Chapter 271: The Little Prey
The two men behind her were the first to react, pointing their fingers at Yuan Siyin and cursing, "Damn it, are you cheating?"
Yuan Siyin laughed without any attempt to hide her laughter, tossing the loose silver coins back onto the table and clapping her hands as if they were something dirty: "It's just giving them a taste of their own medicine."
The words were laced with blatant sarcasm, essentially tearing away the fig leaf covering those dirty hands.
No gambling den could tolerate such behavior. Even though cheating was commonplace, tacit understanding and being robbed of one's place were two completely different things.
"What? Cheating? How is that possible?"
"No wonder I win one game and lose three; it turns out you guys cheated!"
The gambling dens are never short of desperate criminals driven to desperation by debt. The mere mention of cheating makes them more indignant than if their own father had died.
"Damn it, you pretty boy, are you looking for trouble!"
The man lifted the bench and slammed it hard on the ground. The inferior wood couldn't withstand such force and one leg broke off immediately. He then openly used the bench leg as a stick, threateningly pointing it at Yuan Siyin.
"Don't push your luck. Your grandfather isn't someone to be trifled with. Even if we went to the authorities today, he wouldn't do anything to us. Next time you try to cause trouble, think twice before you try!"
With him taking the lead, the previously chaotic scene immediately became completely silent, so quiet that you could clearly hear a die rolling a few times after it fell to the ground.
The gambler who had just jumped out and been cursing the loudest couldn't help but swallow hard and shrink back when he saw this.
Yuan Siyin took two steps back in fear, her face full of disbelief: "You...you actually colluded with the government!"
"Hmph, you only realize that now? It's over!"
The man felt it wasn't enough after making his threats, so he glanced around warily before putting the stool leg back on his shoulder and waving for someone to take Yuan Siyin upstairs.
Yuan Siyin was led away with her hands cuffed behind her back, but a faint smile appeared on her lips.
Skilled hunters often appear as prey.
Little prey, here she comes.
The boss upstairs saw that the pretty boy had indeed been brought up, and immediately frowned, looking her up and down a few times. Without beating around the bush, he simply sat down, crossed his legs, and cut straight to the point: "Tell me, are you in cahoots with those two people just now?"
Those two people just now?
Yuan Siyin's first instinct was to think of Zhong Heng and Yu Shiyan, but considering that the two of them might have some plans, she chose to lower her head and said with a slightly trembling voice, "I... I don't know what you're talking about. I just impulsively said that you were cheating. I didn't do anything else. How can you say we're not in cahoots?"
"Glib-tongued".
The leader snorted and held a sharp dagger to her throat, gesturing wildly: "Think carefully before you answer. Do you want to leave the same way you came in, or have someone carry you out covered in a white sheet? Think it over carefully."
Yuan Siyin was stunned for a moment, then raised her head and began to struggle violently: "Are you guys sick? You just said you cheated, so what? If you really can't stand it, I'll go down and testify for you that you didn't cheat, that I was just not good enough."
Their reaction seemed normal; they didn't seem like they had infiltrated to gather information.
The leader sheathed his dagger and stood up. His tall and imposing figure exuded a strong sense of oppression. He stepped forward and slapped Yuan Siyin's face almost as if he were slapping her: "Learn from this."
