Chapter 192: That's Right

Chapter 192: That's Right

Yuan Fuqing squatted in the crevice of the artificial hill passageway and waited for a long time. At first, he was secretly amused when he heard Hongyu calling him everywhere, but he only felt bored when he could no longer hear her.

"Why haven't you found me yet? Sister Hongyu is too slow."

He muttered something, and his stomach growled.

It was nearly noon, and a faint fragrance wafted in the air, making my stomach rumble even louder.

Anyway, the imperial kitchen wasn't far away, so he would sneak off to eat something and then come back to hide.

Having made up his mind, Yuan Fuqing peeked out and looked around. Not seeing Hongyu, he immediately skipped off to the imperial kitchen.

The imperial kitchen was bustling with activity. Palace servants from various palaces were waiting outside in small groups to collect their meals. Yuan Fuqing dared not show his face and could only sneak into the kitchen after all the palace servants had left, his big eyes scanning the food on the table.

"Auntie, I want to eat this almond milk cake."

Yuan Fuqing leaned on the table, looking at the cook in a crisp voice.

Yuan Fuqing was naturally pleasing to the eye, with a pair of big, bright eyes like glistening grapes and a sweet tongue. In addition, he often frequented this place, so he was especially popular. No one in the kitchen disliked him.

"Young master, you're here. Why are you alone today?"

Aunt Gu wiped her hands on her apron and patiently squatted down to explain to him, "These are the snacks Her Majesty the Empress wanted. If you want some, I can make them for you in a bit, okay?"

Yuan Fuqing thought for a moment, nodded, found a stool and sat down, resting his chin on his hand as he watched everyone busy: "Aqing, wait obediently, but don't tell Sister Hongyu that I'm here, otherwise I'll lose the game of hide-and-seek!"

"Okay, Auntie won't say anything."

Aunt Gu smiled, then turned around and sent someone to find Hongyu.

Shen Ruolan heard everything clearly outside the door. Without asking Xiyue for help, she covered her mouth and nose with a handkerchief and braved the thick smoke to enter the room: "Is the milk cake ready?"

"Alright, alright, why did the concubine have to make the trip herself? Next time, just have Huixin do it for you."

Aunt Gu quickly packed the small dish into the food box and handed it to her, then went back to her work.

Shen Ruolan turned around and walked towards Yuan Fuqing in the corner, squatting down in front of him: "Aqing, do you want to eat this almond milk cake?"

"You are... Shen Ruolan?" Yuan Fuqing tilted his head and thought for a while, his eyebrows furrowed, and asked like a little adult.

"Yes." Shen Ruolan nodded, her eyes and brows showing a kind expression.

"Don't call me A-Qing. I don't like it when people I don't know well call me A-Qing."

As he spoke, he turned his head away, clearly not buying it.

He had heard his aunt say that this Shen Ruolan was not a good person.

Therefore, we cannot accept her things.

Shen Ruolan gritted her teeth, but her face remained approachable. She even leaned close to his ear and whispered, "If you want some almond milk cake, I'll secretly share a few with you, okay?"

Yuan Fuqing blinked but didn't say anything, seemingly a little tempted.

"Look, there are so many people here, it's definitely not appropriate for me to take them out. Let's go outside and secretly eat two, Her Majesty the Empress won't find out."

"Really?" He swallowed hard.

"Really, and I promise I won't tell your sister Hongyu where you're hiding."

"good!"

Yuan Fuqing happily agreed, and seeing her reach out her hand, he hesitated for a moment, but still took it.

"That's right."

Shen Ruolan chuckled softly.
