's office and Yuan Siyin's office are not far apart, since they are on the same floor, and if they move quickly, they can get there in a few minutes.
In the conference room, Qi Xinxin was analyzing and reviewing the latest data when she inadvertently caught sight of Xu Ran. She made a stop gesture, put down her page-turning pen, and ran out: "Director Xu!"
Xu Ran stopped in her tracks. "Thank you for your trouble. How is she?"
Qi Xinxin shook her head, somewhat worried: "I just went in to check on her. Sister Yinyin has a high fever, and she's even less energetic after taking medicine. I told her to rest for a while. I'll handle what I can outside, and leave what I can't handle until she feels better."
"I understand. I'll go in and take a look. You can continue." Xu Ran nodded knowingly, walked around the conference room, knocked on the door as a formality, and then went directly into Yuan Siyin's office.
"I've finished my meeting. I brought a thermometer to take your temperature. If it's not good, don't force yourself."
Yuan Siyin was half asleep on the sofa when she was pulled like this. Even though she hadn't opened her eyes yet, she couldn't help but mumble in a low voice, "Don't...don't pull me...it hurts..."
"Just take their temperature."
Seeing that her face was flushed excessively, Xu Ran forgot about using the thermometer and directly touched it with his hand; it was frighteningly hot.
She gasped, immediately called HR to ask for leave, without even getting a leave slip, and helped the person downstairs to call a car to go to the hospital.
Yuan Siyin was somewhat conscious, only feeling that her right arm was cold, as if something was mixed into her blood and flowing incessantly, which made her very uncomfortable.
She struggled to open her eyes and found herself lying in a hospital bed receiving an IV drip. The air was filled with a slightly pungent smell of disinfectant, which she subconsciously disliked.
What happened? She only dozed off for a little while, how did she end up in the hospital?
Xu Ran had just returned from paying the bill when she saw her staring blankly at the white ceiling, seemingly lost in thought. She sat down on the caregiver's chair in front of the bed with a hint of annoyance. "Oh, you're finally awake."
Yuan Siyin moved her fingers and turned to look at her: "Sister Ran?"
"Thank goodness your brain isn't fried and you still remember who I am."
“I remember, you are Sister Ran, your husband is Jiang Zhengyu, and you have a daughter named Hanhan.” Yuan Siyin blinked, answering as honestly as could be.
"Who wants you to actually answer? Are you interrogating me about my household registration?"
Xu Ran poked her forehead, which was no longer so hot, with a look of exasperation: "Influenza, you really are something else."
"I didn't want to either." Yuan Siyin tried to dodge her hand, but failed. She could only sneer and say, "The colds I had before were just minor ones. At most, I would have a runny nose and cough for a while. I've never felt like this before, with no energy at all."
"That's why I said thank God you weren't delirious from the fever. When the nurse took your temperature just now, it was almost 40 degrees Celsius."
Yuan Siyin smiled weakly, then suddenly remembered that she also had a meeting to attend. Just as she was about to get up, Xu Ran quickly pressed her down: "Alright, calm down. I've already asked for leave for you. Assistant Qi is helping you with the data analysis."
Yuan Siyin's expression didn't improve much: "She did it for me?"
"Yes, they were in a meeting analyzing things when I arrived, but you were probably almost fainting by then, so you didn't hear anything as you passed by the meeting room."
