Chapter 339: The Journey for the Rest of My Life
Things are different now. Since the retreat from the north, my father has become famous and popular in the north. How could the emperor possibly let her go?
Yuan Siyin gave Si Fangming a disgruntled look, but not wanting to upset Yuan Fuqing, she could only nod reluctantly in agreement.
"Have a safe journey. Take care of yourself in the cold nights. Once you arrive, listen to your father. The army is not like the capital; you cannot do as you please, understand?"
Yuan Siyin leaned down slightly and smoothed out the wrinkles on Yuan Fuqing's clothes.
Yuan Fuqing struggled free from Si Fangming's grasp and obediently nodded: "Sister, take good care of yourself. I'll come back when I've become very powerful!"
Yuan Siyin smiled slightly: "Okay, elder sister has been waiting."
Seeing that she only instructed Yuan Fuqing and neglected his own, Si Fangming immediately complained half-jokingly, "Don't you have anything you want to say to your subordinates?"
"Your subordinate, your subordinate, here we go again. I've told you not to call yourself 'your subordinate,' do you still want to call me 'Miss'?"
Yuan Siyin went up and threw a punch.
Si Fangming pretended to clutch his chest, as if he had suffered internal injuries and was about to vomit blood. To make the effect more realistic, he even coughed twice: "Cough cough, if you keep hitting me, I'll really be unable to scream."
"Whether you live or die, you have to try to find out."
Yuan Siyin raised her fist without hesitation, ready to put it into practice, but Si Fangming subtly dodged and said with an awkward smile, "Forget it, there's no need to try."
"Alright, let's hurry up and go. While the daylight is still good, we can find an inn to rest if we hurry. Also... please take good care of him for me."
As she spoke, Yuan Siyin pushed Yuan Fuqing in front of him and turned her head away to hide her reluctance.
Si Fangming pressed down on Yuan Fuqing's shoulder. Although there were some words he had been struggling to say for a long time, he was afraid that if he didn't say them now, they would never see each other again.
"If there is an opportunity in the future, I would like to take you to every inch of the northern frontier, to experience the scenery of the desert in all four seasons. The journey will last for the rest of my life, and even carriages and horses cannot match it."
He mustered his courage and, though he stumbled a bit, he still managed to finish speaking. Unconsciously, he pinched Yuan Fuqing so hard that she couldn't help but scrunch up her face.
The reason he insisted on calling himself a subordinate was that he did not want Yuan Siyin to regard him as an elder brother.
Yuan Siyin was taken aback for a moment, but after recovering, she smiled and gave a thumbs up: "I didn't know that, my good brother, your writing is really good."
If given the chance, Si Fangming really wanted to see what her brain was actually made of.
Is this a matter of literary talent or not?
This comes from the bottom of his heart!
Heaven knows how many days and nights he pondered these words, and in the end, he received only eight words in return: "Good brother, your writing is truly excellent," plus a thumbs up.
Si Fangming felt like dying at that moment.
Having joked enough, Yuan Siyin stopped laughing and said seriously, "There are many beautiful sights along the way, but you only think about what you've seen before, and never think about the scenery behind you and in the future. That's not fair."
Si Fangming paused for a moment, then remained silent.
It turned out that she understood the unspoken meaning behind her words.
"Look up and see, you're not losing anything."
Yuan Siyin raised her chin, gesturing for him to look ahead. Not far away, Qi Xinxin, dressed in a playful pink dress, stood prominently.
When Si Fangming looked over, she turned her back somewhat awkwardly and pretended nothing was wrong, but in reality, her palms were sweating nervously.
"Why is she here...?"
Si Fangming looked at Yuan Siyin as if he had just realized something: "You told her?"
“When Ziyuan went to deliver the letter, I asked her to just pass on a message as well. I’ve already tried to see if she wanted to come.”
