Chapter 58: Just Like Her
"Seventh Prince, please."
Huixin handed him the ice chest, her smile forced.
Yu Shiyan pursed his lips, took the wooden lacquered tray holding the candle with one hand, and laboriously held the ice chest in his arms with the other, and went down step by step.
Huixin was still a little worried. Seeing that there was no one else around, she mustered up her courage and asked, "How many hours?"
Bing understood, and mysteriously raised one finger while still wrapped in his clothes.
"If you were wearing a thick coat or cloak, it would be fine; you could last for an hour."
Just like that, no more than half an hour.
Huixin nodded in satisfaction. "Close the door and keep a close eye on the time for me. You'll get good results."
After saying that, she turned and slowly walked away.
Bing spat angrily in the direction she left, then slammed the heavy door shut, shutting out all the heat and light from outside.
Yu Shiyan unconsciously took a deep breath, and a chill instantly ran down his throat, flowing into his limbs and bones, stripping him of the last bit of warmth he had left.
Within moments, his hands and feet turned icy cold, and his jaw started to chatter slightly.
The environment was dark and cramped, and even the candlelight was dim. Yu Shiyan gritted his teeth and groped his way forward little by little by relying on the flickering candlelight.
Finally, he found his way to the ice platform by relying on his memory.
Yu Shiyan placed the ice chest on the ice platform, reached out and lifted the copper lid. The icy touch of the lid instantly stimulated his nerves, making him shiver.
He has been here before.
Never before have I been so openly locked up as I am today.
But what good does knowing that do?
He lowered his eyes, picked up a piece of ice and held it in his hand, then smiled as he looked at the sharp edges.
The huge ice cellar was quiet, when suddenly some faint sounds of arguing came from the doorway.
Then the door creaked open, and the person who entered quickly jogged over and squatted down beside him, wrapping him in a white fox fur cloak.
When Yuan Fuqing saw the bloodstains on his forehead that were just beginning to congeal, he was startled and dared not delay any longer. He quickly waved to the guards behind him and said, "What are you standing there for? Quickly carry him out!"
The boy's childish voice instantly brought Yu Shiyan, who was about to fall into a coma, back to his senses.
"It's...you?"
Shh, don't talk.
Hearing his weak voice, Yuan Fuqing couldn't help but feel worried, but she still walked quickly beside him with her head held high, her voice very low.
Bing was rubbing his hands together as he waited at the exit, trembling with fear.
"You unruly servant! My aunt and I came to get some ice to make chilled plum juice, and we had to run into such an unlucky fellow!"
"Young Master Yuan...this..."
Bing was speechless with bitterness and could only bow down: "This humble servant does not know either, perhaps the Seventh Prince took advantage of the servants' inattention..."
"What use are you! If I see you again, just tell your aunt!"
Yuan Fuqing stood with his hands on his hips and loudly rebuked him.
Her arrogant and smug demeanor was exactly like hers.
Yu Shiyan swallowed hard, and the thought involuntarily surfaced in his mind.
"This servant wouldn't dare, this servant wouldn't dare! Please, young master, spare me!"
Bingzheng didn't care about saving face anymore, and kept kowtowing until his head was bleeding.
Looking at the bloody mess on his head, Yuan Fuqing couldn't help but take two steps back in disgust.
Oh dear, my older sister said that children shouldn't watch such bloody scenes.
