Chapter Sixty-Nine: Red Beans

Chapter Sixty-Nine: Red Beans

The streets were bustling with people, and a few children ran by, their laughter echoing in the air. The sound of cart wheels rolling over the bluestone slabs added to the lively atmosphere.

A long, slender, and beautiful hand lifted the curtain, and sunlight streamed into the carriage.

The man was dressed in a black brocade robe with gold thread embroidery on the cuffs and silver thread trim on the hem. A piece of fine white jade was tied around his waist. He had handsome and deep features, thin and slightly pursed lips, and a pale and sickly look between his brows.

Even though most of his body was shrouded in shadow, he exuded an innate nobility that made it impossible for anyone to look away.

Seeing this, Zi Yuan quickened her pace and walked to the front. She whispered a few words to the coachman, who gave a "whoosh," and the carriage came to a steady stop.

"Miss instructed that since this is the Seventh Prince's first time leaving the palace, he's bound to be curious. If..."

Yu Shiyan glanced at her and nodded coldly to interrupt her, indicating that he understood. Then he lowered the curtain and remained silent.

On a deserted street corner, a group of men in black, like ghosts, disappeared with the carriage.

Seeing that he refused, Ziyuan had no choice but to tell the driver to continue on his way. After all, it was the outskirts of the city, and at this speed, it would take some time to get there.

A faint scent of incense wafted inside the carriage, a very familiar aroma.

Yu Shiyan leaned against the carriage, closed his eyes to rest, and played with a red bean hairpin in his hand, a smile of pleasure playing on his lips.

He really couldn't wait... to see her groveling at his feet begging for mercy.

Oh.

He gave a soft snort, the sarcasm mingling with the fragrance in the air.

Prince Mu's Mansion —

Yu Shiyan got off the carriage and coldly watched as Zi Yuan stepped forward and pushed open the vermilion gate, which was still passable.

The three characters "Mu Wangfu" on the plaque are auspicious, but there are no red bean trees inside the high walls.

He closed his eyes, a profound and inexplicable loneliness welling up inside him.

"Bring me that, that little shovel, and yes, the watering can too. Hey, don't put in the fertilizer yet!"

A few lighthearted complaints reached my ears, and the image of a playful and clever woman immediately came to mind, drawing me unconsciously to the source of the voice.

Yu Shiyan paused when his gaze fell on the figure crouching on the ground.

The woman wore a pale yellow dress and red embroidered shoes. Her long hair was tied up high and held up with a simple pearl hairpin, revealing her slender, fair neck and smooth, full forehead. Her small face was free of makeup, and her cheeks were as white as snow.

Hearing the commotion behind her, Yuan Siyin turned around and looked at Yu Shiyan with a smile in her eyes. Her every glance and gesture exuded charm and elegance.

"You've come at the perfect time! Come and see, the red beans I planted for you have already sprouted!"

As she spoke, Yuan Siyin presented the flowerpot to him as if it were a treasure, chattering away, but ignoring the dark look in his eyes.

"red beans?"

"Yes, red beans. To make them sprout faster, I soaked the seeds in water for several days. Finally, they sprouted today."

For now, I'll just have to leave it in this small flowerpot. That way, it'll be easy to move it when the weather gets bad. I'll move it out once its roots have taken hold in the soil.

After talking at length without Yu Shiyan saying a word, Yuan Siyin swallowed hard and carefully observed his expression.

Hmm, her brow was slightly furrowed, clearly she wasn't in a good mood.

Looking back at what I just did, I realized I hadn't made a single mistake.

In conclusion, Xiaobaihua was in a bad mood, but it wasn't her fault.
