Chapter Thirty-Nine: The Siege by Marketing Accounts and Brainless Fans
When Wen Jing returned to the company, she saw those marketing accounts posting disgusting things. The marketing account that posted the video at the beginning posted a new video, as well as a scene of Wen Siyan and Song Nian'an in the infirmary.
Who could have taken such clear photos? According to the marketing accounts, Song Nian'an is a college student who sells her body to gain the professor's favor.
They make it sound so real, no wonder so many people online are being swayed by their rhetoric.
Wen Jing swiped his finger across the screen, his anger growing as these dirty tricks were exposed.
He couldn't take it anymore, whether it was towards Wen Siyan or these ungrateful online trolls.
Wen Jing called his assistant and said, "Go, withdraw all investments in Starlight Entertainment."
"Huh? That company has been supporting a lot of rising stars lately, and it's bound to be profitable, Mr. Wen."
"Are you teaching me how to do things?" At this moment, Wen Jing's face was expressionless, his eyes were sharp, and even the desolation of his lips had become cold and hard. His fierce aura was no longer hidden and was fully revealed.
The assistant's face turned ashen; those words almost made him want to kneel down.
He had no idea what the company had done to offend Wen Jing. Previously, the company's manager had even approached him, offering small gifts and asking him to put in a good word for Wen Jing with him. Now, if the investment was withdrawn and the company's cash flow dried up, it would be a very serious matter.
But if he said anything more, he would lose his job, so the assistant wisely kept quiet.
A chorus of unfriendly laughter and mockery erupted from the classroom—from Shen Zhuangyue's die-hard fans.
"You're so into having multiple relationships, climbing into different men's beds every night, isn't that great?"
"Exactly, you deliberately cause trouble while acting, and you won't let it go even after filming is over. You're really vicious."
"What did our goddess do to offend you that you need to use these methods to deal with him?"
Cheng Letian was even more agitated than Song Nian'an, jumping up and shouting: "What do you know to criticize your classmates? I really don't know how you got into university. Are you stupid or blind?"
Hearing this made the group even more excited.
Song Nian'an calmly tidied up the books on the table, stood up and said to her classmates, "The extras were brought by a female classmate who held my hand and pulled me there. It wasn't my intention. Shen Zhuangyue's ex-boyfriend has absolutely nothing to do with me. If I had to say there's anything, it's that her man sent me some annoying messages, but I didn't pay any attention to him."
He put the book in his bag, stood up, and said, "There are security cameras in the classroom, the hallway, and at the library entrance. If you don't believe me, go and see for yourselves. If you continue to spread baseless rumors, I have the right to sue you for defamation. I don't have time to waste here with you. Get out of my way."
A classmate with blue hair parted in the middle stepped forward and stopped Song Nian'an.
"Why are you in such a hurry? Are you in such a rush to find the next target?"
The tone and manner of his speech resembled that of a traitor, which made Song Nian'an feel a bit out of place.
He turned sideways and stepped over the stool.
"Hey kid, I think you'd be perfect as an extra in an anti-Japanese war drama. Give it a shot!"
I didn't feel it when I ran over to class, but now my back still hurts a little when I move around. Those guys in the alley were really ruthless.
The guy with the middle parting seemed unwilling to give up and grabbed Song Nian'an.
The school bell rang, and when Wen Siyan walked into the classroom, he heard everyone talking about Song Nian'an.
Seeing the person involved in the incident in the classroom, Wen Siyan sensed that something was wrong. He watched as the nonchalant Song Nian'an was surrounded by the non-mainstream boys, her eyes fixed on the troublemaking boy, like a hidden sword.
"Don't talk about things unrelated to studying at school. If any students who aren't in this class want to stay and listen to my lecture, I'm naturally very happy to welcome them."
Everyone quickly quieted down, and with a single sentence, the area was cleared; those who were supposed to leave, left.
Song Nian'an pulled Cheng Letian out through the back door, and Cheng Letian was still very puzzled.
"Didn't you used to love Professor Wen's classes the most? You would drag me to listen to other classes, so why did you run away today when Professor Wen is welcoming auditors?"
Song Nian'an looked at him with a complex expression: "I don't know how to tell you, but now that I'm married, I still need to keep my distance from other people, especially Professor Wen."
Under Cheng Letian's curious gaze, Song Nian'an patted his bottom and ran forward.
"Let's go. The next class has already started and we're still not in the classroom. We'll have to sit in the front row again under the old man's gaze."
That's right, it's the old man's class. That stubborn old man is very particular about time.
When they arrived at the classroom, only the middle seat in the first row was left. The two of them awkwardly squeezed in under the watchful eyes of the whole class.
The old man seemed to be in a good mood today; he didn't tease them about being late during class.
When the bell rang, Song Nian'an didn't even notice; she was listening intently from the front row.
"Alright, that's all for today's lesson."
As the old man announced the end of get out of class, the sound of the seat boards in the back row rising and falling echoed one after another.
The old man walked over, looked at Song Nian'an's notes, and said, "Not bad, you've covered the key points."
Song Nian'an tried desperately to recall the old man's name, but still couldn't remember it.
In the end, it was Cheng Letian, who was in a daze, who saved him from his social slump. "Thank you, Professor Huang."
Professor Huang? Song Nian'an remembered.
Huang Qin has topped the ARMY Awards list for five consecutive years. This competition, organized by ARMY, the world's most popular and influential architecture and design website, is an international benchmark for outstanding design and the ultimate honor for architects and designers worldwide.
After returning to China, he won numerous awards, both big and small, and is now a judge for the Luban Design Award.
He started teaching at this school last year. In terms of design achievements, he is definitely far superior to Wen Siyan. He is just a pure designer.
"Song Nian'an, right? I saw your design assignment last time and I felt that you have a unique understanding of architecture. I was wondering if you would be interested in helping out at my studio?"
This unexpected invitation made Song Nian'an feel for the first time that she was actually somewhat useful.
I always felt that life was moving forward only because of Wen Jing's care, but I never thought that even a useless person would be put to good use.
Professor Huang noticed Song Nian'an's lack of confidence and hesitation. He handed Song Nian'an a business card and said, "This is the address of my studio. Come directly when you've made up your mind."
"Thank you, Professor Huang." Song Nian'an bowed sincerely.
After Professor Huang left the classroom, Cheng Letian excitedly shouted:
"Professor Huang! You must go and broaden your horizons. Could you take me with you? I really want to see what's so different about a famous designer's studio."
"Let me see your last assignment. I didn't expect you to be secretly working hard while resting at home. I thought you were having fun every day."
Working hard at home...
Song Nian'an recalled the days when she was supervised to read books at home.
In fact, all those who silently supported him were doing so to help him become a better person.
Oh well, if they won't let me read novels, then I won't. Reading more "Introduction to Architecture" will be quite useful.
I'll go home today and properly thank my wonderful husband who encourages me every day.
