Chapter 343: The Former Imperial Physician
"I asked Hongxiu to keep this from you, are you angry with me?"
Yuan Siyin gently pulled her up with her wrist, not wanting her to adopt such a humble attitude.
Zi Yuan shook her head, ignoring Yuan Siyin's obstruction, and knelt down in front of her. As she spoke, she subconsciously bit her lip, "This servant was never angry with Miss, but only with myself. I was careless and allowed someone with ulterior motives to sneak into the mansion and harm Miss."
Ziyuan is truly ashamed of failing her mistress's trust. She accepts punishment and only begs for permission to enter the palace and summon the Imperial Physician to examine her.
"It's easy to dodge a spear in the open, but hard to guard against an arrow in the dark. What's more, the person behind the scenes is still hiding in the shadows. Wutong revealing his identity is just a way of throwing out bait."
Get up, I don't blame you.
Zi Yuan remained silent, simply kneeling.
Seeing this, Hongxiu also knelt down and pleaded, "Miss, the doctors outside the palace are not as skilled as the imperial physicians inside the palace. Perhaps they can see some clues. Please give us a chance to make amends."
Knowing that they felt guilty towards her, she tried to persuade them in various ways. However, going to the palace to invite the imperial physician would be too much of a fuss. Whether the diagnosis was successful or not, it would inevitably cause her aunt some worry.
Yuan Siyin pondered for a moment and then quietly stood up: "Very well, the former Imperial Physician is at the Mu Prince's residence, and I need to go there again anyway."
"Get up, all of you. I told you long ago that you don't need to kneel before me."
Upon hearing this, the two remembered the one whose mistress had sent to the Mu Prince's Mansion, and they felt hopeful again. They got up and hurriedly went to prepare the carriage.
Yuan Siyin, wrapped in a thin cloak, waited in front of the pavilion in the middle of the lake, and for no reason, she thought of Si Yuzhu.
She came from here...
"Miss, the carriage is already outside the mansion. Let me help you over."
Zi Yuan came over with an oil-paper umbrella. Yuan Siyin came back to her senses and realized that the rain had already started to fall, and it was icy cold as it hit her face.
She blinked, and the raindrops clinging to her eyelashes trembled as they slid down her eyelids like tears.
"You will come along."
Zi Yuan nodded silently, tilting the umbrella slightly so that she wouldn't get wet.
As soon as the two got into the carriage, the rain suddenly intensified. However, there was a glimmer of light in the dark clouds to the north, amidst the rumbling thunder, as if the sky had been torn open. Pedestrians who had not yet returned home were thrown into chaos, scrambling to take shelter under the eaves of shops on the street.
"Miss, you should lower the curtain, or the rain will start to come in soon," Zi Yuan reminded her.
"knew."
Yuan Siyin withdrew her fingertip, and saw Ziyuan habitually light incense. Then, her body stiffened for a moment, and she quickly snapped the incense in half and threw it out of the carriage. It scattered into the puddles that the carriage passed by, and fell with the raindrops with a "plop".
Yuan Siyin paused, then placed her slender white fingers on the back of her hand and gently patted it. "Don't blame yourself. I really didn't mean to blame you."
Why take the blame for someone else's mistake?
“Ziyuan was originally a servant who served the young lady. The young lady was harmed by villains. It is all my fault for not judging people properly and failing to see that Wutong was actually harboring evil intentions.”
Yuan Siyin smiled slightly, then pinched her cheek: "If you could really tell at a glance whether someone is kind or bad, it would be a waste of your talents to have you as my maid."
"But she's endangering Miss's life!"
