The next day, after breakfast, the three of them, carrying some food prepared for them by the Huo family, rushed to the station. They still had to take the train to the capital to meet up with their other brothers.
When they arrived at the station, Ruan Chuanyan was already waiting for them. He had also brought some pastries for them. Not many people knew about this operation, but as a member of the Ruan family, and as his proud son was also involved in the operation, the old man still told them about it.
Upon seeing them arrive, Ruan Chuanyan stepped forward and handed them the pastries in his hand. The words "Take care of yourselves" were not only spoken to Ruan Shaoke, but also to their entire team.
"Dad, your son is unfilial." Facing his father who was always worried about him, Ruan Shaoke felt that he had been a real bastard all these years, but he did not regret his decision, so he could only apologize to his parents.
"What are you saying? I'm so proud of you to have a son like you. Remember, no matter what, we'll always be home, waiting for you to come back." In the blink of an eye, Ruan Shaoke has grown up so much. This child has never liked to cry since he was little, and seeing him shed tears now breaks Ruan Chuanyan's heart.
Besides, it's so cold outside, they might freeze in a bit, that would be bad. So, while Ruan Chuanyan was speaking, she wiped the tears off her son's face.
"Alright, it's getting late, you should hurry up and go. Be careful on the road, we'll wait for you to come back." After saying that, he waved his hand, signaling the three of them to leave quickly, and then he himself quickly got into the car.
After boarding the train, the three found their compartment, put down their belongings, and then Huo Haocheng made an excuse to leave, leaving the others alone.
"Honey, I'm so sorry. If it weren't for me, you wouldn't have stayed away from home for so many years." Bai Sirui put his arm around Ruan Shaoke and sat on the bed, apologizing softly.
"Why are you apologizing? This was my own decision, what does it have to do with you?" After they got together, the thing he couldn't stand the most was Bobby Sirui apologizing for something like this. It was his own decision to agree to be with him in the first place.
In Ruan Shaoke's view, since he made the decision, he should bear the consequences of it. These were all within his expectations, and he never regretted being with the two of them.
"If it weren't for me..."
"Alright, since I agreed to be with you, all of this was within my expectations. Just now, I was just worried that if I couldn't come back this time, I would feel guilty towards my parents. It has nothing to do with you. Don't overthink things all the time. When you were pursuing me before, I never saw you think so much." Compared to this Bai Sirui, he still preferred the Bai Sirui who always found various excuses to approach him, who was always so confident and roguish in front of him.
"Don't say such things. We will definitely come back safely." Bai Sirui couldn't stand Ruan Shaoke saying anything unlucky like dying in front of him. In the past few years, whenever he had the chance, he would go on missions with him. He was very clear about the two of them's ability to adapt on the battlefield.
If, he thought, if the time came, he would also use his life to protect him.
Huo Haocheng gave the two of them half an hour. He went outside for a walk and came back to find that they were fine.
Huo Haocheng was relieved by this.
They arrived at 10 p.m. that night, and Ruan Shaohong and Gu Jinghe picked them up by car.
On the way back, the two told them about what had happened in the past few days. In particular, the old lady was overjoyed to learn that Ruan Shaoke was coming back. She had cleaned the room where he used to sleep inside and out these past two days, and even changed the quilt to a new one.
When they mentioned their grandparents, Bai Sirui suddenly remembered that they were on their way to Ruan Shaoke's grandparents' house.
During this trip, he met with the entire Ruan family. Ruan Shaoke's parents were alright; even if they discovered something, they were in good health and nothing would happen. But the elderly were different. If they discovered something they couldn't accept and it really upset them, Bai Sirui would become a sinner!
Before they could even prepare themselves mentally, they had already arrived at the compound. Ruan Shaohong got out of the car, registered, and then the car stopped outside the compound shortly afterward.
When they got off the bus, they saw a neatly dressed old lady standing inside the gate watching them.
Ruan Shaoke saw his grandmother through the car window. Before the car had even stopped, he opened the car door and went over to her.
"Grandma, I'm home."
"Good, good, good, our Shao Ke is back. It's good that he's back, it's good that he's back." The old lady gently stroked Ruan Shao Ke's head, then looked at the group of people who came in. "Hao Cheng, you're back. Young comrade, welcome to our home. It's cold outside, please come inside."
"Grandma, I won't go in. It's getting late, I'll head home now." Gu Jinghe said to the old lady and then walked home.
"Grandma, it's getting late, I'll head back now. We'll be home for the next few days, so we'll have plenty of time to chat." His wife was still waiting for him, so Ruan Shaohong didn't go in. After picking her up, he went back home.
"Alright, alright, you guys go back and rest now. We can talk about it tomorrow."
Seeing them turn and leave, the old lady took Ruan Shaoke's hand and led them into the house.
As soon as they entered, the three of them saw the old man still sitting there, so they immediately went forward.
Hello, Grandpa!
"Grandpa, I'm home."
"Greetings, Commander!"
When Bai Sirui saluted, he spoke very loudly because he was nervous, which drowned out Huo Haocheng and Ruan Shaoke's voices by more than half.
